Everyone's favorite day

No Tuesday post yet?

Re: Everyone's favorite day

  • It's so funny that the Champion sweatshirts are back in style again. Along with many other 90s things..haha.

I'm having some weird electrical thing going on with my car. I have a new (2020) Toyota Rav 4 that has the Car Play feature. Friday, yesterday and today when I was on the phone (which I have plugged into the use the Car Play), the entire screen shuts down. There's no way to get it to come back short of shutting the car off and turning it back on. It happened once a year ago and not again so I didn't think much of it. Now it's happening every day. So annoying. So I get to deal with that on Friday.

Traffic was a nightmare this morning. It took me over an hour to drive the 20 miles to work. Three separate incidents on the turnpike. Two accidents and a truck on fire. Hopefully the ride home isn't as bad.

Other than that, SSDD. Second Monday.
  • You all may not remember, but the NOLA Assessor's office did an across the board 5% reduction in property values for the city.  There was also an option to appeal for more of a reduction, which I did for four properties.

I was already given a new assessment offer for two and accepted them!  One of them gave me an additional 5%-ish reduction and the other one gave me an additional 10%-ish reduction.  So far, I'll be saving roughly $310 next year (total).  I'm happy with those percentages/numbers.  They seem fair.

Of course, it's the other two I am the most anxious about though, lol.  One of them is, by far, my highest value property so more of a percentage down would have the biggest impact.  The other one is the house that needs a new roof, ergo had the most damage.  I'm assuming that should be the house with the biggest percentage decrease.

Other than that, SSDD.  My truck got a flat tire on Friday and my H is taking it in today for a patch.  On the bright side, it must have been a slow leak because I made it home just fine.  I didn't even realize the tire was flat until I saw it the next day.

  • Fuck this day.

BK is home because she threw up at school. M took her to clinic and they said to monitor for 24hrs, if she's sick again then we covid test.
She's gotta be home for 48hrs anyways, but M said she's perked up a bit since pick up. We'll see how it goes.

Canceled appt with home depot until we know she's ok. We'll see when she goes back if we can reschedule.
  • @MissKittyDanger can you test for strep?  The throw up sometimes is a sign for strep throat.  If the rash isn't a sign of mask irritation and gone away I'd want it reviewed.

It's my Monday and Friday today, LOL. I'm so sleepy. I'm having coffee to try and perk up.  I'm off the rest of the week for the end of DefConn's fall break.

We're not doing much of anything except finding his Halloween costume. He's debating between murderous teddy bear and one of those blow up dinosaur costumes.  I love this age when it comes to Halloween and costume ideas. We have a trunk or treat for Scouts on Sunday and then we're going out on Halloween with our friends to trick or treat.

FIL's surgery is tomorrow.  DH is off the rest of the week after tonight to assist FIL.  He's probably going to spend the night there tomorrow.  DefConn may end up with them.
I've made FIL three meals for his recovery.  I plan on making spaghetti tomorrow to bring over for all of us to eat for dinner.  I'll leave leftovers for him to freeze.

DefConn has a Champion hoodie and several pairs of Champion shorts.

Anyone watching Succession?  I loved the season premiere.  That damn family can make me laugh and then stress me out 2 seconds later.
  • It's not even noon, but I feel like it's 5 already. Calls started at 7 this morning and continued until 11. And being the dumbass that I am, I got up extra early to wok out first, but didn't leave enough time to shower. So now I'm mentally drained and physically feeling ick. I should spend lunch break taking a shower and nap.

Otherwise, SSDD. I'm reading my open enrollment package and trying to decide whether we're realistically preparing for retirement. Adulting sucks.
  • @banana468 oh I've never heard of that! She hasn't thrown up since and was snacking, but if she's sick again, I'm taking her for covid & I'll get a strep test too.

I hate bringing my car in, @climbingsingle.  Nothing to do but sit & wait and sit & wait.  And hope tour phone’a battery doesn’t die.

no sleep for me either. Ugh.  My parents just left and spent another 2 days on my house. It’s gonna look great. My couch gets delivered Thursday.  Speaking of yesterday’s facails and prp, on Saturday I got some fillers (restylene) and dysport and while I really thought this woman was good, she marked up my face for perfect asemetrical application and all that - she left a small bruise under my eye where the needle went. And I don’t really cake my make up on, and hate concealer to begin with so it’s showing through that. I’ve never gotten a bruise from injections before! Just pcdc on my chin.

speaking or make up, Pat McGrath’s MTHRSHIP is calling my name - but not the price tag!

A lot of moms on my local have commented that the rash and vomit can be signs of strep.  If untreated, strep can become rheumatic fever and friends had their daughter in the hospital about 10 years ago with it all because they thought the sore throat was viral and would clear up.

    Oh shit.
I may call her clinic and see then! Yesterday was just irritated skin but now I'm wondering.
I'll have M check her throat, but wouldn't it cause sore throat?

You can have it without a sore throat.  If her symptoms don't improve I'd call.  If it was a one time puke and the skin is better then they could be isolate.

Rash can be a symptom of strep. I took DS2 into the doctor once because he had a rash but no other symptoms. He was strep positive.

M is gonna check her throat later to see.
Rash went away and even prek said didn't look like rash, just irritation. Like gone within an hour
  • Gosh just caught up on yesterday's post, hope your DH is on the mend @mrsconn23, so scary!  It has been a long day so far.  I have a headache that keeps coming and going which I think is adding to it.
  • What a relief to hear @missJeanLouise!  If he's still on hospital-strength drugs (my son has been discharged a couple times still on them...just is what it is sometimes they're ready to go home and the IV can come out but the prescription drugs are super-strong) and he has diarrhea or everything is just shooting out of him, I heartily recommend these:

hope the pic doesn't wind up to big when this posts  :D but wanted to pass along the rec.  Has helped us a lot post-hospitalizations.  Hoping you don't need them, and glad you're all home!
  • Thanks for the recommendation @ei34 :)
  • So glad DS is back home.  Now, recoupe time!
congrats @charlotte989875, that’ll be here before you know it
