Wedding Woes

Happy Friday!

I’m working a half day then heading off to a dance competition for the weekend- so excited there are a lot of competitors this time! Hope everyone else has fun plans!

Re: Happy Friday!

  • Have fun @STARMOON44 bring home the gold!

Out early but I hope to escape for 15 to do some returns before lunch.  It was a busy but slow week.  I’m hoping to hit another haunted house but nothing was set up yet. Other than that a really relaxed weekend.

  • Have fun @STARMOON44

Damn this weekend took forever to get here.

Not much going on this weekend. Running errands, getting my roots touched up. Doing more stuff around the apartment.
  • @STARMOON44 whoo! Good luck

    We're doing photos this weekend.
I'm trying to figure out the outfits. I'm thinking basic, jeans and plain top because M doesn't wear nice pants and .... well toddler. Lol!
Jeans, plain top and depends on weather for BK's shoes {either black shoes or her faux uggs} but I'll probably wear either leopard shoes or black shoes.

M starts his new job on Nov 15th, and since he's already done old job he has some time off and get shit done :)
I'm making a list of stuff for him to do while he's off.
My mum has asked that on Fridays M picked up BK so she can get some xmas shopping done, so I know those afternoons are out - it's only 4 tbh
  • Good luck @STARMOON44!

I have a rehearsal with the guitarist at lunch today and then the kiddos get flu shots later.  We're planning a pizza dinner after.  Tomorrow I have my wine trip til around 6 and DH is taking Chiquito to soccer and a birthday party.  Chiquita will get some grandparent time for the afternoon.

Sunday is a soccer game for Chiquita and then I'm hoping to make an apple pie.
  • Happy anniversary @missJeanLouise!  Da-diss is how my son used to say Thomas, from Thomas the Train, lol.  It was the cutest freaking thing.  I'm not a huge theme party person either, unless it's for a kid's birthday.  Then it's the best.
  • @STARMOON44, good luck at your competition!

My real estate meeting last night wasn't nearly as good as I thought it would be, though it was at least worth the time.

Something very interesting about it though that speaks to real estate, in general.  The meetings usually open with an "open mic" where members can talk about what they are looking for, what they do, or projects they are working on.  Usually about half the comments are "I'm looking to sell XYZ property," and then they give a few details.  Not even ONE comment like that last night.  Most of them were "I'm looking to buy XYZ type of property."  No one selling.  Only buying.

I'm meeting my H at Costco to finish this week's scanning.  It's bit heavier for a Friday because I went to that meeting instead.  Oh well.  I also need to stop at the bank first.  I keep forgetting I need to get a flu shot, lol.  I'll do that either this weekend or next weekend.  The grocery store I go to is having a special where, if you get your flu shot there, they will give you a $10 gc for the store.  They also sent me one coupon for this week and one for next week that is good for $10 off a $50 purchase.  I can double those up and get almost half off of 50 bucks in groceries!  Can't resist that.

The NOLA's appraiser's office shut me down again to get more than a 5% reduction on my personal home.  The same person who replied initially gave me a stupid reply back that didn't make much sense.  But oh well, I'm not fighting it anymore.

I also finally got my appraiser appeal back for my rental that needs a new roof.  They gave me a massive reduction!  Including the 5% across the board reduction they already gave everyone, they reduced my value by about 25%.

  • I'm thrilled that it's Friday, but not a big weekend here. Tonight we're going to dinner with my parents for their anniversary. Tomorrow chores, football and errands, and I'll make a cameo at my friend's kid's birthday party. I want to see her, but paw patrol is not really my scene. Sunday will probably be some yard work and then tentatively meeting up with a couple of friends for a quick drink on a patio, since it's supposed to be sunny and mid 70s.
  • The booster has knocked me out. I’m exhausted and have the chills/ body aches and a headache. I wish I could nap the rest of the day but I have stupid work to do. Worth it? Of course.
  • I bought a ticket to see the Met movie of the opera Fire Shut Up In My Bones.  It's the first time the Met will perform an opera written by a black artist.  The composer is Terence Blanchard, who is an amazing jazz musician anyway, so I'm really excited about it.  Then bought my ticket to see Dune on Sunday.  Re-reading the book has been a slog and it has not aged well at all, so I'm interested to see if I feel the same about the new film as I did about the Lynch version.

Otherwise, I need to finish up the stuff to start doing transcription and I have a new craft project to start on that I'm really excited about.  I am dong another one of the paper models, but I'm doing a big mask that I'll then give to a friend who will use it for a drag performance.

Maybe some video gaming and reading.  I'm just really struggling with depression right now, so I'm trying to balance keeping busy with saving space for some big feelings I have going on.
  • Both of those sound fun @VarunaTT and maybe will take your mind off of some things for the time being.
@charlotte989875 sorry it’s kicked your butt.  What one did you get so I’m more prepared!

I got Pfizer each time. This is by far the worst of the three.
  • Some interesting/surprising local vaccine stats.

Louisiana's vaccination rate is 53% of people who are fully vaccinated (one of the lowest).  But, in New Orleans proper, the vaccination rate for at least one shot is 83%!!!  I realize that is not quite comparing apples to apples, but wow what a difference.  Yay my fellow New Orleanians.

Louisiana is also an oddity in that we are the only state where white people are the demographic that ranks last in vaccination rates.  I might have my percentages slightly off but it's something like 51% White, 53% Black, 56% Latino, and 84% Asian.  Whoa!  Now I'm really curious as to why there is such a stark difference between people of Asian ancestry and the rest of us.  Whatever it is, I hope it rubs off.

Sadly, NOLA stats means there is a major skew for the rest of the state.  Some of the areas that were hit worse by Hurricane Ida have a vaccination rate that is only in the mid 30s., which makes it even more problematic for those people to suddenly be temporarily living in hotels and other areas.

    Go get em @STARMOON44
Parent/teacher conferences yesterday evening and again today this afternoon...the parents I'd really love to talk to haven't signed up, unfortunately.
Tomorrow is a mix of busy-ness and errands and my nephew's 2nd birthday party (today is his actual bday).  He's really into Thomas the Train and trains in general, and my son was at that age too (his second birthday was actually a "choo choo I'm two!" party), so it's really sweet to re-live that.  Making some of the same treats for tomorrow's party I'd made for my son's, who loved his "Da-diss" cake almost too much to eat.  Almost.
Sunday is blissfully open and unscheduled so I'm thinking mass and a trip to the beach but not sure.
Isnt' that always how it is?  The ones that show up, their kids are doing great.  The ones that you need to check in with don't bother to show up.  Hubby has that every parent/teacher conference season.
