Finally Friday

...and Halloween weekend coming up!  What's everyone up to?  My H and I are sticks in the mud and not doing anything for Halloween.  I have a scary movie taped that I've been saving.  I think it's more suspense than gore, which is my preference.  I don't remember the name, lol.

I feel so free this Friday!  We didn't finish our Costco scan yesterday, but we got close enough that my H said he would handle the rest today and I didn't need to go back after work.  I don't have any errands to run either.  Tomorrow, we're going to the grocery store for our flu shots and for items we can't get at Costco.

Re: Finally Friday

  • BK got to dress up 2x this week, so yesterday she wore her butterfly outfit since she was with my mum and today M is picking her up, so she wore her Queen Anna costume {her words}

She was full of dances, pretend and songs this morning lol

Little more info on this little boy R at preschool - it's a one sided crush, he thinks she's pretty, BK does not like answering questions about him {lmao}, and when asked, she thinks she is pretty also lmao!!
We got a preview of teen BK - I was asking if she plays with R outside, and she huffs, eye rolled and looked away.

M & I were cackling because it was just so *chefs kiss*

BK is sleeping at MIL/SFIL place on Saturday night because we have an appt to review about kitchen at like 4pm so when we asked if they could watch her for a bit, they said that since they now have a bed they would love to have BK sleep over.
So M & I are probably picking up a non-BK safe dinner {aka sushi or pad thai lol} and I'm taking a bath.
I think I need to see an RMT again, my back/side is getting bad again.
  • I'm getting ready to go to my annual.  Blerg.  I'm definitely going to treat myself afterward. LOL

Tomorrow, we're going to visit BIL/SIL/nephews in OH and spend the night.
Sunday, we'll head back home and ToT with our friends in the neighborhood across the street.

DefConn's SpEd teacher is leaving next month!!! I'm so sad on a parent level for this because he's been with her since 1st grade.  We love her so much and I have a pretty friendly relationship with her. DefConn adores her and she's been a constant.  She did so much for him when mom was sick by giving him a safe space to go talk and cry.   But she's had a tough year with health stuff and it sounds like it's just not a good situation currently (which makes me side-eye some stuff that I suspected).  Her new position will offer her opportunities and I hope she'll feel more appreciated.  She also said now is the best time because her kids are all in 5th, so they are moving on to middle school next year.  We're FB friends and have each other's number.  I told her I'd be hitting her up.

I'm also kind of a bah humbug about halloween. It's not that I don't like it, but I'm not interested in dressing up and going out, but I'm also just not super jazzed about trick or treat and all that. We bought candy and will either hang out outside or just leave it out. (My driveway is super long and steep, so I'm nice and do candy at the mailbox.) I just can't get myself excited enough to do all the decorations and everything.

It should be a productive weekend otherwise. The bathroom is almost done except for the window, so we're in the process of moving back into our bedroom. I'm planning to go through my drawers and purge as I'm putting stuff away. I've done pretty well losing weight, so a lot of stuff doesn't fit anymore. We'll also be watching the world series, because Go Braves.
  • I hate being scared so Halloween is not my favorite. But I’m dressing up Baby M and his costume is almost done. This will likely be the last DIY one because it’s SO MUCH WORK. Also I’m not good at art.

H is hunting this weekend and I’m already exhausted but my friend is coming out to have lunch with me and M tomorrow!

Nice night in, just the two of you @MissKittyDanger
@MyNameIsNot, you’re gonna feel better by purging. I did that a few weeks ago (I hope I don’t gain it back!!!)

picked up some Halloween donuts at dunk’n and got ripped off.  The stupid spider donuts were $1.99 and she intentionally gave me one with no body! I watched her do it and could have said something but I didn’t.  Less cals for me? (That was mine)

my night opened up. I was supposed to go on a party bus and see halloween decorated houses with 13 other people for a meetup but she changed it to Sunday because its raining and she doesn’t think people will run their lights. But because 1/2 of us dropped out of it because of the change (go during trick or treating time?!) she’s moving it to houses decorated for Christmas in Dec.  yay!

  • Rainy again for us too.  The boys went to school in skeleton jammies today for the their Halloween parties :)  for trick or treating on Sunday G is going as a construction worker -he has a vest, hard hat, tool belt, overalls and boots. N will be in his baby bjorn that we turned decorated to look like a cement truck with red/white stripes, wheels, chute and a red had with "headlights".  it will be hilarious and we'll probably make it to 2 houses.

I have a couple things to finish for work, a therapy appointment, then I'm cleaning a little and grocery shopping.

We're going to SIL/BIL's tomorrow with H's whole fam to watch a football game and celebrate FIL's bday.  It will be nice to get out of the house but i'm really not in the mood to hang out with MIL.
  • I had a zoom meeting at 8 this morning and didn't wake up until 7:20! This cold has really wiped me out because I NEVER sleep that late. Good thing video can be turned off lol! My eardrum ruptured last night after we got back from the theater. It feels better but still stuffy - no pain - so I might have avoided an infection. I certainly hope so!

We went to Indy's Rep theater last night for the first time since pre-pandemic. It was call The Book Club and was really good - a comedy. Much needed after the last 18 months! Today I'm just laying low and working on the baby's Christmas stocking. I'm almost to the point of back stitching the outlines. Hopefully I'll have it done next week so my friend can sew it in to a stocking. DS2 is coming home today to attend a couple's shower for one of his best friends tomorrow. Trying to decide what to do for dinner tonight - Korean or Mexican or maybe Italian!
  • I’m feeling weird about Halloween this year. Usually I’m so excited but this year has just been soul sucking so I’m in a funk. We’re supposed to go over to the in-laws on Sunday and I’m feeling meh about it. Mostly because I like the comfort of our home, but also because FBIL said some shitty things to FSIL Bs new bf last weekend and I don’t want the awkwardness or drama. I’m just glad I’m not in the middle of it but being around it isn’t exactly fun either.

I did take Monday off. I’m hoping it’s a nice day of recharging and enjoying a *cooler* fall day. Still 90 here today. Last night I slept horribly and I know it was because of the heat. Otherwise not too much is going on. It’s one of the staff’s last days and they brought in tacos and bagels. They were so good I wanted to keep eating.

  • Walking around the office today without a mask, because we are allowed to as of today.  I keep feeling like I'm doing something "wrong", lol.

  • This has been the longest week ever. Ugh.

I'm going to a Halloween party at my friend's house Saturday night. I bought this jumpsuit thing with skeleton bones on it. Did not realize the bones are glittery and now there is glitter all over my apartment.
  • Happy Friday! I've been MIA, not on purpose, and nothing going on, just get caught up in the day and don't always check in or post if I do check in. DS school supposedly doesn't allow secular stuff for holidays (when I had asked about a party was told fall party and nothing "Halloween") but I already had stuff and the teacher didn't specifically say anything so I brought his stuff. They did spirit week which annoyed me since I have 4 Halloween shirts I wanted him to wear all week. Today was super heros/princesses and maybe that's their way around the no Halloween stuff bc I saw plenty of kids in dresses and super hero costumes. If DS would have asked to wear Elsa I would have let him but he wanted a super hero shirt. He has a batman costume but there's no way he can get in/out by himself for the bathroom and I'm not making a teacher deal with that!
  • Glad DS party is finally happening @missJeanLouise!
I wasn't a huge Halloween person from, like, 14-33, but as my kids are getting older and into it their excitement is a bit contagious.  We'll ToT on Sunday in a good spot (homes are really close together and 95% of them participate)...their bags should be full after an hour or so. Either make-your-own pumpkin pizzas or a mac o' lantern for dinner.  My Halloween bonus is that everyone (including teachers) are invited to dress up today, so I'm in all black with a cat ears headband, and the pants I went with are fleece leggings.  They're tucked into boots but still...can't beat fleece at work  :D
  • I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend.  I don't think I will hand out candy this year - I get so few kids anyways.  There are two little kids on my block, maybe I will drop candy off in their mailbox.

If it's nice weather, I would like to go out for a walk on Saturday.  And book club on Sunday night, but I just started the book ... it's a 400 pager too.

  • We have a possibly busy weekend ahead but I think tomorrow's going to be a dud.

Weather is supposed to get TERRIBLE and turn tomorrow into a washout.  Kiddos are supposed to have soccer and photos tomorrow but if it's a washout there will be no game or pics.

If that happens I think I'll try to convince DH to do pumpkin carving and then maybe we can do pizza and a movie in front of the TV.

Sunday we have mass and then in the afternoon we're headed to a soccer / GS friend's home for a bonfire and ToTing.
