Wedding Woes

Fri-yay

No Friday post yet.

Thank goodness it’s the weekend. This week has been so long after the four day weekend. I’m ready for some relaxing. I do have an appointment tomorrow but hopefully it will be quick. Two of my fur children are fighting and I don’t know why. I’m worried for my oldest though. She doesn’t really like anyone else but she tolerates them besides the occasional walk up and clawless slap. But this week all of a sudden the youngest has been chasing her and beating her up. She has a big scratch on her face and it makes me sad. I’m not sure what’s changed but we have to fix the dynamic. Ugh. Otherwise SSDD.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Re: Fri-yay

  • @levioosa there's nothing you can tell that's triggering the fighting? Could be just a mood/phase one is in - like people.

@Casadena glad baby is okay! We've gotten lucky and BK's been really sick basically once {small unwell moments here and there} So I get it being scary :(
  • Yesterday was okay. I was tired a.f, and so was BK. She crashed easily and I crashed early.
At some point in the middle of the night, BK woke up crying. I realized after she wasn't really awake, but I was gentle enough I could sooth her without waking her much.
She had sat up when I got in her room, and I sat beside her bed and rocked her. I realized fairly quickly she fell back asleep but I kept doing it for a little bit longer to make sure she wasn't upset when I put her back in bed.
She somehow grabbed my arm and snuggled it when I lay her down, so I had to lie with her so she'd relax enough to let go.

She hasn't had these nightmares in awhile, and she'll go long phases without then a few days of back to back ones.

I also somehow managed to wake up early enough to shower. That's always a miracle lol!
My hair was so bad this morning, I didn't have a choice.
  • Have fun at the show @charlotte989875! I wanted to see that too.

I just paid $7.32 for a brewed coffee at Starbucks… nothing in it but my usual SF flavored syrup (free of charge back home).  Sooooo… yeah.

Have a great Friday!  Woohoo! We made it :)

  • @CharmedPam I found a new protein coffee shake I really like. 20g protein and 3-5g carbs with the equivalent of 2 shots espresso. So far I’ve tried the caramel and vanilla. FI tried the peanut butter chocolate and liked it. I mix mine with mainly water and like an 1/8 cup of half and half and ice for some extra creaminess. It’s definitely helpful caffeine wise and the protein helps me stay decently full compared to my normal green tea only routine.

@MissKittyDanger it’s possible it’s food related. Delilah is a little bowling ball despite us putting up the food during the day and getting her to exercise. Aurora has always been our super small (6 lbs!) petite girl. She can jump up to where the food is during the day because she doesn’t have a binge eating problem. So maybe Delilah is hangry.

  • @levioosa S'ok, BK & I get hangry lol
    Angel & Penny use to .... idk. They would fight then mate. {both fixed} around same time yearly. {later September to mid-October}
It was fun. They'd start licking each other and it was always "are they going to fight or fuck?"
Regardless, we had to separate them lol
  • @levioosa, I hope your fur children soothe back down and get along again.

It's been really interesting for my H and I to see the difference between the relationship our previous cat Nip had with our dog Izzy vs. Maple Bar and Izzy.  Nip was the long established only pet when Izzy came onto the scene.  Nip tolerated her and they would occasionally play together, but mostly Nip wanted to be left alone and Izzy's a great dog who picked up on those cues.  So she left Nip alone, unless Nip instigated play.

But Maple Bar was a tiny kitten when she came into our home, with Izzy as the already "established" pet.  It's a totally different and usually hilarious relationship that they have formed.  MB is such a little instigator!  She likes to play with Izzy and taunts her all the time to be chased.  In turn, since MB is friendlier, Izzy is also sometimes the instigator.  Something she never did with Nip.

I have so much going on and am really overwhelmed.  I'm not usually susceptible to panic attacks, but felt one coming on last night while I was doing my Costco scanning.  I had to calm myself down because that just wasn't the place for that.  This has been a really bad week for that scan gig.  My H usually does the bulk of it, but he didn't get much done yesterday because he's had a lot on his plate.  And, today, we have TWO plumbing emergencies at two different rental houses.  They are at least near each other, but he needs to meet the plumber at 2PM, which means he's only going to get 2-3 hours of scanning done today.  All the rest is going to be left to me to finish and I'm heading out for that shortly.  I'm should be able to finish today, but I'm not even sure of that.  Ugh.

Both of those tenants were late on their rent.  One of them being that master tenant I've been talking about.  So I suspect these problems have been going on for awhile, but they didn't want to say anything until their rent was paid.  The other one has her rent split in half with weird due dates (10th and 24th).  She was $160 short for the 10th.  Promised that would be covered with the rent for the 24th during Thanksgiving week.  Oh but no.  As usual, I can't count on what she says.  She finally paid on Dec. 1st and then sent the text about the bathtub not draining later that night.  My H was over there yesterday, figuring NBD he could clear the drain.  They're a "hair" family and clearing that out usually needs to be done about once a year or so.  Alas, it did not work this time and it seems to be something more serious (sigh).

My main goals for this weekend are to recover both sleep and hopefully sanity, lol.

  • DH resigned today, effective immediately. He’s never done that before, but the hours and whatnot would not have made the transition to a day shift easy. Also, he’s got a shit ton of stuff he needs/wants to do around the house that he’s not been able to do since he’s been on 5-6 days a week, 12+ hour days for the last 6 weeks.

I knocked off this afternoon so we could hang out and get some running around done. We’re checking out the new Aldi that just opened after we have lunch. Adulting, wooo!

I’m going out with my sister for her bday tomorrow. Then we’re going to dad’s to decorate his tree and have dinner with the family. Sunday we’ll decorate our house and watch football.

I’m relieved this 2021 job saga is almost over. It’s been a damn doozy.
  • Good for H @mrsconn23
Thanks @levioosa, those look good and I do need more protein in my diet!

  • I'm checked out at work.  I keep telling people I am unavailable due to workload, and they keep insisting, and I swear this morning broke me.  I might take a mental health day next week which .... I've got too much going on so I can't, but I really need it at this point.
I'm looking forward to tonight though.  There is a German Christmas market in my town, and they will have tasty food.  And the weather doesn't look bad, so it should be fun!  I am meeting a friend.
My fur babies still do not get along.  I have the one inside for the winter already, though this week was warm enough for him to be outside.  I am trying to change the dynamics so they get along again like they used to, but it is going on two or three years at this point since the two boys decided that they hate each other.  I do love having one inside though .... and this one is really litter trained, like a dog!  As in, he has a litter box but is so fastidious that he doesn't want to pee in it, so every morning and evening I take him for a "walk" so he goes pee, and then back inside he goes.

  • It's a beautiful day here. H and I went to Lowes to look for a garage door strip. Mice have chewed the ends off of all of the garage doors (we have 3). He has set mouse traps and caught two. I also bought some outdoor decorations. Then we went to Walmart and Starbucks - got my peppermint mocha. Yesterday I had gone to another Starbucks to get one and they were out! Bummer. I only get one or two a season so was really looking forward to it. Then we went to the liquor store to look for some maple bourbon - we had been having trouble finding it. We found it so bought 3 bottles LOL. Don't want to run out! Tomorrow is our Y's Breakfast with Santa. H and I both volunteer for it every year - except of course last year. I'm looking forward to it. I bought some Christmas legging to wear with it. They are pretty cheap but will do for the event - they only cost $7. Have a great weekend everyone!
