The Mondaiest Monday

Welcome back friends.

Congratulations @mrsconn23 on your win! You’re now the reigning champion of Monday Knot Footbal.

Baby M threw up directly on me. Twice. This morning so it really is a very Monday Monday.

Re: The Mondaiest Monday

  • Happy New Year to all.

I let my sleep schedule get too screwed up over the long weekend and only got about 3 hours of sleep last night.  I need a coffee IV to get through the day.  I'm exhausted and it is definitely the Mondaiest of Mondays.

I changed my big wall calendar out at work.  It felt satisfying!

I had a good, lazy weekend.  My H gave me an unexpected break and finished up our Costco scan without me, on Thursday.  So I got a full 4-day weekend.

We marinated some steaks and had those for dinner last night.  A delicious end to the weekend!

  • It is SUCH a Monday.

Kids are back to school and some of the town parents are in an uproar due to the rising cases.  Some school districts are closed today and so far we're open.

The guidance for stay and screen is likely to change again.  I'm not sure about the rest of you but around here getting PCR tests was nearly impossible for the last two weeks.  I'm lucky that DS got one in the Dr's office when he had the flu or we'd be in line for hours and possibly only to find out that they were out.  I have antigen tests on order and get one for free from my town because I managed to get one at 9 when they had a sign up.

Kids have been wearing masks with filters all year and I just picked up some kid sized KN95 masks.  We're vaccinated and boosted and my understanding of Omicron is that it's so super contagious so I'm just wondering when we're going to get it.
  • Lol cute @missJeanLouise, looks like your little man has a lot of character!
    baby M stop it!
glad you had a nice long relaxing weekend @short+sassy, you’re always on the go so good for you!

my company gave today off to recognize New Years Day, so not a bad Monday for me.  We had some snow dump on us Saturday, and I found out my guy upped his price.  Now, I’m contemplating just getting a snowblower? Can I do it? I hate manual labor.

This weekend blew up with the new guy and I.  Basically, alcohol is his issue.  Alcohol and I think I caught him in a lie, so I broke it off. *sigh* back to the dried up sea I guess.

I’m on my way to a scrabble/brunch meetup.  Have a great day everyone!

Apparently H’s company did that too but he didn’t realize until he drove all the way there.

You can totally do snow blowing (my mother in law does hers when my FIL is out of town) but I hate it so we hire a service (we also get a ton of snow).

Sorry it didn’t work out with the guy. That really sucks.
  • @CharmedPam, oh no!  I'm sorry to hear things didn't work out with new guy.  I hope you meet someone better soon.

A scrabble/brunch meetup sounds so fun!  (As I look around at my boring cube, where mimosas and board games are frowned upon)

OMG @charlotte989875!  I can't even imagine.  I get sympathetically queasy with puke, so that would have sent me over the edge.

I can't believe I came in 1st!  I came in 3rd in my other league.  DH is impressed at my fantasy skills.  LOL

New Year's weekend was pretty low-key.  We did start working on outlining next summer's trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons.

Of course, we are on Covid watch now after an exposure.  Hopefully my rapid test order doesn't get canceled.  We have PCRs scheduled too.  We're all vaxxed/boosted and symptom-free and I'm glad I stocked N-95s.  It's all we can do at this point.

SSDD otherwise.  Work is busy, per usual in 1st quarter.
  • I’m doing a dry January and I hate how good I feel after even two days not drinking. Usually I’m a pretty light drinker but I really dialed it up from Thanksgiving on and need a reset. And I wouldn’t mind losing some weight. I have a dance competition end of January and my new dress is a tad snug so I figure a month of not drinking can’t hurt.
  • I'm sorry @CharmedPam that the new guy stuff blew up.  That sucks.
  • Oh and one more thing, I'm *living* for the AB memes about him quitting halfway through the game.  That was absolutely bonkers, but completely unsurprising.
  • @CharmedPam sorry about the new guy. But better to cut your losses now.

@STARMOON44 good luck with Dry January. It is amazing what not drinking for a bit will do for a person.

Speaking of not drinking, DH's brother is a terrible alcoholic. A good guy but his drinking is killing him. Well apparently he is trying to quit drinking, this would be Day 2 of sobriety if he made it this far. I have all my fingers and toes crossed but my expectations on the ground. I want to reach out so bad but we don't really have that kind of relationship

It’s like when Vontae Davis quit at halftime of the Bills game.

I think it’s sad. He was such a good player in Pittsburgh but clearly has some stuff going on.
  • We had a very low-key New Year's.  I wore pajamas from Friday thru yesterday at Noon.  Then I put on leggings and a sweatshirt lol.  I stayed up past midnight watching a 911: Crisis Center show.  I did laundry yesterday and started to consolidate Christmas goodies. I stayed up too late watching the Packer/Vikings game last night.  Yawn....

Oh I agree it's sad, but he's been out of control for a few years.  We watched the Hard Knocks where he tried to go to the Raiders (right?) and what a mess that was.  I was surprised when the Bucs signed him.  I'm sure Brady thought he could give him some kind of structure and a true restart.
  • Weekend was busy - house is totally back to normal and clean. Unfortunately my trip to Florida (which why I was busting my a$$ getting things back to normal) was rescheduled until March. Hopefully numbers will be back down by then. There are some super careful people in my group. I felt fine going on a non -stop flight and not eating out but doing take out and cooking in but apparently several people didn't feel safe (everyone is vaccinated and boosted). I know people have to do what makes them comfortable but I'm just so over all this.

I guess now I have time to tackle the closets and other things I should do around here!

Sorry about the new guy @CharmedPam - definitely his loss. Hope baby is doing better @charlotte989875. @missJeanLouise he is adorable. Hope nursery goes well!

Oh and the drug dealer is back in Etiquette and several other forums. @KnotRiley can they be deleted?

  • WTF IS HAPPENING TODAY?!?!

In one day...today...we have had THREE different tenants contact us about repair problems.  That's almost one third of my tenants.  Totally unreal!!!

One problem is being fixed as we speak.  It's surprising we got it happening that fast, but it's $370 down the drain.  Literally.  We hired a company to hydro jet the drains.  One of them sounds ominous and I'm worried.  She says the ceiling is cracking in multiple places and it sounds like there is an animal in the attic.  It's a duplex and we had to replace the ceilings in the other unit a few years ago.  It's something we need to hire out for and it isn't cheap (sigh).

And one of them, who has been a thorn in my side for years, is pulling her bs cards again.  It's a situation where she's never quite been so bad that I've wanted to give her a Notice to Vacate.  But she regularly has trouble paying her rent while telling me obvious lies about it.

Here's my vent and the history:

The last time her rent was paid in full was March 2020 (just a coincidence, not related to virus).  So, almost two years ago.  But it was small amounts she was behind until Oct. 2020.  Then she said her daughter had caught COVID, was hospitalized, and missed a month of work.  Most of that a lie.  Her daughter had a mild case of COVID, wasn't hospitalized, and works for the parish (county) and who would have paid for at least two weeks of COVID sick time.  A late model, used car with dealer plates showed up in their driveway at about the same time.  Mmm...hmm.

They fell $825 behind in rent.  But got the debt down to about $400 by Dec. 2020.  Promised to pay me back if I would just give her more time.  I even gave her the opportunity to set her own payment plan.  Which she put off for months because she "didn't have any extra money".  March 2021 subsidies came and went.  "Whaaattt?  Oh no.  Neither me or my daughter have gotten it yet (end of April)."  Bull fvcking shit.  I gave her a written notice they needed to pay $50/month towards their arrears.  And told her verbally, if they couldn't afford that, we could talk about a move-out plan.

They've only paid that half the time over the last six months and still owe me $300.

For their last payment (they pay twice a month), we had to post a 5 Day Pay or Quit notice.  They ended up paying it one week late and were $200 short.  And their next payment is one week from now.  No communication with us whatsoever until today.

I was planning to text her, but she did it first.  Supposedly her daughter was in a car accident and has not been working that much.  I expressed I was sorry to hear that and I hope she is doing okay.  Though made-up car accidents aren't usually that serious (did not say that at all, but wanted to).  Asked what the plans is for the rent and outlined it's not just the $200, but half her rent is due again in one week.

In classic "this tenant's style".  "We'll keep paying until it's paid up."  Oh, no, no, no.  We aren't playing this game again when I've been owed at least $300 for over a year.  I didn't say any of this either.  What I did say was that I can only potentially work with this if she is a lot more specific.  Like what specific dates she is paying what specific amounts.  She replied back with "okay", but didn't say anything else.  If I don't hear anything else by tomorrow, I'll get in touch with her daughter.  I wish the daughter was the main contact.  She's more straight forward and seems to take things more seriously.

There's also something fishy going on.  The daughter is the one who supports the household and makes the money.  But she has her mom handle paying the rent.  When I posted the notice about the payment plan and rent arrears, that was the first time the daughter contacted me about these kind of matters.  She apologized and said she had no idea they were behind and just gives her mom the rent money she asks for, but that an additional $50/month wouldn't be a problem (apparently it has been).  Oookkaaayy.  So either the daughter is lying about not knowing or the mom was blowing smoke up my ass for months and never bothered asking her daughter for more money to cover some of the arrears.  I'm more apt to believe the latter.

My conspiracy theory?  I've wondered if part of the arrears problem is the mom was occasionally keeping some of the rent money for herself.

I'm thinking that neither of them are totally honest but mom is more dishonest.
  • Fx for you too @levioosa.

I’m really laying low from now to the 14th.  I went to a meet up.  Four of us, and we all said we were boosted.  I took their word.  For the most part, these meetups are pretty honest.
