Prudie Day

I’m waiting for someone who scheduled a meeting to actually show up. It drives me bananas if someone adds time to my calendar then is more than 5 minutes late.

Baby M up again last night. Kid hates staying in his bed and just wants to snuggle but I’m exhausted. But we did have some excellent BCBC last night that was worth staying up for.

How’s everyone else today?

Re: Prudie Day

  • Other than drivers test yesterday, BK had a great day with SFIL :)

So I had phone appt with my dr. I'm going for blood work and vag ultrasound, but it could be side effects of IUD
M isn't ready for the "no more kids convo" because he thinks "we haven't decided" but I did tell him that once we decide {aka - stop fkn asking me dude, I am done!} if he doesn't feel comfortable/ready to get snipped, I won't force him. I did advise he'd probably get an appt faster than I'd get surgery because of covid back log.

Ideally it's an easy fix. I rarely have side effects of things, so this is weird. Weirder that it's nearly 2 years later.
  • That is SUCH a peeve of mine @charlotte989875! I loathe it when people are not on time for a meeting they called.   It's not respecting my time and if you do that to me as a customer I am less likely to move quickly for you when you tell me that you aren't respecting my time.

Speaking of that, I had a customer do it to me Tuesday night telling me about a rush demand needing an answer OMGRIGHTNOW and I stayed late to get answers, dove in first thing yesterday and my post-lunch call was "oh thanks for doing this it's not needed."  He works for a big company and I have to say I'm not going to rush for him again when the answer is "This may not materialize but I expect you to take time out of your night for a maybe."

I'm still trying to get DH's birthday gifts done since it's a week from today.   Why can't he be easier to shop for?
  • @charlotte989875 congrats on the bcbc. I feel like it merits a congrats, lol. I have been kind of avoiding it recently because I am afraid of triggering labor. Next week though, it's on like donkey kong. 😂😂

@MissKittyDanger good luck with your Dr.'s appt. Hope you get it all figured out.

@banana468 your husband is an engineer, right? Does he like techy gifts?

My day was fine. I had my baby shower this morning and it was so lovely to catch up with my girls. But then, on the way home from picking up DS from nursery, I got a flat tire. Of course DS had to potty and I wasn't prepared because I was planning on going home. <TMI> he tried his best to pee on a dirt pile on the side on the road but ended up getting it all over his clothes. Luckily my friend was able to come to the rescue. She brought him a change of clothes and took him her house while I dealt with tow truck. Long story short, I ended up with 4 new tires (which we were planning on doing but not till March).
This is too true. My due date week was doing all the things to get baby M to come out!
  • On the subject of meetings, one of the engineers I work with a decent amount is in AZ.  They are one of two states that do not do Daylight Savings.  So part of the year they are two hours behind me and part of the year they are one hour behind.  And dang nabbit, He seems to always call/Teams me at around 10:30am, his time.  Which is either right before/during when my lunch is starting or right after lunch, depending on the time of year.  Where I work, everyone has to take lunch from 11:30-12:30.

Costco scanning tonight.  Then I desperately need to try on my new bathing suit to make sure it fits and looks okay.  And hmmm, I really need to buy a second one anyway for my upcoming Hawaii trip.  Blech.  Time is going too fast!  Then I need to place my Amazon order because I definitely need to order more N95 masks.  I am running it too close as it is, because I don't have Amazon Prime anymore.

Today is my "Friday" because I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning.  That's the endo I was complaining about a couple weeks ago.  But, after this, I'm going elsewhere.  It's just that it would have taken me a few months to get an appointment with another one, so I kept this one for now.

@MissKittyDanger, I hope that talk goes well.  I hope he can see your side of things
booo to a flat tire @missJeanLouise
@mrsconn23, never heard of him, but I’ll keep an eye out if he’s that funny! Does he have a netflix special?

Yesterday’s dinner went very well.  Food was excellent and I declined my second favorite cake of all time (mostly because I have an a1c check on Monday lol), lemon! Three of the ladies had it and said it was good so now I must make a note to go back (wok ‘n fire if any of you have that?).  I have all my tax forms available and plugged in my w2 for a sneak peak, but my damn 1098 hasn’t come in yet. Hurry up, bank!

  • @charlotte989875 I totally hate that! We had a training class with our IT company on Tuesday, and a coworker was over 10 minutes late to log on. And the meeting was already expected to run long.

I'm back in the office today. UGH. I want to be back home in pajamas. I was also upstate for a week and hadn't been to my apartment. Thankfully my bananas are still ripe enough to eat...haha. I was worried about my fruit bowl.

Meanwhile, I actually typed this an hour ago, but haven't been able to hit reply because there are constant interruptions in the office and I get nothing done.
  • @missJeanLouise it's the techy gifts that are usually where i mess up.  One year I got him a sound bar.  He returned it (after asking nicely if I'd mind) and last year I got him a go pro which I thought would be a really cool fun thing to use when we're out on the boat.  He said he's never going to use it.

I bought him a 3D printer for Christmas and he's hardly left the basement in his waking hours so he loves that - but it's SO HARD to go tech on him because he has his precise ideas.   It would be like buying him a car.  He's done the research so if I showed up with one he'd tilt his head and wonder wtf I was thinking.

  • @mrsconn23, never heard of him, but I’ll keep an eye out if he’s that funny! Does he have a netflix special?

He has 2!! The Tennessee Kid and Greatest Average American.  He also is in the Standups on Netflix.  First season, I think.

DH and I love stand up comedy.  DefConn also loves stand up, but there's a LOT that is not appropriate for 10 year olds (not that it stops us all the time).  Bargatze is really funny, but he's a 'clean' comedian.  No raunchy stuff and no swearing.  His observational comedy is so freaking hilarious that you don't even realize he leave it out.  So it was great that we were able to take him along with us.  He was rolling and repeating his fave jokes the whole way home.
  • @banana468 That makes sense. DH has a rule about not buying anything hobby related for anyone unless they specifically ask for it for the reasons you mentioned. I am not a great gift giver, I have discovered, because I enjoy receiving very utilitarian gifts and not everyone else wants socks, lol. For my DH I will book him an appointment for something because a gift card will go to waste and, much like your DH, he is specific about what he wants.

Jim Gaffigan ia considered clean and one of my faves!  Clean comedy can be done!
OMG, we ADORE Jim Gaffigan (a hoosier!).

But one of our all time faves is Katt Williams and he's not even safe to watch in the same room with my dad.  LMAO
  • @CharmedPam So far I view it as, if we're still talking then I'm still not getting pregnant and closer to timeline. We're viewing things as they roll in general
  • I like stand up too...on his most recent special Jim Gaffigan made me laugh out loud at the question "is he old-old, or didn't-have-a-cell-phone-in-high-school old?".  Which obviously resonated, since I got my first (flip) phone at 19.
The windows are open in every classroom and it's 22 degrees, so I'm hitting my "being cold" limit.  Wishing I had a better idea of the snow forecast on Saturday.  Will it be 5"?  Two feet?  No one knows other than it's coming.
  • I just looked at the weekend's forecast. Gross.

@short+sassy, The AZ guy reminds me of trying to schedule stuff with the South America family. They do have daylight savings, but it goes the other way. So sometimes we're in the same time, sometimes we're an hour different, sometimes we're two. So needlessly confusing.

I saw an interesting job posted on linkedin yesterday. I'm trying to decide whether it's interesting enough to update my resume and apply or if I'm too lazy.
  • My random thought for the day.  It's funny we use the term "sailing", even when we are talking about a boat or ship that does not have a sail at all.

Amusing factoid: submarines have a sail.
