A job I applied for in September and interviewed for in October (multiple rounds) got in touch last week after total silence. “Just checking if you are still interested? We really liked you! Let us know and we will discuss next steps.” And I immediately responded that I’m very much still interested and what are the next steps. And they were all amazing we will be in touch soon. So if we could all collectively manifest that soon= this morning that would be great.
Re: Manifestation Monday
There was more work fuckery this morning that is stupid and I said it was stupid and came in feeling like poop. This covid fatigue/fog is a real thing and it is a big struggle for me right now. But I don't have anyone else to do laundry and other life stuffs and I need underwear and other life stuffs, so here we are. I'm also really irritated b/c work keeps telling me they've sent their portion of my short term disability claim, but the company keeps saying they don't have it.
The weekend was a lot of sleeping and watching TV again. I started Archive81 and holy frijoles, it is good! I had to stop watching b/c I watched In the Heights over the internet with a friend, which was also very good. Nothing much else to report.
I am back at work finally. My ST disability did end up getting approved last Monday morning. I basically slept for a week and I feel a thousand times better. Still dealing with recurring headaches (manageable with ibuprofen) and the tail end of a cough but can WFH through Feb 11 so I feel pretty good.
I'm excited about ramping up a job search again - i'm just getting bored at my job. I've been here almost 5 years and want something more exciting. I really loved consulting so if I could find another consulting type gig but not have to travel 100% of the time, i'd be all in on that.
H and I started couples therapy a few weeks ago and I am really hopeful that we can make some positive changes in the way we communicate. We now have ground rules for disagreements and the last few that we've had have seemed a lot more productive and respectful/calm.
This weekend was mostly quiet. Lots of snow and wind so I stayed inside and cleaned and baked.
BUT my SIL and brother are currently at the hospital with the baby on the way!!! I can barely concentrate on anything else!
Can we also manifest the absolute trash that is happening in my city fkn ends, that'd be super.
I live in Ottawa. Google. It's a mess.
Saturday we visited my granny as a late xmas. We did dinner and I brought food for BK because ham and scalloped potatoes are not her ideal {it's mine though}
But she surprised us. She had a few bites on potatoes and had most of her ham - dipping sometimes in mustard.
She was so good
BK is back in school today!
I think last night was a mix of emotions she just couldn't manage, so it came off as absolute chaos.
Excitement and probably a bit of nerves also. It was so chaotic, to the point she riled herself up so much she struggled to sleep.
She eventually did and woke up fine. We all slept in a bit later than I originally wanted to but left on time.
I drove. Solo.
It was fine. Low traffic.
That's so exciting about solo driving @MissKittyDanger great job.
My bff is currently sitting at the airport waiting to start her journey here. I am so excited, I keep forgetting that her presence means I will have a baby, lol.
Our family pictures went well yesterday. DS, of course, took scissors to the front of his hair just hours before we had to do them, lol. But the most exciting thing is that my friend taught me how to do the Bathrobe Curls trick that was trending a couple years ago. It is so incredible, I was Shocked!
Here's the sneak peek the photographer sent me.
How did the New England peeps fair with the snow?
@MissKittyDanger, solo driving, that’s awesome
@missJeanLouise love love love. LOLing at the scissors but hey, you have something to look back on mow!
@VarunaTT sounds like a great, relaxing weekend
@Casadena GL on the job hunt!
my parents came this weekend. They knew I was down. More like, in pain. I think having them over 2 weeks after surgery was to soon. I told them it was my back. But honestly most people have a “what the eff did I do to myself?” Moment like 2-4 weeks after these elective surgeries (until the pain subsides). I attended a really nice baby shower yesterday and hung out with some old friends (so after March12th-ish, in my group of 5 friends of 20+ years, I’m the only one without kids - and always will be).
@STARMOON44 all the job vibes!
@climbingsingle happy wishes to you auntie!
Well, as the meme's say, there's one day left in January and (knock on wood) I don't have COVID-19 but I won't talk about the song that's stuck in my head after watching a certain animated movie over the weekend.
Kiddos had a 2 hour delay and now it's starting to feel "normal" in the house. The backyard looks gloriously pristine in the snow and I LOVE it but would prefer not to squint at the ground.
Lovely photo @missJea@missJeanLouise
Our snow accumulation was funny, the wind was high so drifts ended up being a big part of the snow fall. Two inches in some parts of the yard and 2.5 feet in others, lol.
@missJeanLouise, you all are adorable!
@Casadena, Not sure about where you are, but there are a couple of consulting firms here that are moving away from the 100% travel model and focus on local clients. I think covid is also pushing the big firms to do more off-site.
Cold, lazy weekend here. I'm mostly packed for our trip and need to manifest a negative covid test so that we don't have to cancel. We blew through the first half of Ozarks before I realized that we have to wait again for the rest of it.
FX @STARMOON44 for the job!
good luck on the job search too @Casadena I admire the face that you're bored at work and seeking more. I get stuck in the bored but comfortable rut
@MissKittyDanger I saw what a shitshow Ottawa is right now. And also scary for those who work/live downtown too
@CharmedPam what procedure did you have done? I've been out more than in with checking in so I'm sure I missed it. I hope you start to feel even better soon
@Casadena, good luck with your job search. I'm also glad to hear that couples therapy looks promising. Although my H and I never went to therapy, we did have a CTJ talk a few years ago to improve our communication when we have a disagreement. Even after all this time, we still follow our "rules" which has led to shorter disagreements and less hurt feelings on both sides.
@MissKittyDanger, yay solo driving! I assume it was in snow, which also impresses me. I've been driving for decades, but have never driven in snow and would feel dangerous/clueless about it!
@missJeanLouise, such a cute pic! You all are a beautiful family.
I had my endocrinologist appointment on Friday. But they forgot to check off three of the tests I needed, when they did my blood work. I go to their office for the blood draw. Including my A1C, which is THE most important one, smh. That test tells my doctor what my average blood sugar has been for the last (I think) three months. They told me I could come back and have my blood drawn. It's a fasting blood test, so they couldn't do it while I was there for my appointment. No way! I'm not taking another half day off work to do that, plus it's not nearly as helpful if I don't have it for my appointment anyway. I told them to just refund back the tests that weren't run. I have a high deductible insurance plan and have to pay my blood work out of pocket.
But I had a number of questions for the doctor and needed one of my main prescriptions adjusted. So at least I got all of that done. When I told him about what happened with my COVID exposure and then crazy blood glucose numbers for a week, even though I tested negative. He agreed that I probably did have COVID. He said that, especially for people who are already vaccinated, the viral load can still be too small to be picked up on a test.
We picked up our king cake on Saturday from the bakery that is supposed to have one of the best in town. Reputation well deserved! Both my H and I thought it was one of the best king cakes we've ever had. It was filled with cream cheese throughout. So many places are too wimpy with that. The dough was the perfect consistency and softer than average, which is my preference. Multiple layers of cinnamon ribbons throughout, which amped up the cinnamon flavor a bit more than average. But, for me, the really stand out feature was the icing. Most places use a boring sugar icing that is actually hard (it's supposed to be). I don't like that at all and usually scrape off as much of the icing as I can. But this place had a cream cheese frosting, which is about the only kind of frosting I like, and it was light and airy. I did take pics, but I need to remember to do that from home tonight. My work computer doesn't let me upload files from my phone.
Today, I'm training someone for the steel part of my job. I've only done this once before and I always forget how tiring it is, lol.
@kvruns we aren't close but M's cousin lives/works there. Schools are shut down. Major mall is shut down. People are being mean.
glad the NE’ers made it through the storm @ILoveBeachMusic, I can’t wait till ours comes Wed/Thurs too. Gigantic eyeroll. I’m typing that out because the small emoji eyeroll won’t do it justice.
@short+sassy, I have my A1c tonight ironically enough. I’ve been told the 3 month span too. And I’ve been really good with a dry January, so I hope my #’s are down. I want to talk about meds with my doc, as well as a sleeping pill since all my OTC sleeping aids don’t work anymore. Mmmmm. Creamcheese frosting is my absolute fave too. The main reason why I love carrot cake.
Weekend was reasonably productive, if a little slower paced than usual. I cleaned the house and did all of the linens and I was able to air out the house. I feel like I needed to do all of it to feel “reset” from Covid. I attempted some hikes at a much, much slower pace than usual. Pulse ox is still dropping to the 80s with activity and I’m still feeling some shortness of breath and fatigue. I’m trying to balance positive activity without overdoing it. I’m probably still overdoing it despite all of my efforts because I have zero chill.
Few things:
Terry Fox statue defaced & put upside down flag
Tomb of Unknown Soldier & death spot of Nathan Cirillo defaced
Homeless shelter HARASSED for food/blankets {not by homeless}
Swastica's around city on signs
Confederate flag around
Rideau Mall shut down for covid safety and employee safety
Man died on way to hospital due to road blockages
Mocking of indigenious people songs/drumming
Not to mention people feeling unsafe in their areas, unable to sleep, kids unable to go to school/daycare, people being told to stay out of the downtown area.
They're taking up an entire street
But remember, indigenous people took up one intersection to protest how they're treated and residential schools, and 1 pipeline and demanding clean drinking water AND GOT ARRESTED
Police escorted these people into the city.
