I get this sinus congestion whenever there's a drastic temperature change- it was in the 20s over the weekend and hitting about 60 today so that's kind of dominating my day. Otherwise pretty SSDD.

Hello! Back after taking a long weekend.

The weekend was a lot. We enjoyed our time with DH's cousin's family. They bought the most charming mid-1800's home in a super cute town. Their kids are so great and we just love all of them to pieces.

The funeral was standing-room only. The eulogy was given by the dad of his childhood friend and completely encapsulated our friend as a person. His wife is hanging in there. I got to give her a lot of hugs and told her we'd definitely be coming back to be with her sooner than later. The kids are just so precious and look so much like him. We also got to have a great chat with A's mom and brother.

We got back super late Sunday night. We let DefConn stay home from school yesterday. The weather was amazing. We ended up quasi-spring cleaning the house and opened all the windows to air things out.

I'm still not feeling 100%, which sucks. But I do feel better than I did late last week. I'm sure the travel and the weather bouncing all over the place isn't helping.

Poor DH is getting dental work done today. He just texted that they had to stick him 6 times. Ugh. It sounds horrendous.

Bleh Second Monday.

Went to a new dentist for a cleaning yesterday. I have 2 cavities that I have to go back and get fixed today. However I will say that this was the best/least painful cleaning I've ever had.

Another person at my job gave their notice, which I hope really drives home to the owners how miserable people are here. I really, really hope I get something soon so I can quit as well. This place grows more toxic by the day.

And you know it's bad when I'm actually looking forward to leaving here early to get cavities filled..haha.

Edited to add - did anyone watch the Bachelor finale? I haven't watched a full season in a while but happened to land on it last night. OMG what a shitshow!

BK was at my mum's sunday night and last night. Sunday was planned but last night my mum's like "oh why don't I keep her. That way there's no rush in the morning since she's coming back"

Guys .... wtf do M & I do with BK around? Lmao
We ended up facetiming her - because M hadn't seen her since Sunday - and after we were just like "Uhm .... idk what to do?"

We watched multiple episodes of The Ranch lol

She's home tonight but then sleeping at IL's on Wednesday night. At least Friday I have off with her.
Idk if M is in office Friday, so I just told my mum I'm borrowing the saucer and we'll stay home. I'll just truck her around in it in a field nearby lol

@climbingsingle, sorry to hear about your coworker leaving. I hope your turn is coming also. Unfortunately, I think it's rare for companies have an epiphany of "we've lost so many employees because we're toxic, let's change for the better!" If only, lol.

My H is taking my MINI to the shop today. The a/c doesn't work anymore and the car itself is just not running right. Desperately hoping my extended warranty is still in force. It's a 12-year-old car and isn't worth that much money anymore. So it probably wouldn't be worth it to fix, unless the warranty covers it.

The a/c also stopped working on my other vehicle (Ford Ranger pickup). It happened pretty much at the same time for both vehicles. Weird. Now that we are getting into hotter weather, I should have that car looked at also. Meh.

I know car repairs are a necessary evil. But they are evil, nonetheless, lol.

It’s been a busy few days. Work is good; we’re making progress on my permanent role (I’m still technically from a title and cost center perspective still on loan) and the work is busy but moving forward fast.

H interviewed for a new role internally and didn’t get moved on to the next round. He’s bummed and trying to figure out his path forward. He was brought in to work on a high level project but then his manager moved groups to an even higher level project and didn’t take H with him. So now H is trying to figure out what his plan is.

The weather has warmed up here - Yay! Unfortunately, that also caused some snow melt to seep in and create a drip on inside of our sliding door frame. Roofing company was here today. Looks like it was an ice dam and has cleared. They'll come back and check in a month to see if there is a spot that needs sealing. Looks like there will be some slight water damage to the door trim so we'll need to have our handyman come and take a look when everything is dry. It could have been much worse but still a hassle.

I have a hair and nail appointment tonight and can't wait to get a refresh!

Another tenant vent.

The tenant I've mentioned who recently got a Section 8 one-bedroom voucher. And owes me back rent that's on a payment plan. And $175 back rent from Feb. that is NOT on a payment plan. And now owes me the first half of March's rent. We posted a 5-Day Pay or Quit notice today.

She texted me a little while ago. Apparently she thought that, as long as I accepted her voucher (I didn't), that meant S8 was paying her rent this month?!?! And she would only owe the past due rent and the difference between her voucher and this month's rent?

What! NO! That is not how ANY of that works. S8 has a 6-8 week process to approve a property for their program and get all the paperwork signed, by all parties. They don't pay jack until that is done and they don't pay "back rent" for while it is going through the process either. I can understand where she may have gotten that assumption, because she is new to the program. But why would she assume something so massive, without verifying it with anybody. In fact, I have personally told her...just to make sure there was no "misunderstanding"...that she is responsible for the rent like she has always been, until she moves somewhere else for her voucher.

But she's also the kind of person who only hears what she wants to hear. I wouldn't be surprised if her S8 caseworker clearly explained the process to her.

She asked for more time and I told her no. The notice already gives her until next Tuesday and I've already discussed with her multiple times in the last few weeks that we can't allow her to fall further behind. Hopefully they can pull it out of the fire. Because I would hate to have to evict, when they're planning to move out anyway. But I am too far past my breaking point with them. Plus, by the time it is next Tuesday, that's almost one month since they've paid me even $1. The adult daughter who lives there gets paid every other Friday. Where is some of that money? Exactly.

I am over feeling like poop. I think it's just a lot of small things -- the week before my period, my allergies are flaring, I ended up sleeping on my back for a few days which is very odd and my side sleeper pillow gave me a neck kink b/c of it, the weather keeps going all over the place, and I still have covid fatigue -- that's churning together into Varuna hates the world.

However, in work related news, I was transitioned to working for two more attorneys. I'm not upset though, b/c they are good attorneys who care about their jobs and I'm actually doing real paralegal work for them. It's refreshing to get to flex those muscles again. I did a lot of work for one of them today and then went in with some very specific questions about additional work. Said attorney said, I knew you were a good paralegal, but you've been completely wasted here, thank you for getting all of this finished how I wanted it. It was nice to get a compliment, it's been awhile.

Otherwise, just trying to hang on through all of this stuff. Trying to figure out a balance between, I need a new hobby, and being so damn tired.
