And the showings/background check rent hell continues, lol. The person who gave us the deposit had a recent eviction come up on her background check. She swears it was dismissed and sent us the court document. That I can talk to her attorney later today, blah, blah. The document shows the plaintiff won. But then there are two stamps that say "Dismissed" on it. I'm calling the court directly in a bit and am hoping they will disclose what the actual verdict was. However, it's still alarming because the case was filed in June 2021 and the hearing was Jan. 2022. The only reason it would have taken that long for the trial is because it was related to non-payment of rent. So, even if it was dismissed for some reason, I'm not sure I care. She's also not living there anymore.
For more crazy stories. We do open house type showings. As such, there can be more than one potential applicant seeing the house at the same time as other people. This was the case yesterday and a man pulled my H aside to speak "privately". He told him, "You know black people don't pay, right?" OMG, are you kidding me!?!? And just for a touch of irony, he was a POC himself (Hispanic).
It's always startling to me when people are so blatantly racist, especially to a stranger. But did he actually think that would win him "points"? We would never rent to someone like that.
Unfortunately, today will be a hectic day also. I have to finish my weekly Costco scanning after work and then I need to go pick up my MINI Cooper. I made an appointment to take my Ford Ranger to Firestone on Tuesday, lol.
