    Happy April Fools Day!

Anyone been pranked yet? Good ones?

I have to get new tires and an air filter before hitting the road on the 12th.  That’s about it.  Yesterday I had a girl from a meetup schedule a trivia night near me. 6 rsvp’d yes and 3 showed.  That was ok because our little group went from 8 (out of 12) to second place by wagering the max points and getting the order of internet sensations correctly!
    planking challenge
    harlem shake challenge
    ice bucket challenge
    mannequin challenge

I “place” (usually 2nd or 3rd) a lot when I do these things.. but don’t ever think I’m carrying the team.  I’m good and getting together with smart people.

  • If the prank isn't obvious I'm just not into it.  I feel like my stress level is higher than normal so if it isn't something like what Chiquito did this morning when he said, "There's a HUGE spider in my room.  It's THIS BIG (motions to make spider with 12" diameter)....April Fool!" then I am not into it.  April Fool shouldn't be a license to be an ass.

  • I wish it was a prank, but my coworker is home because her daughter tested positive.

We've still got RAT tests and I'll likely pick more up in case.
Tomorrow we're going to the sugar bush with IL's - we're doing a different one than they originally suggested because the pancake house is open.

BK was invited to a bday party on Sunday, so we're going to go. It says parents and siblings, so M and I are both going. BK is so excited! When we got home, she announces she has a card.
    Uhm k?
She pulls out the invite in a ziploc and shouts "It's a ber-day party!" all stoked. After reading it, M & I figured we should go. M is lacking in friends so he's pumped to socialize.
M is extrovert. I am introvert.
My social meter is already mad at me lol
  • My H and I got enough Costco scanning done yesterday that he told me he'd take care of the rest of it today.  Yay getting a "real" half day Friday, lol.

There's a local to-go shop that I pass on my way home sometimes.  They have a big sign advertising seafood stuffed potatoes on Friday.  Since I'm going (almost) straight home, this might be my opportunity to finally try one!  However, I do need to stop at the post office and the bank on my way home also.

We had a crazy turn of events last night.

The Illinois roofing company we had rented one of our houses out to for a few months contacted us again and want to return, lol.  They just moved out on March 22nd!

They had left because work had slowed down.  But I guess they suddenly got a bunch of call-backs and want to come back for three more months.

I would never in a million years let them rent a unit in one of my multi-families.  Their workers were loud and extremely rude to my other tenants they were living next to.  They parked their trucks on my lawn, which was in front of the windows of the other tenants.  My other tenants, who were great tenants, moved out because of them (long story).

BUT we do have our one SFH that is a 4 bed/2ba and currently vacant.  That's the only property I wouldn't mind renting to them.  The front yard is also fenced in, lol.  He actually saw it a couple months ago, when I was trying to find alternatives for his employees that can't play well with others.

They want it, starting this Wednesday.  Awesome!  My H still has a little to do before it is rent ready, but he can get that done before they move in.  We hadn't even advertised it yet.  I hadn't even returned their security deposit yet from the previous place, because I'm still waiting for the last water bill, lol.  We told him we'd make an assumption for the last bill and apply what's left of the security deposit to this place.  He can then just make up the difference along with his payment for the first month's rent.

This is really good news!  We have so much else going on, I was assuming we wouldn't get this place rented out until at least May.  So it's about 3 weeks of rent I wasn't expecting.

  • I hate pranks. I hate April Fools. Maybe I’m not fun but I don’t like being tricked or made fun of.

My stomach still isn’t feeling right. This stomach bug sucks. H is going fishing this weekend and I’m going to see To Kill a Mockingbird tonight with my SIL. Tomorrow our city orchestra is doing an event specifically for kids under 5 so my mom is taking us and my sister and niece!
  • The local soccer team that we follow made a big deal that they will be announcing their mascot this afternoon. Soccer teams do not have mascots, but my H who has been a rabid soccer fan all his life fell for it. That's about all the April fool's I can handle.

Somehow my weekend has filled up, but I'm ready for it. Tonight we're going to grill out at my sister's. Our dogs are littermates, so it will be a fun play date for dogs and us. Tomorrow I'm doing this walk/run thing at a winery with a friend. It didn't really click when we signed up, but it starts at 7. At a winery that's 90 minutes away. So it's going to be an early morning, but at least there's wine. I'm hoping to purge some clothes and put away winter stuff when I get back, but I might take a wine nap instead. Sunday I'm going outlet shopping with my mom.
  • Tomorrow Chiquito has his 1st Communion Retreat in the afternoon.  Sunday the weather is supposed to be terrible and Chiquita and I have a hike in a local park.  I'm glad I have a new raincoat that goes to my knees and ponchos.   I'm going to need to get out the waterproof spray for my shoes and Chiquita's.

Tonight it's fish fry and stations.  I'm managing to actually like the fried fish so I'll take it - things that are enjoyable in my 40's!
  • Redact all I said ... had to pick up BK from preschool. Lethargic & tummy ache.
She ended up throwing up on M so she's napping.

    We'll see
  • I am feeling better today.  Decided to work all day (since I WFH) and it panned out.  I took it sort of easy so I could survive, but I don't feel too bad, just very very very tired.  And my throat doesn't hurt half as bad as yesterday - it barely hurts to swallow.  Probably all the tea/soap/lozenges/gurgling I've been doing.

Hubby plays pranks on his students.  He likes putting vanilla pudding in a mayo jar and eating it with a spoon, but he hasn't done that one since 2019 due to Covid.  So lately his thing is to walk into the class dressed like a student, sit at a desk and wait until the students find him.  Apparently his one class had a lot of fun with it.  They thought he was hiding in the cupboard, and were daring each other to go up to it and open it, and he was just sitting beside them trying not to laugh.
