I had a really bad cold two weeks ago, felt better for like a hot day, and now I’m sick again. Is my cold back? Is it Covid? I was at a party this weekend where apparently now most people have Covid, but all my tests are negative. Ugh.

Can you get a PCR? There are so many reports of rapids generating false negatives.

Booo. That sucks @STARMOON44. I have heard of it taking longer to test + on covid tests if you're triple vaxxed because the viral load is kept down because vaccine is doing it's job (SCIENCE! Who knew?!) I hope it's not covid though. I was sick on and off for about 3 weeks in mid-late March because of the weather swings. It was all sinuses and allergies.

SSDD around here. DH left with FIL this morning to head to GA for BIL's retirement. Work is extremely slow. I'm hoping bossman has projects we can work on when he comes back next week if we continue to be this slow.

Yes fortunately through my employer I could get one super easily. I’m in the office but my office is fully private and I won’t see anyone all day. Would have stayed home if I knew about the exposure before I got here.

My dad went to urgent care today and apparently he has the flu. He says he feels worse than when he had Covid last year.

We went out to dinner last night to our favorite Italian place. Very happy that I have leftovers today from my meal. However we stayed up way too late watching TV and talking and now I'm exhausted. I already can't wait to get home and get directly into bed.

Not to be Debbie Downer but these were my Covid symptoms the second time.

Hopefully it’s not covid @STARMOON44. I need my test for surgery on Friday. Kinda lame because the surgeon wants it 5-7 days before. And then I tried to clarify with them on it being PCR, and Nope. It can be rapid or pcr. Just not a home test. Can I ask the point of even getting it done with such loose restrictions?

I went crazy mad (online) shopping yesterday. Chase had 10% off categories on mac and olay. Plus I needed my fav contour pallet from IT cosmetics and ALL those sites had great deals with lots of free (and full) sized samples - so, needless to say, I was in my glory. I overspent and now it’s a race to get this before I leave (Tuesday, but to early for Tuesday’s mail). Along with my sunglasss that were shipped today as well. I need those for my drive but I have non prescription ones if I don’t get them in time.The only thing that’s shipped is mac. I’m so used to amazon’s 2 day or less, I hate regular speed mail.

My head will just not stop pounding. I think it's just a storm of dehydration, not enough allergy meds, and general poopy-ness.

One of my friends was like, I think you should just pass a note to this man, let's call him L, while you're watching your lunch show (yeah, we sit together in my office and watch various shows. So far, The Silent Sea, The Righteous Gemstones, and F1: Drive to Survive) and tell him to check a box. Ah yes, the 5th grade version of dating. However, might be exactly where I'm at right now.

Also, I have completely fallen down the rabbit hole of F1 racing. Now, I have no cares about the drivers honestly, but I'm totally fascinated by the vehicle itself. So now L is over here trying to tell me about drivers and I'm all....how much does the gas weigh in the car and how do they deal with that issue with it lightening through the race? Good thing he's interested in that part too, or I'd never be off of Google searching for answers. Like...what makes a Grand Prix, a Grand Prix? What is DRS? What is KERS? Oversteer? Understeer? Heat recapture unit? I'm also fascinated by the city circuits, like HOW does a city manage to go, "These roads? RACING ROADS NOW!!"

@VarunaTT, you need to come sit with DefConn. He will educate you on vehicles of all types and kinds. Explain engines, performance, and pricing.

Also, I read an article about how Drive to Survive is Real Housewives with race cars. That is very true of the drivers, LOL.

Furthermore, I am more interested in the team principals and their lives than I am the drivers. Toto Wolff's wife, Susie, was a driver on the women's circuit (F3?). Christian Horner is married to Geri Haliwell (Ginger Spice). I also find Guenther Steiner and his German-ness endlessly fascinating. He *hated* the Russian driver and his oligarch dad, but since dad was the money man, he had to be so political. LOL

Feel better @STARMOON44! Might be worth testing for flu too.

I'm having an unmotivated Wednesday, but can't figure out why. So I'm chugging coffee and trying to get interested my project. I'm having dinner with my two oldest friends tonight and am so excited to see them. MIL is supposed to get in at some point this evening, but I'm expecting it will be late. They're driving and it's pretty stormy.

I have some anxiety about MIL being around. I've lost weight since I saw her last, and she's always been one to comment about bodies and weight. My own mom is the same way, and it's been really challenging to be around her lately when it's all she can talk about. I know they view it as complements, but it's so uncomfortable. MIL is normally pretty good about leaving topics when I shut them down, so I'm probably just worrying about nothing.

Everyone still negative but pro is M has turned a corner in his plague and they're just minor symptoms.
Allergies are just on me, so as I told M & IL's - I am not getting out of this well.

Planning easter and we're doing my mum's on Friday and IL's on Saturday.
My mum's like "oh you can do the bunny cake" {on going joke - years ago we actually saw my granny on easter weekend so she did this bunny cake. It was cute a.f but so funny. She's done it every year we see her on easter}
I told my mum idk where a bunny pan is cuz OF COURSE my granny doesn't have the fkn pan anymore. I have time to look.
If my granny goes, she's gonna laugh at the cake.
{FYI it's literally a white cake with vanilla and coconut flakes in shape of a bunny}

BK had solid OPINIONS on her shoes today.
We have these mini Uggs that are cozy, but she felt fancy. I directed her away from fancy shoes with promise of her wearing them for easter {she will remember this, I will not} but she still had to wear other fancy shoes.
She apparently can put them on and do zipper? This is new. The zipper was why I avoided her wearing them but apparently I'm a fkn liar lmao

@STARMOON44, I hope you start feeling better soon. What I learned from my doctor after my brush with "I tested negative for COVID, but I'm sure I have it", is...especially when you're triple vaxxed...you can have viral loads that are too low to be caught on a test. But, the good news on that is, it means you're also a lot less contagious if you have it. Less contagious doesn't mean not contagious, unfortunately. But at least it's something.

My work still wouldn't let me WFH, even though they knew I was exposed by another employee and I told them I was pretty sure I had it, despite my negative test. So I just did my best to wear N95 masks in common areas and stay 6 ft. away from people.

I was feeling pretty bummed this morning with a side of unsettled. I need to give some background. And I'm sorry this will be long.

When I first started at my job, I worked in the Procurement department with two other people. The three of us became friends and would go out to lunch together every Thursday. But then, the other two people were laid off at various times. One of them is named G. He came back a couple years after being laid off, but was working on different projects in a different building. But then (I think) he was laid off again.

In the "lean" times, I cross-trained for Doc Control and Steel Management (SM). Fast forward to the present day and, for the last 4-5 years, and my job is a combo of Procurement (I'm the only one for this client) and SM. SM has been pretty busy lately and will be for probably a few months. Overall though, it's pretty hot and cold.

I saw G in my building's break room this morning! I was pretty surprised. He was talking to someone else. So I waited my turn to say hello. But it felt kind of off because he didn't even look at me or smile and say hi. In the meantime, another person came in to say hi. When the first person left, G said a hurried hello to us, but then excused himself that he needed to see the Big Boss. He told me he'd catch up with me later. But it was a dead pan tone. No enthusiasm.

We'd previously been good friends, so I was a little hurt he was acting like he barely knew me.

A little while later, the Big Boss and G were going around the office. BB was introducing G to people he didn't know and letting the rest of us know that G is back working for this client.

One of the main client people had specifically requested G to help with Procurement. It sounds like he won't be taking any/much of the work I do, but I'm not really sure. It sounds like this might be a higher position than what I do, so I'm hurt I wasn't given the opportunity. In fact, G gets an office, while I've been stuck in cube land for years.

The stupid part is, I would rather be doing what I'm doing, than what G's role sounds like. But still. I'm underpaid in my job and sometimes feel unappreciated. So all of this has exacerbated those feelings again. It also might be that no one else really does SM. I trained another person recently, but it takes a good bit of experience to get good at it.

But maybe that's why G was being weird with me earlier. Maybe he was feeling like my toes might be stepped on and was keeping his distance a little because of that.

Anyway. Those are my feelings and I might be making a bigger deal about it than I should. I'm just not sure how to feel/react about all of it. I guess time will tell.

@MyNameIsNot good luck with the body comments, I hate those and people who can't help themselves. Weight gain and loss are so out there for everyone to see (and some to weigh in on), it's annoying
@VarunaTT stbxh loves F1. I'll admit that I kind of got into it during the pandemic. Nascar is the trashiest thing in the world so when I first heard engines revving I initially got turned off but once I watched a bit I found I enjoyed. They have such cool names like Verstappen and Bottas. The cars are sleek. The places they race in are scenic. The announcers in their British accents say things like "it is critical he pull over now!". Yeah, I guess I'm a fan too, lol..

This week is my school's showdown week, and each day has a different dress theme. Today is decade day so I'm rocking 90s (well, a FRIENDS tshirt and my grungiest jeans)...the students went way back with colonial looks to flapper-style, to the obvious go-to 70s and 80s...a few are in early 00s and my coworkers and I did have to swallow the pill that how we dressed in HS and college is now a classic look for today's teens

DH is into both NASCAR and F1. I've enjoyed both but there's something about F1 and how there's this concept of throwing money at F1 and the two drivers per team that is intriguing especially since with the type of car that it is, the drivers HAVE to be in peak physical shape and you just don't see that as a requirement with the NASCAR drivers. Heck, Tony Stewart even said it was hard for him to climb the fence when he would grab the flag after a victory!

My friend used to host F1 parties on sunday’s, complete with irish coffee and cheesy potatoes mmmm I loved those days. I never paid attention to it though, and just talked through it, so maybe that’s why I haven’t been invited back? Or maybe she doesn’t do that anymore?

i’m sorry about the job and G @short+sassy. His behavior to you does sound odd. I hope his role doesn’t take away from yours

For now, I'm taking more of a "wait and see" approach. I don't think it would do much good to speak to either one of them, at least about the job roles. The client requested him. He's already been hired. Whatever is happening has already happened.

For a made-up analogy, it's like if I asked my H to get me a dozen roses for Valentine's Day. But then he doesn't buy me the roses. It doesn't do me any good to talk to him about it. I'd just be hurt he didn't think to do it.

As I'm writing this, look who just sent me a Teams message, lol. G. I hope it's a better vibe. If nothing else, I should get a better idea what he'll be doing in his new job.

Update:
I feel better. This is a minor point but, he is not in an office, he is in a cube. It sounds like he was offered an office, but didn't want to be that close to the Big Client Boss. That's a good point! Not that it was offered to me anyway, but I like my corner cube on the other end of the floor, better than being that close to the big wig client folks. Though they are only in the office 2-3 days/week.

But I digress.

G was also back to his normal self. So I'll chalk up the morning weirdness to it being his first day back here in a couple years and he needed to go meet with the Big Boss.

He didn't seem too sure what he is going to be doing, so not really any answers on that yet. It sounds like they might be making system changes. He was a part of that for a different client, so it's possible they want his expertise and thoughts for something similar they are doing. If that's the case, I would feel better about that also because that's experience that is unique to him, not me.

We chatted for the LONGEST time! It was nice to catch up, but I am so sad for him. He had a lot of damage to his house during Ida that still hasn't been fixed, though he can at least still be living there. But the worst part is that his wife has passed away. I met her a number of times. She was an amazing person. Funny, good conversationalist, and lit up a room with how kind and thoughtful she was. They were married for decades. G is a crusty, no bs, tough kind of guy. But she was his soft spot. He loved and adored her so much.
