How's it going?

It's rainy and whatnot here, but it's not freezing. So there's that.

DH is WAH today too because he's going to help FIL pick out some LVP for his guest bedroom later. They're installing it on Saturday.

DH is putting together the steps for starting a business. It would be a side thing to start, but he could scale it to be a primary source of income. He's found a few free seminars through the state. It's exciting and nerve-wracking. His whole job journey in the last year has just really had him feeling restless about working for 'the man'.

I had Tuesday and Wednesday off and it was so nice to just chill at home. Would have been nicer if it was warmer though! We had hours of sleet Monday night, and then cold and windy.

Tuesday was our year anniversary. We ran some errands during the day, then cooked dinner and had a few drinks. Originally our plan was to go back to the restaurant where we had our first date, but the main draw of that place is their outdoor dining area and that fact that it's right on the river. So yeah, not idea weather for that.

Yesterday we got up early (more errands...lol..it never ends) and went out to breakfast. Got some things done in the garden. Then N headed into the city to see Phish. These shows were rescheduled from NYE. I'm meeting him in the city Friday after work and will be going to the shows that night and Saturday I rented us a nice hotel in Midtown so it will be a mini-vacation of sorts.

I wish I could say SSDD regarding work. I can't remember if I shared this or not, but my boss decided to hire a VP that my team will report to. It's total bullshit and I've been pissed about it. So much so that I walked out when they told me. His first day is Monday, and when I got back to the office this morning I saw that they had made a person on my team move, and now the new guy is sitting right next to me. And of course, there's no plan in place for who is training him. I'm being asked what time to have him start on Monday. I'm so fucking over this place.

I have a cut on my finger and thank gawd for BK because I had a hello kitty bandaid handy lol

BK is actually home today. Allergies or cold, regardless she's a snotty mess. We gave her meds and that seemed to perk her up a lot, but the snot is just insane.
And her poor nose is so raw

We've got aquaphor on it but she wipes it off because snot.
We're rapid testing her tonight to be safe but I'd be surprised if it came back positive.

Tomorrow my mum and I have our spa day. She's getting massage. I'm getting mani/pedi.
I'm also picking up starbucks because my mum wouldn't normally order it lol

Side note, does anyone watch the Kardashians? I half wanna watch because of Kourtney and Travis .... and honestly Kim & Pete.
I've watched a couple eps years ago but never huge on it.

Hope she feels better @MissKittyDanger. I watched ep 1. It was ok. Different vibes from the E! production. I love Khole the most. I mean EVERYONE is always on their phones in that family, but it always looks like Kourt is glued to hers and distant from conversations going on around her.

@climbingsingle congrats on 1 year! Place sounds so nice. But not with a winter coat lol. Sorry work is sucking for you.

Every other week, I’m part of a weight loss group and we’re meeting tonight. We sometimes meet at the local library, and if the weather is nice, the park. Well. Lately we’ve been meeting at panera bread. I loathe panera. I don’t find the food good. At. All. No one’s picked up on me ordering very little every time we go. The smoothies even taste funny to me and I’m cutting back on caffeine/coffee. I need to politely bring up suggestions for other places. For the price of panera food we can go to a diner with GOOD food!
But also, I do have to recognize tthat I’m a picky eater. This is more quality of food dislike over what they serve though.

so yeah. That’ll be fun.

@CharmedPam, FWIW, I don't think you're picky with food. When we were traveling together, we both might have vetoed a restaurant here and there, but you didn't veto most of them. We ate at a variety of restaurant/food types and you seemed to always find multiple dishes to choose from.

@CharmedPam picky vs not wanting certain foods are different.
There are things about picky eaters that I learned about - mostly because M and BIL were picky eaters, and I watch for BK - and honestly there's knowing what you like and being picky.

I don’t know @STARMOON44? I don’t know why we couldn’t book another library room. I think because panera has a false image of “being healthy”. You can order a salad there, and those are “always healthy”.

I had a chicken salad once and there was bone or grissle in the chicken peice so it just turned me off from panera altogether.

I’m picky because I don’t eat red meat (hamburger here and there) or seafood and I feel like everywhere we go it’s a steak house with my crew. And I also don’t really like Italian places. I feel like take out italian food is so heavy in butter and/oil and everything is drenched in that. I LOVE italian food cooked at home where I can control that, but a lot of my coworkers like Italian places too and I’m like…. Eh..: can’t find anything I like there, so I usually decline and I’m the food snob.

Well, this day has gone to shit in myriad of ways and I'm kinda over all of it.

There's bad news coming out of the hospital re: my father. It is almost certainly cancer, we're just waiting to find out what kind, how bad, etc. They found a mass in his abdomen, pancreas, and gallbladder....only he doesn't have a gallbladder, so that's particularly concerning. He has his MRI at 1:00, it'll take an hour, then the results will take about another hour.

I have a client appointment I have to take at 2:30, then I'll be going home. I already was exhausted this morning, no idea why. Work is still just difficult. I have made the decision to actively start seeking other employment. I have already sent out 2 resumes and will be sending more this weekend.

I did finish watching The Batman and I really liked it. Going to try and see it on the big screen this weekend.

I’m so sorry @VarunaTT.

Cleaning the porch and house today. I’ve been putting off the porch because it is a bitch to clean, but H is obsessing over it and I really don’t have an excuse not to clean it. I felt bad, my mom called and wanted me to go to the beach with her today but since I’m leaving and promised to clean I’ll be doing that instead. My mom came over yesterday for lunch which was nice. They finally kicked my brother out of their house and I hope he stays out. My mom already seems a little happier. He was such a scary toxic presence. After I get back from my trip I’m going to go help her organize and clean her house to help her feel like life is back to normal. I know she’s been so depressed and anxious the house has really reflected that. Otherwise SSDD.

Oh @VarunaTT I am so sorry about your dad. Sending thoughts your way.

So far I'm feeling OK today. I definitely felt super tired last night with mild aches and I woke up this morning but got in a 20 minute ride on the bike and 10 minutes of core. I'm no athlete but it felt good to get moving and so far I feel more "normal" than I did last night.

G is back at school today!!!!!! First time since diagnosis

He's been feeling really good and doctors encouraged our normal school routine during this phase of treatment. I'm back at work too and it's less exciting, but nice to be out of the house I guess? Catching up on everyone but sending good vibes and thoughts and prayers to everyone who is sick.

Healthy vibes for all those who are sick!

It's my Friday at work since we travel tomorrow. Tying up loose ends at work and getting things prepped for Monday as it'll be a busy week. Since I WFH, I've been taking little breaks and getting somethings done at home too. When DH gets home, I'll try and figure out what's going on with the security cam that faces our driveway. It keeps disconnecting. I need to climb a ladder to reach it and try not to do that when DH isn't home. Our driveway is slanted, I'm old and at least DH could call an ambulance if needed lol. Need to finish laundry and pack tonight. We're heading out at 7 AM tomorrow and I'm not a morning person so best to have everything done tonight. Feels like we haven't traveled (even for the weekend) for so long.

I don't blame you with the ladder. My H is a strong, able-bodied man who is very experienced climbing ladders. But my rule for him is he never climbs higher than about 6' on a ladder, unless someone else is there. You just never know!

I forgot to mention a few things earlier lol

1 - today is my friday. I'm getting a mani/pedi tomorrow and my mum's getting a massage lol I think we're doing groceries after

2 - I'm giving up my IUD. The issues I've been having are likely side effects of progesterone and I'm just tired of it. The acne is like pregnancy and it's actually kinda painful. I feel like once my dr sees my acne, she may have a suggestion.

3 - BK is in better spirits. Snotty and a bit more tired/quiet than typical but we figure she's fairly stuffed, which I know for myself it makes me tired. Hopefully she has a good nap.

4 - on sunday it'll be 8yrs since my dad passed. Wtf ...

There are a lot of pet peeves with chatting to people about the rental ad and showings. But this is a new more extreme one on people who don't bother reading either the ad or, even worse, the 4 sentence post where I answer their question.

I sent the information we had for the next showing to someone on FB Messenger. I also included the full address, with city and zip code.

Like: 123 Main St, NOLA 70129

She replies back, "Is this in New Orleans?" smh.

We are home now. DD is going crazy because she doesn't have any PTO left to take to be sick (if she gets it) or to be with the boys. SIL has a bunch of time so I said he needs to stay home if she is well and the boys are sick. It will just mean he has to reschedule some meetings. Welcome to parenthood! I hope the baby gets over it quickly. Thankfully omicron seems to be pretty mild all around. H and I feel fine. We would't have tested if we hadn't know we were exposed. Now we need to sit around the house for the next week. The bathroom got a lot done in the 36 hours we were gone! The floor is tiled, the vanity is in, most of the shower is tiled! H and I have some stuff to do in our powder bath because they are going to paint that when they paint the main bath. I'm getting pretty excited!

I have a meeting scheduled at 4AM tomorrow. It's a training that I've been trying to take since October but I keep having things come up, and I do really need to get it done, but they only times they had were this 4AM start. I think it is for people in our Europe office. Tomorrow is going to be fun.

Long ago, I had an interview for a "job that got away". It was an import/export company, headquartered in London. But they had a small 2-person office in NOLA.

The hours for the job were something like 4AM-noon, so you'd be working at mostly the same time as the London office.

I was excited about the opportunity. It was a casual "jeans are fine" work environment. Working "off" times sounded great to me. Plus I was interested in getting into the import/export industry. NOLA is a major port city and that's big business here. It was a staffing company that set up my interview, though the company had seen my resume and were interested in interviewing me.

But they interviewed someone else the day before mine and really liked her

. She was offered/accepted the job and they cancelled my interview.

Aw, that sucks. Especially because your hopes were all up. It would have been nice if they let you interview and then you might have a shot.

Yeah, there are advantages to the early shift, but I don't know if I could do it every day. I'm doing a split shift, so I don't get off early, but I've been off since 9 AM and I'm going back at 2.
