Wedding Woes

Happy Monday!

Omg reunion was so fun. I am exhausted but so great to see everyone and just be back on campus. And I forgot all about Memorial Day so I’m now very excited that this will be a short week (I’m not taking Friday off but as far as I can tell everyone else is which is perfect).

Re: Happy Monday!

  • So glad the reunion was a good time for you @STARMOON44!

Weekend was busy but nice.  Weather was cool but sunny.  Saw a couple of DH's sisters on Saturday.  Yesterday we had church in the morning and then I spent time spreading mulch around our flower beds and getting the hoses and hose reel set up for the season.  I need about 2 more bags of mulch to finish up and may go get those this week.  DH kept the laundry moving inside.

After talking with my supervisor and the manager regarding the job I applied for, I decided to withdraw my application.  It wouldn't focus on the things that I like best about my job (teaching and presenting).  Hoping something else becomes available.

    Happy Monday!

Happy Victoria Day to our neighbors up North!
Glad the reunion turned out good @STARMOON44. Question: how were you alerted to it? No school has ever contacted me.
Friday was a bust for me. I blew a fuse with my electric lawnmower and couldn’t get it up and running again.  That outlet suppored the electric garage door and my freezer, so I had to make the garage manual, and bring my freezer inside. Then on Sunday, I tried another outlet and blew a fuse on that one too (but got that one going at least).. so I guess there’s not enough electricity to support an electric lawnmower in my house.  I have a cordless one coming (probably will like it better I guess).

Saturday was so boring for me.  I need to fit SOMETHING (besides a 1/2 hr facial) in my day to make Saturday nights less boring.  The last 3
Saturday’s I had something to do with meetups. I checked all my meetup groups for future
weekends and nothing is really going on during the summer yet! Organizers can put up things “last minute”
as they find stuff, but still, I like a full calendar.  Don’t make me try online dating again, universe. I’m not good at that!

  • Glad the reunion was fun!

N's daughter had a lacrosse game Friday afternoon that they did not cancel even though it was pouring. So we sat in our ponchos and watched in the rain. She scored 2 goals so that was exciting!

The rest of the weekend we did stuff around the house that included shoveling 15 yards of wood chips into the garden. My back is so freaking sore. But we also got the pool open which was amazing since it was 90 degrees and humid all weekend.

Hoping this week go fast. I need a day off!
  • @STARMOON44, I'm glad your reunion was so fun.

@MNNEBride, I'm sorry to hear the internal job you'd applied for wasn't going to be a good fit.  But at least you know that now.

In my own "blast from the past", my high school sweetheart contacted me via Facebook Messenger over the weekend.  It's been over 25 years since we last contacted each other.  We chatted for awhile and it was nice to catch up.

I grabbed an amazing mystery shop dinner at a fancy steakhouse.  My H and I went there for dinner last night.  Everything was top notch.  The atmosphere, the service and...most importantly...the food!  But now I have to pay the real price today and write the long report, lol.

By phone, e-mail, paper mail, and text. Reunion is a giant fundraiser! If your school has an office of giving or alumni relations they probably have a database you can update your contact info on.

Yeah my issue is I went to 2 HS’s. 9-11 in Canada and 12 here in the States. I don’t know anyone my last year,
so if I went to one of them, it would be the Canadian one I think… I always thought my friends from those grades would have told me.  I’m FB contacts with a few.

  • It was a good weekend.  Saturday I just layed about the house.  Turns out the doggo did not care for thunderstorms and was in my lap all day.  I canceled on my parents since I don't know the dog really well and with thunderstorm nerves, didn't want to add on new people.  Sunday was the Grand Prix with L.  We had a bit of mis-communication about time, but it still worked out nicely.  None of our favorites won, but it was a really good race.

Otherwise, SSDD at work.  Just found out about a policy change, that once again, no staff has been told.  I'm sitting on my temper, b/c it doesn't matter, it's BS and I can't change a damn thing about it, so just trying to keep working.
  • @CharmedPam, I'm in the same boat with high school. I moved after 11th and didn't graduate from the school that I really consider my high school, so I don't get any official communication. We have an alumni group on FB where I usually find out about stuff, but I still never go.

It was a pretty good weekend here. Dinner with parents Friday, chores and chill Saturday, We ended up going to a seafood/oyster place for anniversary dinner last night. It was so freaking good.

Doctor called this morning to say that my $700 US is inconclusive, so I have to go do a CT scan. This is not going to be a good year for my HSA.

Oh this was college. For high school it’s only been Facebook and super vague at that
  • Weekend was busy!  And I am sporting pink stripes.

Saturday we went to "Touch A Truck" which is an annual event with tons of municipal, fire, police, local business, Army and Navy vehicles all over a park and the kids get to go in and climb.  We hit that up before Chiquito's game.  Chiquito did not do great hitting (didn't help that on the opposing team one player is literally the son of a pro baseball player) but he went to a batting cage for the first time and loved it.

Chiquita had a soccer game in the afternoon and by that night we were enjoying some quiet time.

Sunday was church and then i went with Chiquita to the beach where the Girl Scouts planted and updated the butterfly garden outside the bathrooms in the parking lot.  It was sunny and hot and the last weekend you can go park at the beach without a pass (Cars need to have a beach pass in order to park in the beach parking lots in the town.  Residents pay one fee and out of towners have a higher cost).  When we got in and started to set up one grumpy older lady complained that we were "suffocating" her with the crowd of kids  as she sat there and worked on her tan.  She gestured that there was a "whole beach"  that we could could use which....was packed.  I'm all about being courteous to others and respecting elders but FFS.  If you're going to complain that there are kids at a beach I'd hate to see what you think they SHOULD be doing with their time on a beautiful Sunday  - especially while they took time out of their day to make the area PRETTIER FOR ITS VISITORS.

We left the beach late afternoon and went to the marina to meet up with DH who took Chiquito there to swim.  The kids had a great time in the water and DH said he talked quietly to a couple people that we are excited about our new boat and we'll see what happens.  The approach that DH and I do not want to take is to be loudly pissing and moaning of "Oh we might not be here next year guys because the owners can't make space for us." because that sounds like HS politics and it's annoying.  That said we can discreetly tell others that if they see a spot opening we'd love to be mentioned.

We decided that after an afternoon in the sun the kids needed to come home for a meal in the house and showers (Chiquita and I were covered in sand) and then after the kids were asleep DH and I finished Ozark.  I have to say I thought they did a decent job with the ending.  I was antsy watching it but kind of felt like it was what I thought with a few surprises thrown in.

Glad it was an enjoyable weekend @STARMOON44!
@CharmedPam I think my HS, college and grad school know I've moved before the post office, lol.  Plus, my email address hasn't changed, so they reach out often.  Actually last two months ago I received an invitation to my *20th* high school reunion.  I know 2002 was twenty years ago, I just hadn't seen it in writing  :disappointed:

Weekend was nice in spite of STBXH being a PITA.  He recently bought an iphone (used to have an android) and told me it's to hack into my phone.  (I don't have time to go to an Apple store can someone confirm if this is a thing?)  Trying to block the kids from seeing my family.  Just a ton of drinking and MJ use.  Not paying his share of bills. Refusing to sign legal docs.  Etc.
The kids and I jogged a charity 5K Saturday morning, my sweetie niece was baptized, our church had its May crowning yesterday morning, and we had some slip & slide and grilled pizza fun since it was 85 degrees yesterday.  So still a nice weekend, in spite of everything.

Is he attempting to link to you and your profile in a family iCloud account?

We do not have iPhones in this house but that would be my first thought.
  • I have an iphone but no idea how it’s done other than maybe the icloud like @banana468 suggested? My exH was the tech guy and I could see him doing that to me too.

At any rate, you’re not getting rid of him fast enough.
    I know a guy.

He doesn't get mad.  He gets stabby.
  • Weekend was good. Great dinner Friday and just spending some time doing nothing on Saturday. I tried half of one of H’s edibles and got super sick and had to nap half the day so that was a bummer. We picked up Baby M yesterday and just spent the day together. It was good to just take it easy.

Work is busy, and though. People are grieving and it all sucks.
  • I just had a disturbing coincidence happen to me online.

It's my lunch hour and I'm reading an advice column on Slate.

The issue was the LW's sister had killed the LW's fiancee, the night after they had gotten engaged.  It was a drunk driving accident and 10 years has passed.  Their parents want the LW to forgive the sister and he wants to forgive her to, but he still can't even think about seeing her without feeling sick.

The ad to the right of what I was reading?

Skrewball Peanut Butter whiskey.  With the tag line, "Tomorrow's stories begin right here."  (Cringe for the bad timing!!!!)

    Ugh I hate that @short+sassy
@CharmedPam girl I know it's in jest but I'd honestly prefer a hit man to a divorce lawyer at this point.  God forgive me but it'd actually be easier if he was dead  :#

    Word.

my friends were great when they found out about my divorce. They were like “do we have to go and smash some windows?”
”no no no. It’s not like tha - well…. Yeah. Maybe”.

In my single days, I was casually dating this guy.

He was a self-admitted "player", but he was super charming and had a good disposable income.  So the dates were always fun, with no expense spared.  Even though I knew there were others, he made me feel like I was the most beautiful, fascinating woman in the world when we were together.  He just had a way about him, like that.

He had a heavy traveling job in the casino industry that brought him to NOLA about 1-2x/month.  But his home was in Gulfport, MS, which is about 90 minutes away.

He invited me to visit him once.  And this might have just been one of his lines, but he said he rarely told women he was dating where he lived, so this showed how much he liked and trusted me.

The reason he was careful about who he told where he lived is because a woman he had previously been dating, had seen him out with another woman.  She then went to his house and broke out all the windows!  I teased him that he probably deserved it.  But laughed and promised I'd just curse his name and move on, if he vexxed me.
