Wedding Woes

Tuesday

Nothing too much to report.  I took a really hot bath and went to bed at 6:30 last night?  And slept through until 6:30ish this morning.  I think it's a combination of the heat outside, the heat in my office, and work just being draining.  I really wanted to read, but my brain just said nope and off to dreamland I went.

I want to go swimming and out to dinner with some friends this week, but I also want to just sit on my ass.  SSDD.

Re: Tuesday

  • @VarunaTT when it's hot a.f it's so hard to sleep :\
  • Our weekend was nice - my parents visited and H and I both got to take naps and we went out to dinner on Saturday night, it was really nice!

    N was running a super low fever all weekend that spiked Sunday night, turns out he has RSV.  So we're doing our best to separate the boys and clean everything N touches (and puts in his mouth...which is EVERYTHING).  G is at school today after chemo yesterday and dropoff was rough.

    H and I are struggling but I honestly don't know when we could find the time to go back to couples therapy.  We paused when G was first diagnosed.

    Things feel hard this week, but i'm trying to stay positive.
  • Damn @Casadena you all can’t catch a break. Really hope N gets well soon and G doesn’t catch anything (and neither do you!)

  • Congratulations @mrsconn23!!! That’s awesome, so happy for you all!
  • So we've noticed regular occurrence lately of not being able to finish some fruits/veggies. My mum suggested buying less and going back to store weekly.
    I'm going to try that more in August because BK is back and forth to a lot of places until end of July {my mum and SFIL}
  • OH no @casadena! Poor N!!  Also, RSV in the summer of all times?!

    If you were in therapy before G's dx, then maybe schedule a 'check up' sesh or two? ((hugs))  It's so much pressure and stress to be raising littles, having a serious illness and one income thrown in and it's understandable to feel all the things.  Sending ALL the love your way.

    Sending you all the love and comfort @Casadena, that's so much.  I'm sorry for this rough patch
    Congrats to your H @mrsconn23

    SSDD over here.
  • @Casadena oh you're all doing so well and strong! Idk what I'd do in that situation. Hopefully N gets better and G doesn't get it

    @mrsconn23 whoo congrats to your H! :D
  • @mrsconn23, congrats to your H!  Glad to hear it was also a great offer.

    @VarunaTT, Sounds like you needed extra rest!  I hope you're feeling refreshed and recharged today.

    @Casadena, I hope N starts feeling better soon.  I'm sorry to hear things feel so hard, but it's totally understandable considering everything your family has been going through.  I hope you and your H can find some time to go to couples counseling again.  Even if it's just once in awhile. It's important also.

    Super busy at work today and tomorrow.  Because doesn't that always happen right before a big trip, lol?  In a way, I'm kind of glad about it.  I can keep myself busy instead of feeling like the time is dragging by for the next two days.

  • *hugs* @Casadena. You have so much on your plate and that’s terrible news about the RSV. Is there any way you could do telehealth for a couples therapy session? That would save you time in commuting which I’m sure is hard with the kids.

    Nursing a zzquil hangover this morning, even though I only took like, a sixth of a dose. I’m ready for my tea to arrive from Amazon. I’ve been drinking a non caffeine version and it’s not the business. Otherwise I don’t have a ton going on today. Work and gym and hopefully good sleep.

    Congrats to your H! @mrsconn23

    @Casadena, I agree with other PP’s, you have so much to deal with and you’re doing all that you can.  I second @levioosa. I went from in person therapy to online and since we already established the relationship it wasn’t a hard transaction and it was so nice to not have to drive!
    @VarunaTT, I need that sleep.  Gimme.
    @mrsconn23, huge congrats to H! That’s great news!

    Friday I e-mailed  my request to the tattoo artist I want in August, and I think I covered everything they asked for.  Patience is not my thing.  I have a back up artist in mind, and he’d be cheaper - but I want the best. Not the cheapest.  I want a yay or nay. Hurry up and tell me!

  • @Casadena I'm so sorry you can't catch a break.  Fingers crossed that the recovery is quick from RSV!

    @mrsconn23 congrats to the hub!

    It's the 2nd to last day of school here.  We have the last soccer practice and girl scout bonfire at the beach tonight.  I'm looking forward to fresh air later and bourbon after dark.
  • @mrsconn23, that's fantastic news! It also works out that today is national bourbon day!

    I'm finally back from vacation and a lot of craziness. Vacation was good and generally relaxing. It was good to just disconnect and hang out on the beach.

    Leading up to the trip was a little ridiculous, though. I think I mentioned a while back that doc was concerned about a mass during my routine annual and wanted me to do some testing. It turned out to be a lot of hassle and expense. Doc wanted me to come and do results in person, so I just kind of had to stew on it the whole trip. I still don't have anything definitive, but it looks like surgery is next. So this should be fun.

    Nothing much else going on. It's hot and gross here. I don't really understand how humans existed before AC.
    I hope everything turns out okay, but just having to have surgery to check is frustrating.

    To the bolded, I have that thought all the time in the summer.  High ceilings was one big help, but that was probably only for rich people back in the olden days.  Plus, in the 1700 and 1800s, people wore so much extra clothing that was tight and constrictive.  Corsets, shirts/dresses buttoned up to your throat, cravats.

    I've lived in three houses built before a/c.  Two of them, including my own home, were very early 1900s.  About 13' ceilings.  Without a/c, they're about 5-10 degrees cooler than the outside air.

    But the big'un was built in the 1850s.  It had 16 ft ceilings.  We could leave the a/c off all day.  You'd walk into the house and the temperature drop was so dramatic, it felt like the a/c was on.  It was 15-20 degrees cooler than the outside.

    Unfortunately, that worked against us in the winter, lol.  Any heat generated just rose up to the ceiling.  We'd stay bundled up in the house, all the time.

  • Hugs @Casadena. Hope G stays RSV free. I agree telehealth for therapy if that is possible.

    Congrats to mr @mrsconn23! Awesome news.
    Nothing much to report here. I just got off a norwex business call and really need to up my game.

    Today is the 25th anniversary of the founding of my local Y. I volunteered this morning to greet people and hand out treats. This evening we have a reception with local dignitaries speaking.
