Tuesday that feels like Monday

I hope everyone had a good 4th.  Or 1st (for our Canadian Knotties).

My H and I didn't do much.  Major grocery shopping run on Sunday.  Because of my trip, it had been a few weeks since we'd done that.  Though we did a small trip earlier in the week.  My Costco gig job is back on, starting this week.  Same pay.

I had such a productive morning.  I was so busy last week, that I hadn't been able to do a deep dive in all the e-mails I'd missed while I was on vacation.  I was finally able to finish and clear all that out today.  Not even one "unread" e-mail left, lol.

Re: Tuesday that feels like Monday

  • I had such a nice relaxing weekend. After this, we have something going on every weekend until the end of August. The summer filled up quick!

I did lots of floating and drinking and eating. We BBQed most nights. Set off fireworks with the kids Saturday night. Got some cleaning and laundry done. Aside from some rain on Saturday, it was great weather all weekend. And N and I got to spend an awesome day together just the two of us.

I have a new team member that started today so I'm training him. So not what I want to be doing today. Meh. The day is going quick though.
  • We had a good 4-day weekend.

Friday we took a little road trip to a small town about an hour away.  There is a Norwegian-American museum there that was interesting.  We had lunch at a recommended pizza place.  Then we drove to another nearby town that had a clock museum.  My DH had been there as a kid and had always wanted to go back.  It was interesting but wouldn't have driven down just for that.

Saturday we hung out at home.  My nail appointment had been rescheduled from earlier in the week, so I did that and ran to Walmart for a few things.

Sunday was church and then we hit up the outlet mall near here.  Not much there any more but they still have a Bath and Body Works and Old Navy outlets.  Stocked up on hand soaps and inexpensive t-shirts lol.

Yesterday we hung around home.  It rained much of the morning/early afternoon and then turned super humid.  I did laundry and made two different kinds of scones - cinnamon and raspberry.  It was my first time trying them.  The cinnamon ones turned out well.  The raspberry dough was too wet after adding the berries and I should have adjusted the other liquid or added a bit more flour.  They taste good but didn't hold their shape.  We watched the Macy's firework display from NYC.  It was great - no mosquitos, no humidity or annoying folks!  I took a nap after baking and then, of course, couldn't fall asleep last night so I stayed up watching TV too late.

More mass shootings over the weekend and I just can't even process anymore.

Cleaning folks are coming this afternoon and I have a haircut tonight.  That's about all the excitement here.

  • Weekend was good. We came home Saturday from DD's. Friday night we saw Six at Broadway on Chicago. We really enjoyed it. I had started watching the Spanish Princess on Starz so I binged the rest of the weekend and finished the series (2 long seasons). I have read all of Phillipa Gregory's books about the War of the Roses and the Tudors. Now I'm going to watch the other shows.

Yesterday was awful. DD drives through Highland Park on her way to work and did so yesterday since she was on call. She went through before the shooting. She met SIL at his parents' house so they could take the kids to the beach. The shooter was caught in that town. It is so disgusting that those weapons are available legally! Something has got to be done!
  • The shootings are awful, I couldn’t help but cry every time I had to mention them. The weekend was good. I went to a few last minute meetups and then an organizer invited me to her house for a pool party and grill. The people there were mostly from meet ups but also her hubby and another member’s.  They had me in stitches and It felt really nice to be invited.  I was invited to a few things when people heard of my canceled flight. Yesterday I was supposed to go to a firework display but most of Chicagoland canceled them.

SIL is still not doing good.  She has severe anemia.  I was reading up on that and low iron and kinda noticed I fell in a lot of those categories. I have some iron and vitamin c supplements on my Walmart pick up.  The oddest one is excessive sweating while I eat/drink. It doesn’t happen at home (well, it happened once at home) or work. Only when I eat out.  I thought it was eating along with alcoholic beverages, but on Sunday I had coffee.  Sitting in a very cool a/c’d restaurant and I was just drenched in sweat.  I had to go home and shower before my next event.  I thought it was peri menopause, but it’s the ONLY symptom I have, and no night sweats. It’s random and the oddest thing.

  • Weekend was mostly good.

Friday, we took the boat out to a new lake.  Unfortunately, we broke down.  Luckily, we were with some friends and they towed us back.  It took for-ev-er to get towed back (like, well over an hour).  It was an easy fix, thankfully.  It was a long day.

Saturday, we went running around and then DH took DefConn to a friend's house who has a ton of property to ride his dirt bike.

Sunday, DH went to help his uncle with a project.  I deep cleaned the kitchen and then enjoyed some peace and quiet.

Monday, we had FIL, the kiddo, and our friends M+L, and their kids over for dinner and fireworks.  We kept it pretty low-key.

DH and the kiddo started new jobs today.  Wahoo.
  • Always a good feeling to catch up on the inbox @short+sassy !

I had a good and busy 4-day weekend. Friday, I met my friend and her kids at the zoo. I have a membership so we only stayed 2 hours because it was HOT, then we went to lunch. It was fun but 4 kids, 2 moms was tiring. Then I took my kids to my in-laws and we went for a swim, came home and my parents came over for dinner and cake to celebrate my mom and I's birthdays.

Saturday, I caught up on some cleaning went to swim-lessons.In the afternoon, we went to my in-laws so my husband could finish the railings on the deck he built for the above-ground pool and me and the kids swam again. We stayed for dinner and they grilled-out.

Sunday, our friend came over and helped my Husband dig out a stump for a pine tree we had cut down. We got some other things done around the house and I took my daughter to a volunteer program at the local shelter to read books to the shelter dogs! It was adorable. Then we took the kids to the park but discovered they were also having a festival so the kids got to get their face painted, do some bounce-houses and we got suckered into dip-n-dots.

Monday, we headed out to my parents for their fourth-of-July parade followed by grilling -out again. Now, I'm at work. I caught up on emails this morning but otherwise not feeling it today.
  • Off today and I am sooo glad. This weekend was a lot. My dad came over to work on the bathroom and he’s just a little much sometimes. Yesterday was pretty fun. We had a good amount of people come by and we did a BBQ. I was planning on hiking today but I think I might spud out on the couch instead. My grandfather actually made it out but I think it might be the last time he comes to our place. My heart hurts a little bit because he was obviously very tired and not feeling well. I tried to focus on just spending time with him but it was sad too. But otherwise it was a fun event. We have way too much food left over so I’ll be eating burgers all week, lol.

  • Pretty good 3 day weekend here. Saturday we worked on the fence until we ran out of supplies. Home Depot doesn't have the posts in store, so we had ordered them. I was expecting them over the weekend, but they're still not here, so fence is stalled for now. Then Saturday night we went out for a date night and salsa dancing. Yesterday we ran the Peachtree, which is a massive 10k here. It was so hot and humid, but a ton of fun. Then we mostly just chilled and snacked for the rest of the day. My surgery is tomorrow, so I'm working on getting all my ducks in a row to be out of work and out of it for a bit. I'm hoping HD shows up today so that I can work on the fence some tonight, but it looks like H might be doing it solo next weekend.
Oh my gosh Peachtree is a bucket list race for me! I saw the conditioners were really bad when watching the elite race. I hope your surgery goes smoothly tomorrow and you have minimal pain.
  • I’m in Detroit on the way back to Buffalo. I’m exhausted and ready to be home. The memorial was nice, but sad, and being around my family without H as a buffer for that long is tough.

I also don’t know what to say about the shootings. We were at a parade when it happened. How do r keep choosing to live like this.
  • @MyNameIsNot, good luck with your surgery tomorrow.

It was so much fun; I hope you do it one day! I cannot wrap my head around how people can do it in under 30 minutes, especially with the humidity. I guess they're professional athletes and all, but still it's so impressive.

I've tried to update a few times and keep getting distracted lol

Thursday - M went to football game so it was just BK and I - ordered dinner and it was late, so we ate in the living room and had Moana on a bit
Luckily she crashed easily. I made popcorn and just binged How I Met Your Mother lol

Friday - Canada Day. Literally did nothing. T'was the plan. We did go to IL's for lunch because BK asked and they were free.
BK opted no nap, so I put on Monsters Inc
That night M & I watched Ep 8 of Stranger things.

Saturday - busy. BK had last class of gymnastics, then we were going to my aunt's for early bday party for my cousin and late bday party for BK
    Plus I did groceries lol
BK was tired, so we let her nap on couch after. Then she did impromptu sleepover at my mum's. So M & I did sushi then last ep of stranger things

Sunday - picked up BK on our way to the playdate finally.
So much fun. The parents are chill and I wish I had a vid of the 2 girls running to each other. lol
Then I broke my baby toe by slamming it into the wall

Those times would be super fast in good conditions I have no idea how they managed in red flag conditions!
  • I mostly slept all weekend.  I think I between nights and naps, I was probably sleeping 12-14 hours/day.  Still dragged butt getting into work today.  Went into HR and told them what was going on.  Waiting for sleep study scheduling.  I'm crossing my fingers they don't try to force me in when BFF is here, but I do need some answers.  I also think it might be my asthma causing the issue.  The allergy shots have been hard for the last few weeks, b/c of the pollen just existing around here.  So, I've put myself on my inhaler regimen and will try keeping to that for awhile to see if it helps.  I did drop down to 70% oxygen levels last night while sleeping.

Oh, and the burns are now peeling, so that's super attractive.  Silverstone on Sunday was fun and I really didn't do much else but household chores and read.

  • @MissKittyDanger Sorry about your toe!  Sounds painful.

Canada Day we played DnD, then on Saturday we went to Medieval Times to see my brother and his family.  Saturday and Sunday I started getting ready for my kitchen reno, sanding my cabinets to make them look new.

Hubby is uber stressed right now.  School just ended last week, but he's got a new project to be stressed about.
