Happy Friday!

New appliance day for us!  We're getting out new fridge and dishwasher any minute.  So excited!  (is this what growing up feels like?) They're stainless and our old ones are black so i also think out kitchen will look a lot lighter and more updated which i'm excited about!  Now i just need to organize the kitchen a little better and we'll be in business!  What's up for the weekend?

Re: Happy Friday!

  • Yes @Casadena, you just summed up adulting.
I’m only posting this in hopes you’ll hate me.  Nuts.com has amazing food.  I found a lot of sugar free items that taste SO good and not diet at all! They also have normal people foods, like veggie chips (low sodium!), unique trail mixes, baking items  and other nuts (of course), candy and snacks. So far, I’ve loved everything I’ve ordered.  I also think it’s a family owned business. I like that.
wfh today.  My Saturday facial moved over to tonight at 6, and then catching up with an old friend for dinner at 8. Weekend is busy busy!

  • @Casadena it's like when I got my new washer/dryer. I peeked adulting because the sheer joy lol
We went from a white stove to a black stove and it doesn't look super dark in our kitchen, but the colour change always changes things up a lot
  • @mrsconn23 one thing I miss about wfh - not having to worry about outfits. Then it was the 2nd thing I missed about working in the office lol
  • I think BK has nasty allergies. A cold doesn't make sense but it's still possible. I may swap her allergy meds and see if it helps {reactin vs claritin}
Hopefully it works because we were hoping to do beach tomorrow :(

We have a nation-wide outage of internet/phone/cable for one company. So it's been friggen super. *eye roll*

I'm set for 2 sessions with clients today and I'm about to just .... nope. Lol
I can feel my anxiety rising so that's also super.
  • @casadena, when we got our stainless fridge it really brightened up the kitchen - we already had other stainless steel appliances but that was the biggest.
Low key weekend other than going to the lake tomorrow. We are finally getting some rain today but I don't think it will much unfortunately. It is suppose to be really nice at the lake though.

Nuts.com has commercials where I live that focus on their history and that it's a family business (supposedly).  Thanks for the recommendation.  I might check them out.  If they offer referral codes, PM me one and I'll use it if I buy something.

Per their website address, they didn't sound appealing because I can buy nuts for I assumed a lot cheaper from other places.  I bought a giant bag of cashews from Amazon a few months ago and am still chugging through it, lol.  But now that I know they have other goodies, I'm more interested.

I am finishing my Costco weekly scan after work.  No real plans for the weekend, but I want to do some more organizing in the house.

We have a bathroom pantry and we had to take everything out of it to get our shower fixed.  I came back from my trip and my H tells me, "I put everything back in the pantry!"

Me thinking, "Oh good!  How great.  That was a big job."

Then I look in the pantry.  All he did was take the boxes we had temporarily put things in and put those boxes into the pantry.  WTF!?!?  That's totally useless.  You can't see what's in them and they're too heavy and bulky for me to lift them out myself.  I wish he'd just left them in the bedroom where they were temporarily residing, until we got our pantry figured out.

That pantry does need organizing help with shelves/implements that I need to figure out the best way to do it.  And now's the time since everything was taken out of it anyway.  It's just so hard to find the right thing for the right size.

Added to that, there is a large area on the bottom of the pantry where a hamper would go.  But we don't use it for that.  It's a lot of unused empty space, so I need to figure out how I want to add shelves.

  • @Casadena - yay for new appliances.  Yep, this is adulthood lol
@mrsconn23 - Glad the notifications went well.  Good luck on the wardrobe choices.  I've gotten rid of many of my on-campus work clothes, I'd be struggling if I had to go in more than once a week.

This work week has felt so long even though it was only 4 days.  Tonight we are going to dinner with my Mom.  Tomorrow we are taking SIL and niece to see other SIL who is in a long-term care center in another city.  We'll stop for brunch and make a day of it.  Sunday is church, laundry and getting ready for the week.

I made a super easy flatbread pizza thing last night.  Flatbread dough from the fridge section of the grocery, brush with a little olive oil, top with your favorite toppings (I used thin sliced red onion, mushrooms, black olives and small mozzarella balls) then sprinkle with Italian seasoning.  Bake per dough instructions.  So yummy.  DH won't eat because it doesn't have traditional pizza sauce and meat so I get leftovers for lunch!

  • @MissKittyDanger, that doesn’t bode well for me

I don’t think they have a referral code @“short+sassy", but google coupon codes.  I forgot to do that (I NEVER buy without a quick google search either!) and paid full price :( and I know you don’t like sweets or sugar free treats usually, but I didn’t mean to offend anyone who does eat SF with the “real peoples food” comment.  That’s just what I call non diet food.  Hey, most of what I eat is diet food of some sort.

Oh one of the heirs to the nuts.com family is a friend of a friend. It’s def a family run business!

This is Matt today. He's physically unable to work or be on his phone.

    Good to know, thanks!

I was not trying to cast any disparagement on Nuts.com.  I'm just a really jaded person and am suspect of most things I hear in advertisements, lol.

There's another commercial that I know is supposed to be wholesome, but it bugs me because the "cute" part isn't true or real, and would (probably) be illegal IRL if it was.

It's for almond milk.  They're all blah, blah about their family farm.  I assume they are a supplier for the "big name" almond milk company.

In the last shot it's the happy family in a group, in front of some almond trees.  And one of the little girls takes a drink of the milk, smiles, and says something like, "And I test the product!"

I get it.  I know logically it's just supposed to be cute and isn't real.  And what she's actually trying to say, but those aren't the words, is she likes the taste of their almond milk.  But the only thing I can think of when I see this commercial is, "No!  There is a REAL quality control department somewhere in this configuration or at least I hope so.  Pfft, as if anyone would actually want a child testing and approving a food/drink product."  It annoys me they even word it like people would view that as a "positive".

For my own personal opinion, almond milk is weird tasting and "off".  The taste of it barely resembles milk.  I tried!  I really did.  Because it's so many fewer calories and doesn't have lactose, aka sugar.  But, bottom line, I like drinking milk.  I do NOT like drinking almond milk.

  • Baby M got his Covid vaccine today!! So much relief.
I forgot they had recently approved it for (I think) children 6 months and older.

Yay Baby M!  I'm glad it's more protection for him, which is also more protection for you all.

  • UGHH @ei34!  So frustrating!
  • @ei34 you aren't being negative!  This is a virtual support system and you're more than allowed to show up and vent about the very real and problematic situation you have.  The way you wrote the post I'm interpreting it that you and your lawyer and STBX sat down to come up with something agreeable only now he's not agreeing to it.  If that's the case I'd be absolutely frustrated too.  Loving someone also means respecting them and obviously you know he isn't or you'd likely not be in the middle of a divorce.

Big hugs and I hope your weekend is good.  The weather should be decent!

We're hoping to get out tomorrow afternoon.  Chiquita has a GS work tonight and tomorrow at the beach is the GS mechanical engineering badge for the morning.  By 3PM all kids should be free and I hope we can score a boat ride.  The city nearest us is having their annual sailfest for the first time in years and they have fireworks at night.  I originally thought we'd go out on the boat but I'm reconsidering due to circumstances and I don't know that I want to motor back in the dark leaving a boat outside overnight that has to be put into the rack.  Still, I think we're in for a good time.

MIL and FIL are off to see BIL and his family.  I love my IL's but as I said in a previous post MIL has been super negative lately especially with dealings at the marina.  I came home the other night and told DH that I think their behavior is going to net us no slip come next spring.  MIL complains about everything and her tone of voice grates on the most patient of people.  Couple that with FIL getting pouty about a lack of slip to anyone he'll talk to and I think marina personnel will not be upset that they don't have anything for us.  This is one of those instances where there's no winning.  DH or I could tell his parents that their behavior is  not winning them any placement with marina workers OR us and that it's costing us money but they're his parents and they live in town and we have to deal with them throughout the year.   I can tell them that I find what they're doing to be petulant or I can shut my mouth and be optimistic.  Right now I'm venting and looking forward to BIL hearing them for the next 8 days.
  • I’m so sorry @ei34. That is so frustrating and it’s horrible that you’re basically captive physically, emotionally, and financially, to whatever shenanigans he’s pulling, which is exactly what he wants. All of the hugs. I hope you have a good time this weekend and are able to forget about it for a few hours at least.

  • My reaction when reading the first part of your post @ei34 🤦🏻‍♀️ Can’t STBx just admit defeat and make this easy for you?!?

glad baby M is protected now @charlotte989875! Or will be soon

  • Baby M got his Covid vaccine today!! So much relief.
heavy envy. We're not cleared for them yet.
  • @ei34, I hope your stbxh finally has a moment of reason and just signs the divorce papers.  I know it has already been so long and harrowing.  I'm praying for you it doesn't get extended further when you are finally almost at the end.

My friend went through a two-year divorce process for a marriage that had only lasted for 6 months.  Mainly because her ex was dragging it out as long as he could.  Fortunately, there were no children involved.  It sucked because he made a lot of money and she didn't.  So the extra legal costs were nothing to him, but such a hardship for my friend.

At one point, out of sheer frustration, she asked her divorce attorney, "WHY is he doing this?!?!  Why won't he just let it end!"

Her attorney said it was because this was the very last piece of control that he could have over her.  Once it was done, he didn't have any tie to her anymore.

  • @ei34 I'm so sorry he's making this so much harder than it needs to be. Like S&S said, it's probably a control thing. My ex fought me over every tiny little thing and dragged it out as long as he could. And it was only to hurt me.
