I am in NJ at the moment awaiting my flight home from a vacation with my friend's wedding at the tail end of it yesterday.

I had serious doubts about coming because my mother had been so ill, but she, my dad and everyone else in my life urged me to go.

Last night my mother passed away.

Thanks. I'm hanging in. I helped my dad write my mom's obituary and we cleaned their apartment in preparation for visitors who will be coming tomorrow. The funeral will be on Friday. I am taking this week off from work with my employer's blessing but I may return to work on Monday so as not to endanger my employment (also just because I feel restless and in need of distraction more than anything else). I guess this last year I have been doing a lot of pre-grieving before my mom's passing actually happened. This last week when I was on vacation, aside from visiting with my friends and some family members (I tried to put as good a face on things as I could but it was hard!) I spent a lot of time just walking around some of my favorite places in NYC. It was much less hot than here in Houston where it's up in the 90s and triple digits.
