Wedding Woes

Say it with me. It’s Monday.

Well my weekend trip was exactly 24 hours, but I am glad I went.  I got to make memories with my family and it was probably the last time I’ll be boating/swimming this summer.  I have to make note of it to go more during the summer of 2023.
In dating news, men are still as confusing as ever.  How do people even find true lasting love? Or am I just getting all the game players? Halp.

Re: Say it with me. It’s Monday.

  • @CharmedPam before M, I was same. I really didn't date - between dudes are weird and being hung up on an on again/off again situation that I wanted to work.
M was kind of a fluke meeting .... which probably why it worked. You'll find someone, but in the mean time just have fun <3
  • Weekend was so good!
BK got her first covid vax Saturday and M got his booster.
She's had zero issues except for her arm being sore last night when lifting it to change her top. M had a headache Sunday morning and was super tired - but otherwise fine.

Saturday we hit a little fair. BK got to go on rides solo and she had such a blast.

You can see videos under "Michelle 4" - she did an alligator ride and motorcycle ride solo. I helped with carousel since we really didn't know what she'd be like.

Sunday I went to costco with my mum, then M, BK, my mum and I went to a little thing by my mum's place. There was honestly just a bouncy castle for BK and some music.
But it was so hot and M was running on fumes quick, so we didn't stay long.

M is off until Wednesday with BK, and then I'm off with BK afterwards.
    Then she starts school.
    Cue my crying :(

I have M measuring the living room to maybe just purchase our new couches sooner than later.
    There's couch/pillow fluff that's driving me nuts.
  • @CharmedPam, Dating is a lot like panning for gold.  You have to sift through a bunch of dirt, to find the nuggets.  I had a lot of success with online dating but, MAJOR CAVEAT, I was in my early 20s.  The prime age demographic for dating.

@CharmedPam, I'm glad BK didn't feel too bad from her shot.  I was confused for about 5 seconds with "alligator ride".  We have alligator farms in my neck of the woods where families can go and see alligators.  People can touch the baby ones.  That kind of thing.  I was like, "But I'm positive they don't let kids ride the alligators. Yeah. That would be too dangerous.  Oh!  She means a little cart that looks like an alligator. That makes a lot more sense. Monday."

I've had a slightly weird morning.  One of the engineers that I support, lives in Phoenix.  He stopped by my desk this morning to say "hi".  I had no idea he was going to be in NOLA this week.  I've only met him once and that was months ago.  TBH, I'm glad I figured out who he was, as quickly as I did.  But it still wasn't that quick and he may have noticed, lol.  Hopefully he was amused by it, if he did.

One of those someone was at my desk.  I look at him and said hi, waiting to see what he wanted, initially thinking he was a new employee I hadn't met yet.  Than it hits me, "Is that S?  Oh s**t, yeah I think it is."  He commented that I had moved.  I say a couple sentences about that and then say, "I didn't know you were going to be in town!"  Saved it?  Maybe?  LMAO.

  • @short+sassy LMAO! Omg I didn't even think about that! When I was little it was a dragon, and it's super fun when we're there and she's asking about a turtle ride lol

That’s great there was no side effects from either! Does school start the 22nd for her?
Don’t be embarrassed @short+sassy if I met you once, I probably wouldn’t have face recognition too.  I’m horrible with that.
We took the kids to a fest too, and the boys rode those cars/trucks/fire engines that just go round and round and round and don’t do anything.  Later that day, we asked the 2nd oldest what his favorite ride was. “Uuuuuuum.  The fire truck!”
so literally a toy car he has at home he can use any day.  Lol. Every day is a carnival!  I wonder if my parents humored my boring, expensive waste of money rides too? Probably.
I know dating is weeding but I need a guide to men’s brains. I’m on a serious relationship site, but yet - I’m getting “hook up vibes” from some people and um… aren’t those from the free ones?

  • Hi all, I apparently forgot my password and no longer had an active email (college email) so I created a new account (formerly Jstump2).

CharmedPam I can only imagine how hard it is in the dating world. I met my H just before dating apps became a thing on eharmony on a free communication weekend. Is that even still a thing?

We had a busy weekend but now I am behind on a bunch around the house. We went to a minor-league baseball game on Friday night. Cook-out and swim at my IL's on Saturday.

Sunday, I took my girls to a baby shower. Well really a "sprinkle" for her second baby. It was a surprise to the mom and just diapers and wipes so I was okay with it as far as etiquette.

This is the last week before my oldest starts school. I am done school shopping minus a new backpack and first day of school outfit!

  • @NBSquared2017, it's good to hear from you again!  How's your H's new job been going?  How are things going with your baby girl (who probably isn't that much of a baby anymore, lol)?  I am jealous of your bachelorette trip to Cabo!  I bet it was a blast.  But I hear you on needing a few days to get back into the swing of things.

@VarunaTT, sending thoughts and love your way.  I hope you're doing okay.

Today has been such a Monday, blerg. I don't know why, but I just can't get motivated today, but everything stupid is happening at work. I'm debating just going right to bed after work. Good weekend, though! We finished the fence Friday and I did all the yardwork yesterday. I forgot what it was like to look out my window and not be disturbed by the grass-jungle.
  • Sending love your way @VarunaTT.

Weekend was good.  The kids were in the fishing tournament at marina 1 and while they didn't catch anything they loved it.  One couple that has kids our kids like also entered and did SUPER well.  There were a lot of categories and they cleaned UP.  It was great to cheer for people who really put in a huge effort including their son who was the #2 for kids.

Sunday was church and then we hung out at marina #2 for dinner.  Chiquita has a tendency to get wrapped up in her own thing and we had a long talk last night about how she HAS to work on her mood and responses.  (Ex: DH said she needed to quiet down and stop arguing with her brother and her response was (loudly) "I'M TALKING!" )  Considering I think the day on the boat took a lot out of her we're hanging out here tonight.

Chiquito's birthday is at the end of the month and he's been running into my office with "birthday ideas" over and over.
  • Busy day, training wheels are off. Thursday they called me after hours and said they wanted me to take patients on Friday. I didn’t really have a choice so I did and had a kind of awful day between trying to find my groove, work with new staff, and using the software system. I took home 6 hours of charting and was pretty bummed about that because it ate my Friday night and half of Saturday. Came in today to see that the other person called out for the next few days so I’m taking her patients and I guess that’s it for my training. So it’s trial and error with the computer system. I just hope I’m not making too many mistakes that are going to be annoying when they get kicked back to me. I’m just on the struggle bus with this EMR and it was kind of shitty to figure it out as I go but as least I pick up reasonably quickly. Otherwise had a weekend of nothing. Made a bad life decision on Friday when I needed gas and said, nah, I’ll get it this weekend. Guess who got in the car while running late this morning with a tank on empty?

    Thinking of you @VarunaTT

I’m sorry about the job @Jen4948

  • @levioosa, at least you didn't run out of gas somewhere on the road!  I'm sure the job will get at least a bit easier, once you are used to it.  But it does sound extra tough for the time being.
