A Good Learning Experience

Over the weekend I finished our invitations, yay!  I tried posting on MMPP but for some reason it did not go up.  Here is my funny learning experience.  You crafty ladies would probably not make my mistake but hopefully I can prevent someone else from doing this :)

We had the local printing company print everything for our invites and I put them together with our pockets and belly bands.  I bought this double sided scrap booking tape and put all the invitations together the weekend before last (took around 5 hours).  When we finished printing the invitations I had a couple left to tie ribbons around so I opened it and the invitation fell off!  Come to find out I accidentally bought removable tape.  GRRR.  So I went back to the store, asked the clerk and redid all 115 invitations with roll on double sided permanent tape.  

They go in the mail March 9th but are done and in a box!!

    I thought I messed up posting last night on MMPP, glad to hear it wasn't just me.

    Congrats on getting your invites done!

    I was debating using a printer over printing the invitations myself.  Who did you use?  Did you just provide them a file for them to print from or did they design them for you too?

    I put the wording together in a word document.  I sent all of the wordings to them and they chose the font and put it on the appropriate layout (envelopes, RSVPs, Invitation, map card).  I went in and chose the color and they added a little extra design.  I did about 4 proofs for spelling, sizing, etc.  Then they printed them in the raised style so you can feel it (not sure what it is called).  I also provided them with the outer envelop but they used their own RSVP cards and Envelopes, Invitation paper and cardstock for the map card.  I printed the inner and outer envelopes myself with a printer at the school where I work (my printer would not accept the thick envelopes).  

    As far as who we used, we live in Yuma AZ so I used Yuma Printing Company.  That probably is not much help for you, sorry.  I would check out the local printing company though.  They were a lot less expensive and turned out beautiful!!  Plus, I was able to purchase the pocket folds I wanted that I could not afford through an invitation company.  Piecing the invitations saved us a lot of money and they are great.
