Post-Halloween groggy Tuesday

Whew.  Kids lit it up from around 4-5:30 but then together stated they were done.  They were tired this morning and so am I.  I know it's one of those "kids these days are soft!" while shaking your fist things but I wouldn't mind it being moved to the last Saturday in October.  Although, in another few years they'll be going out without me.  Looking forward to taking down the Halloween decor and replacing with my Thanksgiving stuff. I adore Christmas but do also really like Thanksgiving and don't like the big jump from Halloween to Christmas.

@Casadena , @charlotte989875, how's everyone feeling?

  • Daniel tiger is a GREAT costume!!
  • So cute! @charlotte989875

I’m coming to the realization that I may need antibiotics. It’s day 6 now and I’m only feeling worse. It really put a damper on Halloween, which is one of our favorite holidays. I slept all of 2 hours last night because my back is killing me, I’m congested, and I’m starting to cough.

  • Ugh feel better @levioosa, I hope they help!
So so cute @charlotte989875...one of my nephews was DT too

Cuuuuute! I don’t know who Daniel tiger is, but cuuuuuute! Hope everyone had a great Halloween. Well, I guess not @levioosa :( get those antibiotics!

I couldn’t believe my 2 yr old nephew lasted the 2 hours but he did! Walked the whole time (so really slowed us down lol), didn’t want to be picked up, and LOVED the whole night.  I won’t be with them next year because it lands on a stupid Tuesday.
I was planning on doing some Halloween discount shopping this morning but from what I heard, most people buy it out full price and 1/2 off isn’t a “thing” anymore.  Even spirit halloween store only does 25% off today and 50% starts tomorrow. Booo.

  • G has been VERY into Daniel Tiger lately!  Very cute :)

He was able to come home yesterday around noon. Just a cold virus that is knocking him out.  Low fever before bed and woke up this morning with puffy red crusty eyes...so probably a peds visit today or tomorrow for eye drops.  Poor kid just can't catch a break.  Strep and Hand/foot/mouth are going around daycare but N has been spared so far.

Both boys managed a little TOTing, just up and down our street.  G was loving it, N was confused and just wanted to play in other peoples yards.  We got a few good pictures and overall it was a good night.  Both boys went to bed early and easily!
  • Sorry that so many people are sick!  I hope you all kick your colds!

Not too many kids came to our house this year, but we never expect that many.  We did have a few pass our house - we didn't have any decor up, so I think they didn't want to bother us.  We did finally get some, so I got rid of some candy.

It was warm here, but raining.  Can't win with Halloween in southern Ontario - it either snows or it's raining.

  • @charlotte989875 cute!

@CharmedPam Daniel Tiger is actually part of a side show of Mr Roger's Neighborhood. BK uses their cleaning song to pick up toys lol
  • Waiting on a nurse to call back, but BK might have croup.
We've never experienced it so just not sure what point is dr visit necessary.

You can hear it's phlegmy but the cough is just ... a tad barky that has me concerned.

Anyways I'm getting update from M shortly {BK is home} and hopefully BK is ok.

TOT'ing was good. BK had no cough but would randomly lose her voice.
She was exhausted but honestly she didn't seem sick. Then the cough came :\
  • @charlotte989875, M is adorable!

I don't know what it is about young kids, babies, and animals in costume, but their already high cuteness level spikes up even more.

Almost no one dresses up at my work but one of the few coworkers who did had a really neat costume.  She was a witch, but a fall-themed witch.  She was wearing a pointy hat, but it was fawn brown and had fall decor on it, like autumn leaves.  She paired it with a blouse that had a print in oranges, yellows, and browns and her mid-calf skirt was a similar brown to her hat.  Such a unique twist on a common Halloween costume!

But now it is November 1st and time to get back to the grind.

If she's barking like a seal that can be croup.  Chiquita once had that bark that turned to pneumonia so watch for it.  Plus, RSV is also a major issue right now in the states.

Am I remembering correctly that you were a T-Rex one year?  It was such a funny costume and I think it was you.  It was definitely someone from WW.

  • I'm at work today.  Checked in on mom and she said she did okay yesterday.  She had a friend staying with her for the weekend and Monday and said she was glad to have had the company, but glad to be alone again as well.

i am really enjoying playing World of Warcraft again.  It's just for me, no guild stuff, no dungeon runs so far.  It gives me something "fun" to do at home, that I can't really turn into producing something, so that's nice as well.  My next door neighbor that I adore, does play as well and keeps mentioning playing together, but so far he hasn't shown up and I'm not pursuing it.

I also cleaned up my contacts.  I'm tired of the "empty" friendships (as I saw them called on a website I follow) and got rid of them.  I highly doubt these people even notice that I don't reach out anymore or have them on FB.  I'm okay with all aspects of that.  I'm trying not to turn into an absolute loner, but I am starting to become really choosy with my time.

Speaking of which, L was one of them that I had dumped as an empty friendship.  Well....dammit, IDK if I'm borrowing trouble or just admitting things, but....there is a state park out here that is doing a special history night on Saturday.  I don't have a lot of friends that 1. like history like I do and 2. can go do something with short notice on a Saturday night.  L is both of those, so I asked and he's going with me.  But I'm like....am I borrowing trouble and chasing someone unavailable or am I just asking a friend?  I am tired of mental health patterns, issues, and healing, so I'm just deciding it's a friendly thing, I'm having fun, and screw the rest.

Otherwise, SSDD.  i've had to start using my inhaler, which hopefully comes to an end, b/c I can't take the allergy shot with the inhaler usage 48 hours before, which is basically tomorrow.  Ugh, this entire process better pay off next year.

Not me, but that would be a fun costume!  I know someone with a T-rex costume, they dressed it in armour and made it "scarier".

It's barky but I wouldn't say seal yet. It's nasty

RSV is nasty here too. We've never experienced either so I'm hoping he nurse call back will give us a range of "handle at home" vs "see the clinic/emerg"
  • Phew! Just finished a major work project that has had me working the last two weekends and lots of extremely late nights/early mornings. I’m taking care of a couple things I’ve been ignoring today and then taking a sick day tomorrow.
  • Update -
Instead of a nurse, my dr called.

Not croup. Cough is phlegmy and croup is dry.

Likely a virus though - could just be a nasty chest cold. Dr gonna call later to see how BK is doing.
  • @MNNEBride, Congrats on the promotion!  Though I hope they fill your soon-to-be empty position sooner than that.  Q2 2023 is a long time to be doing the work of two people!
