It's going to be an annoying work day.  This weekend, they are replacing the carpets in the room that has my cube.  I have to take everything off my tables/desk and everything I have on the floor and move them to an empty office.  I'm about to get started on that.  I hope it doesn't take as long as I'm thinking it will.

I was planning to stop at City Hall and then the bank today, when I get off work.  Bad news: it's Veterans Day, so both of those places will be closed.  Good news: I realized this before I bothered going to either one, lol.  I will probably go to Harrahs instead.  Do a little gambling, since I have $15 in slot play.  But mainly to pick up my cruise certificate.

Looking at the weather, temperatures are making a big drop starting tomorrow.  Looks like our fabulous days in the 70s are over until March.  Oh well.  It was good while it lasted, but that perfect time of not needing a/c or heat is always too short!

I have a new nightgown I've been waiting to break out.  It looks like a hoodie sweatshirt, except it's long and goes to about the knees.  It's made of a velour-like material and seems like it will be really warm.

Re: Friday

  • BK was suppose to sleepover at IL's this weekend, but SFIL is starting to get sick, so we canceled that.
My mum is gonna watch her a bit Saturday so we can get what we planned done - which is always easier without BK around.

New plan is next weekend, SFIL is gonna watch BK while MIL and I see "Pretty Woman" as a play :)
Before SFIL suggested it, I joked that if he was still sick that MIL could invite me lol

So M has an evening solo :) Which is nice, cuz honestly he doesn't get it. Usually his evenings solo are when BK and I go to bed.
He joked nothing will change though lol

Also why t.f are photo packages so fkn expensive? And why do we have such a big family :\ lol $50 for package we want
  • @missJeanLouise, you can tell the holidays are getting near as scams are getting more rampant.  I had two telemarketing calls yesterday with both of them being obvious, well-known scams.  I get a fair amount of telemarketing calls, but not usually blatant scam ones.  One of them was something about needing more information so they can send me my federal grant money.  Because you know how the US government is always sending people money for grants they didn't apply for (eyeroll).  The other was an auto-message from "Amazon" about discrepancies with my "iPhone order".

On the plus side, during the election season, I only got three spam text messages related to that and NO phone calls!  I've always looked askance that political campaigns are so conveniently an exception to the DNC list.

I'm glad you and your DH had a good talk.  I know you all have had some big disagreements lately, plus I'm sure everything is so stressful with the upcoming move.  You all definitely don't need the added stress of being upset with each other.

  • @short+sassy I guess if you need a good reason for colder weather, a nightgown would be it… I guess lol.  We had the last day of good weather too. Which was great for us because I had to walk to a restaurant to a bar last night (5 min walk) and it was perfect. Yesterday we had our charity event/holiday dinner & retirement party.  We played trivia but our team came in dead last.  That’s ok because one coworker gave me her $50 amazon giftcard and my other coworker gave me his $30 target one.  I then gave the target one to our admin since she shops there a lot (unpopular opinon but not a target shopper).  I’m so hungover but working from home nonetheless.  Most of my salespeople should be traveling, heading home… but that doesn’t stop them from forwarding emails for me to have work.

i’d love to see Tina Turner @charlotte989875.  Have fun! And you too @MissKittyDanger
@missJeanLouise I can only imagine it being a stressful time for you all right now!

  • I missed seeing John Legend when I was in Vegas.  Enjoy @missJeanLouise!

I've been fight cold symptoms since early this week.  I just scheduled a Covid test for later this afternoon.  We have tentative plans with friends tomorrow and I'm to be worship leader on Sunday.  I need to know how to approach.

The weather turned yesterday for us as well.  Dropped nearly 40 degrees.  No snow or rain but very windy.

  • We need to ease into this 70’s to 30’s shit.  Not Wham Bam overnight.

@short+sassy the nightgown sounds amazing!  @Casadena I'm sorry for H's glum mood putting a damper on what should be an exciting and celebratory day- congrats on the new position! @missJeanLouise yay for the good talk!

I've seen Billy Joel and John Legend a couple times each and they're two of my favorite live acts.  The mention of them mixed with @charlotte989875 's Tina Turner musical (I love musicals based on an artist's life and songs) reminds me I need to start getting out to see live shows and concerts again.  Although...taking the kids on a Polar Express train ride tomorrow (first time since the pandemic!)...I guess that counts?  :D

Schools are closed here for Veteran's Day.  Rainy and windy but took the kids on a long leaf walk through our local preserve...baking an apple pie in a bit, because I realized we've gone all fall without one.  Will drop half off with my dad, one of his favorite desserts for one of my favorite veterans.

edit- it posted before I was done writing

  • Just cleaning out my office already.  Starting to try and get things either finalized or a detailed memo written up for whoever gets the file.  Good news is that I foiled them in the bullshit they pulled on me.  I don't feel like explaining, b/c IT DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE WOOHOO!! but I'm 1000% sure they're regretting a big pull they did from my caseload...then resignation came in...and so they can't transfer the shit files to me now.  So I only have 60 cases to do this on and I will laugh and laugh while I do it.

I am floored at the efficiency of the new place.  I already have all of my paperwork for paychecks and health insurance (that they pay for!!! and starts on my first day!!!) to fill out this weekend.  My current employer's health insurance expires on 12/1 and we do not yet have our new plans to choose from.  I just can't wait to be out from under this management.  They're just so terrible.

Not too much this weekend.  I have a friend coming in to town for lunch on Saturday.  Otherwise just gaming and enjoying free time.

  • FYI if anyone is a fan of Fluffy/Gabriel Iglasias - he's touring again :)

I told M if he comes to us, we're going!

Sounds like such a good feeling!

For open enrollment, I almost got caught out in the cold this year. Usually, they give you the whole month of November to fill it out.  But this year, it was only until Nov. 15th.  I didn't catch it in the first notice.  But they sent another e-mail out last week that said something about this Tuesday being the last day.  I filled it out and submitted it on Friday.

We don't have a choice for medical plans (sigh).  It's also not free.  I pay $270/month for an employee+spouse plan.  I think it's about half that for an employee-only plan.  It's one of those high deductible plans, which isn't the best option for me but, oh well.  It's been nothing but a major medical plan.  Even with all the doctor's visits, lab work, and prescriptions I have over the year, I never meet the deductible.  Though one plus is I get the insurance discounts that they've worked out, which is a massive savings on my insulin.  It's so eye-rolling though.  Here's an example:

Pharma to insurance:  Our retail price is $550 for one box of Humalog Kwikpens.

Insurance to Pharma:  We'll allow $35/box.  (This is NOT a co-pay.  I pay 100% of it, but get the price the insurance company worked out.)

    Pharma:  Okay.

Wtf Eli Lilly?  You obviously make a good profit at $35/box if that's the price insurance company's pay.  Why are you charging people without insurance 15x the price?
