Wedding Woes

Good Morning, Monday!

It was really freaking nice to not have to wake up and willpower myself into my old employer today.  I'm going into the new office later this morning to drop off my paperwork (which they emailed me at the same time they made the offer) and see my new office b/c "some of the women looked at it and said they wouldn't like the way it was set up, so we'd like you to come in and see it, so we can make any changes you'd want".  I have almost cried at what seems like ultra-efficiency at this new place, but I know is really just professionalism that I've missed.

I have a mammogram this afternoon as well.  Yay for boob smashing.  Which honestly isn't that bad; it's the face placement that's awkward.  "Hello, yes, my face doesn't GO there and I can't move it there".

L was supposed to come over for the final F1 race yesterday and cancelled on me, so I feel like I'm kinda done with that noise.

I left a nice-but-pissed-off note on my neighbors' door.  They were loud until after 2 am on Saturday night (I know b/c they woke me up multiple times and then i was just awake at 3 am, but they were quiet by that point).  Last night, they had friends over and they were loud AF (multiple men voices screaming about something multiple times) until 10:30 pm, when I finally pounded on their wall and yelled, "STFU already".  The note just saus, Please remember we share space.  I try to leave you alone about noise on Fri/Sat nights and before 10 pm on weekday nights, however you are now interrupting my sleep and peace multiples times per week.  My next steps are calling securty and complaining to management.  Please stop."  (I have spoken in person with one neighbor about this issue before).  Hopefuly this gets me some relief.  Because I WILL start a playlist of a bunch of Dies Iraes, Wheels on the Bus, and Baby Shark, push it up against the shared wall, blast it, and leave.  These 2 cis-het men have no idea how exactly petty this queer woman can be.

Just out here, spewing boundaries about how I expect to be treated, everywhere.

Re: Good Morning, Monday!

  • Ugh.  I had my neighbors waking me up with sex noises followed by fights.  It was NOT fun.

I made my appt for my mammogram/US this morning.  Mine are so small that I feel like she's pulling in back fat just to get something but I'm not going to postpone these just like I had a pap on Friday and other physical is tomorrow with my primary care physician.

Then I'm off til next week!
  • @VarunaTT Could the noise possibly be FIFA related? I know the world cup recently started but not sure of when the games are and how times zones would match up.

idk how huge life changes can feel so SSDD. 8 days until movers come. We decided to do Thanksgiving at a restaurant this year. I was 50/50 on whether to skip it but I think it will be nice. We will go with the last OG friends that are left.

Gym tomorrow for me, DH is planning on going downtown to cancel our visas. Wednesday I am giving my trainer and workout buddy a riding lesson. They are both a little scared of horses, so it will be fun. Thursday will be my last gym session, taking the cat to the vet for her shots, and DS's school evaluation. Friday we will do Thanksgiving because it works better with our friends' schedule. In between all that is just selling and packing.
  • So irritation/inflammation on throat caused by nasal drip & affecting my voice.
I got sinus spray to dry it up - apparently it wasn't done and dr said the drip was very clearly still there - and voice rest all weekend.
I was soooo lucky IL's could take BK overnight Saturday/Sunday because it makes it easier to not speak and rest.

My voice is still croaky today and my boss basically said not to answer calls unless necessary lol

I finally ordered BK's school photos.
I think Sunday M & I are going to do BK xmas shopping - pending BK is okay. Her 2nd covid shot is Saturday.
We're doing out tree on Saturday, and BK is helping IL's on Sunday.
  • @charlotte989875, that is...wow!  Seeing the snow higher than M is really cute in his snow "corridor", but also puts it into perspective how high it is.

Shopped for Thanksgiving on Friday.  Got a $5 turkey with the promo that grocery store was having.  Though I forgot a few things.  I'm leaving work early today to go back to that store and get my flu and next COVID booster shot, so at least I can pick up the things I missed while I'm there.

Saturday was really, really disappointing.  My H and I had been looking forward to going to the Eagles concert for months.  My H had been feeling fine when we left the house.  We took an Uber to the concert.  His friend (J) had free tickets and we were meeting J there.  We got there about 15 minutes before the meeting time.  Right around the meeting time, my H started feeling really sick and threw up.  He also had the chills.  We met up with the friend and told him we were sorry that we couldn't join him, but we had to head back home.  Frustrating enough to miss the concert, but then we also wasted $40 on Uber, smh.

Sunday was my birthday.  We didn't do anything special, which is fine.  I treated myself to mimosas and yummy snacks all day.

WC started yesterday, but the games are in morning/early afternoon. Incidentally, the US has their first game today at 2 eastern. They're not as good as the US women, but will hopefully do ok.

I'm struggling today. We had some friends over for a bonfire last night that involved a little more wine than it should have. I wish I'd saved enough vacation days to take this whole week, but at least it's a short one. ILs are coming in tomorrow, so I'm doing the last little things to get ready for house guests tonight.
  • Good morning!! We had a pleasant weekend.  The only downside is my cold symptoms are still lingering around.  I'm so tired of my nose feeling stuffy.

I got all my shopping done for the week and more importantly, Thanksgiving.  I should not have to go to a store, besides maybe a liquor store LOL, for the rest of the week.  Hopefully if a last minute store run has to happen, I can send DH or someone else.  Friday and Saturday were pretty bonkers, but manageable.  It's only going to get worse as the week goes on.

Saturday night, DH and DefConn went to FIL's house for a little bit so I watched the Amazon movie "People We Hate at the Wedding".  It was pretty lame, but I am a sucker for a romcom and the cast was decent.  Plus it was only an hour and 40min.

Yesterday was quite glorious.  We stayed home and no one came over.  We built a fire, had a low-key day of watching football, and failing to get our to-do list done.  Ha.

I'm only working today and Friday this week.  Tomorrow and Weds are cleaning and Thanksgiving prep. I am excited to get some baking done.
  • Oh no @levioosa. That's gotta be so scary.  I hope nothing gets worse for you.
  • @levioosa, that sounds so scary!  I hope the bug goes away quickly and without any more problems.

  • @levioosa - so scary.  I hope you heal quickly!
@charlotte989875 - Holy Smokes!  I'm used to snow but not like that.

I feel like I'm back in the land of the living after having the crud for nearly 2 weeks.  I have more energy and no other symptoms but this cough, which will last for weeks (my usual).  I had 2 negative covid tests and was negative for Flu A&B.

Then today DH woke up sick.  He's home from work and hoping it doesn't last as long as mine did.  Because I WFH, I only took one morning off.

  • Man, @levioosa, you have really been through the wringer this year.  I hope it stays under control and everything works out.

@missJeanLouise I wondered if it wasn't some sort of "sportsball" as my friends like to tease me with, but honestly, I don't care anymore.  I manage to not wake them up with my jumping and screaming at F1 races on Sunday mornings (mostly around 7-8 am), so they can do the same.  Plus, if it is sports related, this isn't the first time...I knew when any Chiefs game was on and baseball World Series b/c they were screaming with that too.  However, those were not after 10 pm usually (and it wasn't happening so often), so again, I held my peace and acknowledged that we share space and I'm not always going to be happy about that.  They can do the same.

I took a picture of the note and of the note on their door with their apartment number showing.  I had talked to one of the roommates about a week ago, with assurances this wouldn't happen again.  I think the note was okay and the right balance of "we all need to live in peace" and "STFU already".  I don't really want an adversarial relationship with my neighbors, but I also would like some peace and quiet at night.  (I signed it at the bottom with my apartment #, so that's cut off).

  • oh, and @charlotte989875, holy moly, I've never seen that much snow in my life!!!  Stay warm and safe.
  • That sounds scary @levioosa, glad you're so on top of things but no this hasn't been your year and I hope you begin to improve
Happy belated birthday @short+sassy and I'm sorry about the concert
@charlotte989875 wow!  A couple of coworkers have kids at Buffalo who were/are supposed to fly home, so I've been hearing about the snow since late last week, but actually seeing pictures..wow!    @banana468 how's chiquita feeling?  @MissKittyDanger glad you're on the mend    @VarunaTT so glad you've got such an improved work environment waiting for you

Home sick today.  Well, I'm fine.  DD has a fever so I called out.  Hoping she's better by soon and that the other two (and I) remain healthy.  I have all of my ingredients for Thanksgiving and planning on starting cooking tomorrow...if we're all well enough so fingers crossed.

  • Neighbor update:  next door neighbors just came over to chat.  They apologized for last night.  Then they told me the Saturday night had actually been the upstairs neighbors and they are also annoyed with it.  So we've exchanged numbers and we'll go together next time it's a Wednesday night at 4 am and upstairs is partying so loud.

TBH, I'm inclined to just call security on upstairs, but I try to keep good relations with all of my neighbors.  So, we'll try being nice first.  I mean, you know when you're partying your face off in the middle of a work night for most people, that you're making enemies, not friends, in your complex.

    SIB:

Unfortunately, there are also more people than you'd think who just don't care how massively rude and disruptive they are being.

I had two different sets of tenants that had notices posted and were talked to multiple times.  But it didn't matter.  They'd still play music at club level volume at all hours of the day and night.  Or they'd sit in the driveway playing their car stereo at full blast.  I had to serve both of them with a Notice to Vacate because my next door tenants and the neighbors deserve better than that.

When the bars were closed during the pandemic, my own next door tenant had two party groups book his place, though he didn't know that.  He specifically states "no parties/events" in his ad.  I asked nicely ONCE each time, to turn down the music.  Then I called the police the first time, when they were still being too loud.  It took 90 minutes for the police to show up, but at least that broke up the party.  I called my tenant the second time.  He called the person who booked it and told them to GTFO, he was on his way.  They immediately started leaving, much to my surprise, and everyone was gone within 15 minutes.

    ---------------------------------

They have since moved out, but the people who lived next door to me were good neighbors overall.  But for every holiday, they'd have 2-3 dozen people over and almost everyone hung out in the driveway talking loud and playing music.  Which is right next to my living room.  Major UGH!!!  BUT it was only during the day and never too early or late or that often.  So I let it go and never said anything to them.  Though they were obviously being too loud.

Great neighbors and nice people the rest of the time.  But I was glad when I saw their moving van about a month ago, lol.

  • @charlotte989875 That's insane!  Have you ever had that much snow this early in the year before?  It's so high!

@leviosaa That sounds super scary.  I hope it doesn't get serious, but you have had a crappy year for sure.  Thank you for the birthday wishes!  It was a lovely birthday.  I hope yours was nice too, @short+sassy!  Mimosas and yummy snacks is fun, but missing out on the concert not so much.

My quiet period at work is ending, back into a training class for me on Wednesday.  I've been enjoying doing my regular work again.  I have doubts that this will be a good class though .... the dread is not good.  And they never hired someone to handle my regular job while I'm in class, so that's going to be fun.  They did promise!

  • It's definitely one of the advantages of living with a good distance between houses.  A friend described it as "Close enough to hear if you're being murdered but not hearing your house party."

Also makes for "GET IN THE CAR WE ARE LATE!!!" screams to be heard less often too.

@charlotte989875 that is crazy! I mean SUPER cute picture of him but craz-zee.
@short+sassy I’m sorry your plans were foiled
@VarunaTT, so awesome you can wake up stress free today (about work, not the living situation)
@levioosa I’m sorry this is happening, maybe try something stronger in a few days if nothing improves?
@MissKittyDanger hope you continue to heal

After Friday’s incident to the wrong doc, I got into another dermatologist later that afternoon.  And she was awesome trying to get to the bottom of it all.  She put me on another antibotic for now, and then follow up in 3 weeks.  She saw my artifical nails and went “did you get new nails?”
ummmm yeah.  I switched from acrylics to gel overlay in September.  I took them off THAT day and I’m 50% better.  Less red, less itchy but still flaky and a bit of the itch is there.  But it’s only 3 days.  I’d bet dollars to donuts that it was the gel because I have a polyacrylate allergy and couldn’t use the shellac anymore, but I read the ingredients for the overlay and didn’t see it in there.  So now, I’m going to stay away from anything that needs curing from the led light.  However I was starting to get the dryness on the lid before putting the gel on because I went for my laser treatment and she couldn’t do it because my lid started getting so dry then, and that was a week before I found my new guy to do gels. Still a mystery but I’m getting better so far.

This broke all kinds of same day records here!

But early snows aren’t uncommon but this severity is rare. The lake has been really warm and cold air just came right across it in the same area for hours.  Once the lake cools we will just get regular winter snow.
  • We’re weather related in our industry so we have to watch it, and it DID say it was going to be a cold, wet winter.  More so than usual.
Ugh.  I mean I’d complain if it was 110 in the summer too.  Hate the heat.

The comedian who opened for Jon Lovitz was saying *“don’t you hate when you complain about how hot it is, and how you hate summer heat and someone unjustifies you and says - well, it could be -50 with 10 feet of snow.  Would you like that instead? And i’m like… I feel like there’s a lot of weather conditions inbetween that”.

    *this is very badly paraphrased.
