Stressful Monday

Open house for our next door duplexes was yesterday.  Smaller showing than we were expecting.  I only got one offer on one though. Supposedly, another party is considering an offer on the other.

But the offer I do have seems a little sketchy.  She's at the max. of what she's approved for and at the max. of her closing costs, even with my helping her on that.  The offer is also contingent on her getting an FHA loan.  But FHA loans are only for owner-occupants and my realtor just told me the buyer doesn't plan to live there.  She's going to double-check on that with a loan officer she's buddies with (but I know it's true) and then speak to the buyer agent and make sure the buyer is aware of that rule.

Trust me.  If I could have bought properties with only 5% down like owner-occupants can, I'd have at least twice as many properties as I do, lol.

Just feeling a bit bummed that even the one offer I had sounds like it's a dud.

Other than that, my work's Christmas party was a lot of fun!  Great food and drinks.  They had a live band who was amazing.  I also enjoyed hanging out with my coworkers in a more relaxed setting and meeting their SOs.

Re: Stressful Monday

  • Sorry about that s+s...hoping your next open house draws more interest.

Weekend was nice.  It was stbxh's weekend and he shocked me by saying he wanted to kids.  They didn't want to go to him and he was insisting on a sleepover.  Spoke with them and they agreed to a visit, so told stbxh what they were willing to do.  When I dropped them off he tried to say he was keeping them overnight and I couldn't break the visitation contract, but I reminded him that he hasn't followed the contract for two months and he was getting a few hours to ease them back into being around him.  He listened and when I went to get the kids 4 hours later he didn't give me a hard time, and they were happy.  Whew.

We watched Netflix's new Christmas Carol movie three times between Fri-Sunday.  It's really good.  Had our town tree lighting, hosted my annual cousin Christmas cookie decorating party, and was able to put up the tree and we decorated it too.  Festive fun, none of which was overwhelming, which this month can feel like if we overdo it.  So no complaints here.

  • those cookies are so cute @ei34!

@short+sassy I'm sorry the offer was disappointing and hope you get some better news soon!
  • We had a good weekend. Had a babysitter Friday night and went out with Hs friends. Stayed out late and slept in Sunday. Then we went with H’s brothers family and parents so they could get Christmas trees. Since we have the construction happening no tree for us (yet) but I did buy a felt one that goes on the wall for M to “decorate”.
  • My company party was really really great on Friday night. Makes me really glad that i decided to stick around and not take a job outside the company.  I really do love our executive team and it was so nice to be able to chat more casually with all the coworkers that I like but don't have time or access to super often during the week. The bar/food/band was awesome too!  It was nice for H and I to get out and do something fun that was also with other people.

G has finally started asking questions about why he has to take so much medicine, why doesn't N have to do that, etc.  So far we're sticking with "you have something called Leukemia that can make your blood not work like it's supposed to sometimes, so you have to take medicine to make sure it stays really strong". We'll also probably liken it to maintenance (he does routine "maintenance" on all his trucks and thinks its super cool).  He took it really well and just said "mommy, i'm really strong already, want to see?" and then flexed, lol. Hoping his attitude is always this great.

6 kids and 1 teacher in N's room have tested positive for COVID in the last day, so H just picked him up and will keep him home all day. We'll have to test him later :( That kid hates the doctor so much, it will be an absolute nightmare. He's vaccinated, but G is not yet so i'm really hoping we dodge this bullet.

Happy 12th Chiquita! Time flies, no?
Cute story about G @Casadena, I hope he remains strong and positive about it all too.
@short+sassy booo, but you’re in a good market so if it falls through, I’m sure something around the corner will pop up!
@ei34 that doesn’t sound like a bad weekend/pick up.  Hopefully things remains even steady like that.
Glad everyone had wonderful holiday parties.  Ours was early November.

Weekend was fab.  I got to the b&b at noon and the organizer wasn’t in a tiff because we didn’t start at 1 (in fact there was no lunch sponsored by them so we had to go to the town over), and we actually had fun (five of us). I wouldn’t do it again, but the one time experience was cool.  I drove to my parents house Sunday after checking out, and I’m taking today/Tomorrow off.  We played some board games and watched a Hallmark Christmas movie.  I can’t remember what one, but a women visited a small magical town and fell in love with another guest over the Christmas spirit.  You know… that one 🤣

Other than that, I’m at the itchy part of my tattoo process and it’s itchy like crazy.  Keep on slathering lotion when I get the chance.

Have you done acquafor on your tattoos before? I highly recommend it for the itching and healing! H and I both had it recommended from our artists for multiple tattoos
  • @ei34 glad your ex was able to behave for once. How did the kids do? Did they have a good time?
@Casadena I can't imagine how hard it has been for your son. He sounds like an awesome boy though. Hope the road is smooth going forward.
    @banana468 Happy Birthday Chiquita!

Still in limbo over here. I need to shake myself out of it though. Technically we still have tickets booked for the 13th. And our house in no where near ready for that. At this point though, I am prepared to put everything on the curb but there is still a lot of admin work that would need to get settled.
  • Friday night was my work party sorta lol
My boss got us Yeti {30oz} so i've got that today.

Luckily M & I didn't get too hungover because Saturday morning was BK's gymnastics parents class.
We learned BK knows how to do full balance beam herself! She's got a lot of talent and she's really loving it.

Afterwards we picked up Starbucks but we were all tired, so it was definitely a nap day.

Sunday was slow and had to do groceries with BK since M woke late and went to the gym.
I took a nap on the couch as I'm still tired.

I'm in meetings all day with new onboarding stuff.
BK is home because she has a cough. Nothing really flagging why but she could have nasal drip causing it.
She didn't sleep great so I know she's exhausted.
  • @missJeanLouise when I dropped them off he tried to say he was keeping them overnight and wished me luck trying to get them out, but when I arrived he let them go.  They were all happy to see me but didn't look as drained as they looked after the sleepovers...they were excited because their grandfather, great aunt and great grandmother came to visit, and they love family time, in any form.  None of them speak English and the kids seemed excited to flex some of their Spanish muscle in actual conversation, as opposed to me engaging them in random chit chat.  They said they liked just the day visit and don't want to sleepover next time, he claims he wants them overnight, so two weeks from now is kind of up in the air.

Is it possible that some of this is desire but also trying to see what pushes your buttons?  Like, he won't move the chair because if he did then you could have the tree where you wanted it but he also didn't realize that you too can move a chair?

Yup! I was told week one acquafor and then week 2 is unscented lotion.  It’s at the peeling stage.  I think it’s been 15 years since my last one!

  • I don't know if you all caught this piece of national news that happened at the NOLA airport on Thanksgiving.  It's pretty wild.

Chris Christie's (former governor of NJ) niece was kicked off a plane because she asked a Hispanic looking couple if they were smuggling cocaine.

She got off the plane but refused to leave the jet bridge.  She injured SIX deputies who were trying to restrain her because she was biting, hitting, kicking.  Screaming that they were going to lose their jobs because her uncle is Chris Christie and he's friends with Donald Trump.

She posted bail the same day and needs to return in January to face the charges.

Here is a link to one of the stories, if you want to read more:

It's always so interesting to me to see what tattoo artists are using.  My artist recently (well...at least 3 years now, since my last 2 pieces) starting using Sandiderm for her pieces and I love it.  It seems like saran wrap, though it isn't.  Water proof, goes through showers like a dream and you leave it on for 3-5 days, try for the 5 (I've done 4 and 5 days)  You do get the weird ink sacks on them, but it keeps all that healing plasma close to the skin.  Very little itching, no scabbing, and keeps all the color gorgeous.
  • Congrats about the duplexes! @short+sassy fingers crossed everything goes smoothly

It has been a draining last 6 days. Wednesday I started my 3 12 hour shifts. Wednesday wasn’t too bad, but then Thursday and Friday I was alone in urgent care and that’s….a lot. So I have almost 100 charts to finish and I want to cry and I have work again tomorrow because I switched shifts with someone.

Friday my mom called me with the oh so subtle “heyyyyy so what are you doingggg?” Work. I’m at work. Turns out she was on the way to my grandparents who were very very sick with the flu. They both were falling multiple times, too weak to even make it to the bathroom 20 feet away from the bed. Grandpa went to the ER and they told him they were too full and he’d have to go home and to come back if he got worse (worse like comatose? Jfc). Grandma’s doctor refused to give her tamiflu because she needs to retire and said to go to the ER in 24 hours if she couldn’t keep anything down. It had already been 48 hours without any food or water/fluids. So my mom went to my grandparents from Friday until today and I went to help and stay with my dad because he can’t be alone. It was hard work and constant work. I was trying to cook, clean, help my dad, and I am exhausted.

I’m also furious at my aunt. She refused to go help my grandparents because “she was afraid to get sick.” Um, you think my mom wants to get sick either? And also my dad literally cannot be left alone. How is my mom supposed to manage both? Luckily this happened on the weekend so I left work at went straight to my parents to help. Today my aunt finally brought food to my grandparents. She only came in for 30 minutes, immediately lectured my mom about all of the stuff she was doing wrong, and then left. If it wouldn’t cause some real family drama I would call her and give her a piece of my mind.

Now I’m at the dentist getting three cavities filled, because why not for this year lol.

  • @levioosa, I am so sorry to hear about your grandparents and how rough your week was.  I hope they are feeling better.  Your aunt sounds like a piece of work.  Would it have been possible for her to have stayed with your dad, to at least have helped you and your mom that way?

I realized you worked an extra shift because you were helping another coworker.  But have you gotten it worked out with your job to work more of a 3-4 day schedule, like what you were originally hired for (if I'm remembering that correctly).

  • Speaking of the flu, I had forgotten this piece of my weekend.

My realtor is a team with her H (he is also a realtor).  They were both diagnosed with the flu on Friday, so they couldn't come to the showing on Sunday.

It was the first showing.  I've never sold a property.  Owners aren't usually there for showings.  But not a lot of choice!  My H and I did the showings, by ourselves.

I felt like a baby bird tossed out of the nest, lol.

According to their doctor, they will be contagious through this Friday.  So my H and I are handling whatever showings come up for this week.
