Frosty Friday

We made it.  Hoping the work day goes quickly for all of us!  Attempting a Christmas in the city with the kids tomorrow.  They've never seen the tree at Rockefellar Center, the Macy's windows, etc., for a few different reasons, and this is my weekend, so just feels like the right time.  Just realized that tomorrow is also SantaCon.  Lol.  We're taking a 7:11(am) train in so maybe we'll miss the craziness.  If not, we'll join the craziness  B)  hope everyone else has some nice things planned!

Sounds like fun @ei34! I was in NYC one year in December and it’s wonderful! Saw the Rockettes too and it was an experience to remember. One good thing about marrying into exH’s family, they lived near the City and liked going. Lol
I’m in a work funk so I’m glad it’s a wfh Friday.  Actually I think it’s a personal funk.  Weight gain and no real diet change, bills, finances, doctor problems and glucose issues(my endo is ignoring my calls/communications so I’m firing her for that, but also for no real resolutions my regular doc can’t handle)…. It’s a lay on the couch day.
But I am done Christmas shopping! Just need a food basket for Bro & SIL when I get closer to seeing them.

    Enjoy!

I think if we go to the city it'll be after Christmas but I LOVE it there.  Next year I think I want to spring for Radio City tickets.

I have my booster at lunch today and tonight I'm volunteering at Chiquito's school for "elf shelf" where the 4th graders are elves and shop for their parents.  Tomorrow is our town's annual light parade.  It's one of my favorite holiday traditions and everyone bundles up for about an hour long parade.  Local businesses make and sponsor floats, dance troops dance down the street and bands perform.  This year both kids are marching in it with their respective scouting packs/troops and DH is driving the float for the cubs so the float assembly will be all day tomorrow.

Chiquita's troop is dressing up as boxes of cookies and I sprang for lighted necklaces for the girls.

Sunday is likely a recovery day.  I have to imagine DH is going to need to un-decorate the trailer /float (it's our trailer) and we'll have church where Chiquita serves.  I need to start to get ready for a business trip in the middle of the week.
  • @ei34 damn I didn't realize how close to NYC you were! That sounds magical though :)

@CharmedPam funks suck :( Holidays incoming may not be helpful either. I personally find the more people push for christmas joy, the more I resist.

@banana468 that elf thing sounds cute :) BK's school has a holiday shop that kids can go, but we're not quite at the point we can send money for her.
That being said, idk what BK is getting M and I may need to remind M that BK should get me something.
  • BK goes to my mum's place. She hasn't been able to visit a whole lot of my mum because of work and the both of them sick roughly around same time lol
    Our plan is going to be dinner tonight, M might look at starting a drawer tonight {depending how full we are and how late it is}

I'll probably take a bath. I tweaked my neck the other day and it feels like the muscle is just not relaxing :( I'm hoping a bath will help.

Saturday we're doing xmas shopping at the mall. Afterwards M is doing either a 2nd drawer, or finishing the first. I told him if it takes awhile, I can go pick up BK at my mum's since it's not until later in the day that we're picking her up.
I did buy an oreo house and a kitkat house, so we'll probably do that tomorrow when she's back.

I got 2 houses because next weekend I'm gone for the afternoon so I figured BK and M can do the other house together :)
I'm not a gingerbread fan and I like eating the houses later lmao

Sunday is Santa visit after M comes back from the gym. I'm 90% sure he has time to shower, but I told him he has to obv at least change his shirt. Maybe this weekend we can get him new pants ...
  • I absolutely must clean my apartment this weekend.  I'm feeling gross about it. I'm going to go see my mother on Sunday for lunch just to check on her for awhile.  Resting and relaxing.  I adore the new job, but using my brain like this, while enjoyable, has been tough.  I know as I get used to it, it'll get a lot better, but it's a pretty big change.

Tomorrow will also be a "listen to David Bowie" all day, in the David Bowie corner in my apartment.  I can't believe it's already been 6 years since he passed.  I think a friend is going to come over so we can watch the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on HBO Max together.  Otherwise, not too much going on.
  • I'm so ready for the weekend! Pedi tonight, because taking off my socks at yoga was a little embarrassing this week. We'll probably get take out tonight and just chill on the couch, since it's supposed to stay rainy all night. Tomorrow long run at the flat park early, then I've got to patch a spot on the fence that the deer bent. In the afternoon some friends are coming over for cookie-fest. If it stays warm enough, we can open up the deck and set the decorating station out there, because little kids and icing/sprinkles is always better somewhere other than my kitchen. Hopefully a fat lot of nothing on Sunday.
  • I really miss the city this time of year! I hope you and the kids have a great time @ei34.

WFH today- M did not want to go to school this morning so we had a tough start. But tomorrow there’s “Santaland” at the park nearby with sleigh rides and goats so M and I will check that out in the morning then we’re getting together with my sister and BFF to have the kids decorate gingerbread houses. I’m pretty sure M will just eat frosting but that will still be fun for him.
  • @VarunaTT Ahh like a deep clean or just cleaning because life got chaotic?

@MyNameIsNot I joked with M when I start doing yoga I'll have to also start getting more pedi's because my winter feet are so flippin dryyyyyy

@charlotte989875 BK didn't wanna go either. Kids must be feeling xmas coming or something. Tbh BK just wanted to sleep so lucky for her it's weekend lol
  • @MissKittyDanger kind of both.  I divide the apartment into kitchen/bathroom day and then everything else day.  Everything else got the deep clean already, but needs a "life got chaotic and I'm behind" cleaning.  Kitchen/bathroom need the deep clean that it hasn't had yet on top of falling behind.  I seem to be a fall cleaning instead of spring cleaning person.  It makes sense to me, I definitely do things for "nesting" in winter.
  • @charlotte989875 enjoy the santaland and lol eating the frosting sounds accurate
@banana468 I'd like to do the Rockettes one year too...didn't jump on the deals back in Sept but want to one year..full price is obscene.  Hope you guys enjoyed the North Pole Train ride!
@MissKittyDanger i'm from nyc!  Moved to a suburb right outside the city a few years ago due to affordability (still hcol area unfortunately but at least within reach)...I'm 17miles from Rockefellar Center (aka 40min train ride...drive varies depending on traffic).  I take the kids to certain parts of Manhattan with frequency but we've never done midtown at Christmas and looking forward
  • @ei34 there are Groupons that come out in October/early November for the early dates.  I'm going to stalk them next year.
  • @VarunaTT ahh yes. I'm kinda at that point too. We all got sick and super busy then cleaning slacked.

    @ei34 :O !!! Omg that's so cool!!

I know!  Our Polar Express train ride was kind of the big ticket item this holiday season...next year I'm going to prioritize the Rockettes.  What's annoying is there were some last minute deals released this week but for tough times...like the shows today, during the day.  A $45 ticket sounds amazing but can't justify taking the day off work and pulling the kids from school.

Agreed.   Gone are the ages of my kids when they will miss school for that - especially Chiquita in 7th grade.
  • We took a break from our Costco scanning this week, which turned out to be a bigger relief than I was expecting because our realtor was contagious and couldn't do any of the showings.  She has the all clear from her doctor today.

I know it's not her fault she and her H got sick, but we were surprised she didn't have any back-up agents to help.  And now it's time she picks up the reins and does the showings for us.  It is part of what we will be paying her for.  There is one showing tomorrow.

It's enough work and coordination on our side, to deal with notifications and making arrangements with the tenants.  That part is really a drag because I hate inconveniencing people.  But unfortunately, it is a necessity.

One of my coworkers I'm friends with is part of a Gospel choir.  He invited me to their Christmas concert on Sunday night, so my H and I are going.  Gospel Christmas music?  Yes, please!

  • Happy Friday!  We got about 4" of snow early this morning.  DH had to leave the house by 7 AM, so I cleared the top portion of our driveway before he drove on it.  He's back now and neither of us have to be anywhere (I'm wfh).

Hoping to finish decorating tomorrow and get the Christmas totes put away for a month.  I'm making a few kinds of treats but saving those for next weekend.

There is a situation with someone I'm onboarding at work and it's been escalated to my manager, so hopefully it'll be handled.

  • Stupid computer at work decided to freak out while I was finishing with one  class of trainees and getting ready for another class on Monday.  So busy busy at work, but I'm just happy it's the weekend!  We're going to an indoor fun park tomorrow - it has an indoor rope course and an obstacle course.  I suspect I will fail miserably at it because I am nowhere near fit enough, but I will have fun in the attempt!  And then getting together with some work colleagues.
