Sleepy Monday

How was everyone's weekend?

Re: Sleepy Monday

  • Had a nice, quiet weekend. N made corned beef for dinner Friday - and I actually really liked it. I've never really been a fan of it before. Had a few shots of whiskey and listened to Irish music. We had fun.

Spring sports are starting which means E has lacrosse practice on Saturday mornings and W has flag football practice on Sundays.

We had a call w/ our wedding planner, which was good because N had a lot of questions..haha.

And that was mostly it. Worked out, cleaned, relaxed.
  • Long weekend for me. Was suppose to go to the pool with my mum and BK but idk ... my mum kept whining we didn't go anywhere but she just kinda sat and chatted?

I was mildly annoyed because I did a load of towels and packed up all BK's and my swim stuff and didn't go? But my mum was annoyed we didn't do anything.
I said multiple times that I said we can do stuff but she just didn't do anything.
"I was expected you to do stuff."
Ma'am wtf. Anyways Friday I was just annoyed how things went.

After BK and I left, I wanted to get Penny a new litter box but store had none I wanted. We did almost get a cat. There was a little grey 3yr old cat sleeping in it's clean litter box. BK and I thought it was funny. M is surprised I didn't get it.
I told M if we weren't getting floor done soon, I probably would have lol

Saturday I brought my mum her belated bday card - I planned on giving it to her Friday as the pool is near my house. Her and I ended up going for coffee also.

Sunday I went to the gym solo because M woke up with a headache. Dislike.
I don't really have a routine yet, and I'm very awkward so I don't like asking people if they're done.
I ended up doing some abdominal stuff on low weights so it didn't hurt and I did some cycling - which I don't usually do but opted to try.
Luckily I had M's ear buds so I could run tunes lol

I finished 3 loads of laundry though!
And we purchased our kitchen cabinet, but unfortunately as I was prepping stuff to paint - we have to at least do HALF the kitchen before putting in cabinet - and found out our paint leaked!
I couldn't close and it looked weird, so unfortunately we had to toss it. I do like the colour so I'm going to repuchase it and just continue on with that colour. It's already one bathroom, half of front hall. I planned on using it for kitchen and upstairs bathroom then seeing what was left but I like the colour.
  • Did absolutely nothing, and chilled.
I know she’s controversial, but I like Kat Von D.  I was watching videos of her and she was doing a shoe giveaway.  She has some cute flats/Sandals I’d love to buy.  But LOTS of money. Raketen doesnt use her, and I can’t find a discount code! And very little reviews. Apparently her vegan material is nice and soft while most is portrayed as stiff.  Anyone have her shoes? I’d have to finance them, they’re so costly!

  • We had a really nice weekend. Friday night was early bed for the boys and takeout. G requested "frenchie fries with dip cheese" aka fast food cheese fries, so dinner was easy :) Saturday some friends stopped by and picked up a ton of baby clothes and toys - they are having twins in May! and another grad school friend stopped by for a few hours in the afternoon. He was super excited to meet the boys and brought them magnet-tiles, so he made 2 very fast tiny friends, lol. H and I ordered dinner Saturday and started catchin gup on SNL episodes.

Yesterday on of H's sisters visited most of the day - the boys love her and it was nice to chat and hang out. I had 2 glasses of wine last night with dinner and i feel like butt today and of course am super busy!

Had a really great weekend, lots of fun family time celebrating but also managed a ton of spring cleaning/decluttering.  Was planning on a normal/ambitious work day but got a call around 9 that DS vomited at school and needed to be picked up.  He seemed fine this morning and seems okay now...the school nurse said he can return on Wednesday so not loving the thought of two unplanned sick days but is what it is.  Fingers crossed everyone else remains healthy.
  • I was PO'ed at my H on Friday.  Still am, but it's more of a light smoldering now.  We originally had a showing scheduled at 1:00pm and my H was going to handle it. At 10am, my realtor told me it was canceled.  I immediately notified him.  A little background, there is TONS of work to do at both our rental SFH and our own home.  Both of which we want to sell ASAP, but it's going to take a long while to do everything we want.

I assumed he went to the rental SFH to put in a good day's work. Nope. I got home around 12:30 and he hadn't done jack shyt all day.  I asked him about it and gave him an obvious side-eye, but didn't really get into it.  The rest of the week, I'm at work all day.  So it makes me wonder if he is slacking most of the time.  Because he has definitely done that in the past.

I'm going to tell him tonight that we need to make a checklist of everything that needs to be done for that house and our house.  Then we need to set up a schedule for what is going to get fixed when.  And, going forward, we will review the checklist and schedule a few times a week.  A system like this has never worked that well before.  But I guess it's better than nothing.

Work is super, super boring.  Me and a few others are locked out of the new system again.  It started Friday where we were just locked out of MS Access.  Told that IT was aware and it would be fixed over the weekend.  But it has actually gotten progressively worse, LMAO.  It was the same status this morning.  Then we started getting kicked out of the new system, but could log back in.  Now we can't get back in at all.

  • @short+sassy damn I'd be p.o'd too! Like bruh, what are you doing?
  • ugh @short+sassy that would put me over the edge for sure. Hopefully a concrete plan helps this time.
  • I’d be out of my mind @short+sassy
  • Our contractor still has not shown up. We sent him a certified letter saying if he didn’t start work by last week we’d terminate the contract. He asked for a few days because of snow and we (stupidly) said yes. He hasn’t come back. So now we need the lawyer to follow up and end things officially. Then we have to get a new estimate and contractor and our living room is still in shambles.
  • @short+sassy - I'd be livid
@charlotte989875 - What a pain to have to deal with an unresponsive contractor.  I hope the next one is better.

I’d feel the same way @short+sassyyoure very patient with him all the time!
Ugh that stinks @charlotte989875 Renos usually have bumps in the road but this is out of hand
  • @charlotte989875 that's terrible! I'm so sorry.
  • Ugh, @charlotte989875, that sounds awful!

My shoot was super fun.  I really liked the photographer and it was super fun having my hair and makeup done.  We did 4 or 5 outfits, I can't remember now, but it was exhausting.  I was definitely having problems smiling by the end.  We have the appointment for viewing on Wednesday, I think.  In the end, it was probably better my friend wasn't there.  The space wasn't small, but when you have all the props, plus ladders and me and photographer, it started to get crowded pretty quickly.  He has these amazing Victoria's Secret type wings and at one point I was just standing there in my sparkly heels, underwear set, and big long wings, and thought, "Well, this is definitely how to do 46!"  :D

The weekend was fairly chill.  A friend came over Friday night; she was on a mission to drink and smoke.  I wasn't.  It ended up being a somewhat awkward evening, but it was still nice to see her.  I'm not sure how much longer this friendship will last; it might just be a "we were in the war together" type friendship.  That's okay.  Sunday's race was terrible...so boring and Mercedes still is just lolly-gagging around.

Going to a vinyl listening party tonight.  It's at a local brewery, so I'm hoping for some kombucha or something on tap, rather than just soda.  The DJs are doing all women albums, so I'm taking my Ani Difranco Living in Clip and meeting some friends to just chill and enjoy ourselves.  I'm trying to do at least one social outing/month that isn't the bar.

  • @charlotte989875, I'm sorry the GC situation still hasn't been resolved.  Especially since, in the meantime, you all need to live with living room mess.

I did get some good news today!  I have never seen Section 8 move so fast.  The home for our new tenant passed the inspection last Thursday.  Her case worker got in touch with me today and they have approved the full rental amount we requested.  We are meeting with the tenant tonight to sign the updated lease and give her the keys.

The total amount of time from when we approved her application to getting the S8 okay is 3 weeks.  It's usually 4-6 weeks.  Her voucher is for a 3-bed, but this home is a 4-bed.  I was also expecting they'd knock the rent I'd requested down a bit.  But they didn't, so that is also a win.
