Finally. Having a fun city day tomorrow (Lego Store and American Girl Store) for a little communion / birthday shopping. Sunday is my oldest's 9th (!) birthday and hoping stbxh will see her for a bit. I'd also like to visit with my mom. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms / pet moms / those who'd like to be moms / those who play a maternal role to their friends / to your own moms!

I got my allergy shot this morning and it is hitting me hard. IDK if I'm going to make it through this workday.

I got my mother a subscription box of "A Killing Affair". It gets really good reviews as a subscription box. It's a "season" of boxes, with 6 "episodes". Each episode removes a suspect until the last box which is the finale and you can figure out who the killer is. I thought it might b fun for us to try, so we're working on that on Sunday. We're going to order food to pickup from this little Italian restuarant I introduced her to and she loves. It's one of those restaurants with concrete floors and open seating, so it's terribly loud. So loud that it bothers her hearing aids. I suspect we'll mostly be taking it easy. This is the first Mother's Day w/out dad and then Father's Day will be here.

Otherwise, I don't have much in the way of plans. I seem to be going through another transition with some personal things, that I think I just need to sit with this weekend.

*hugs* @VarunaTT the first holiday without a loved one is always really hard. I hope you feel better too.

This week has been so chaotic. I am ready for the weekend even though it will entail a lot of running around. Next weekend though…I refuse to do anything.

We have 3/5 kids confirmed for BK's party next weekend. We'll probably know tomorrow about one other kid and M is going to try and flag another parent down about the only one we really have zero idea about.

BK told me her and one of the kids invited is her "pinky star" So obv asked what that means.
"I means we're best friends"

I wish mornings were a bit warmer. It's so hot at the end of the day, but BK leaving for school isn't so she still needs a light jacket. A few hours later I know she'll take it off, and would probably want shorts but omg. Just a couple degrees. That's all I want lol

We had to bust out the sunscreen and show BK how to put it on her arms and what's showing on her legs {she's in capri's right now}

W's junior prom is tonight! So excited for her. Nervous for the afterparty at our house..haha.
No real plans Saturday other than running errands and cleaning.
Sunday I'm going to visit my grandmother's grave w/ my mom and aunt, then we're going out to lunch.

Happy Mother's day to everyone this weekend!
My internet went out at my house yesterday, in the middle of my training session. Construction works cut the cable, I am none too pleased. Had to go in office, but will be going home in a few hours to be there when the internet technician comes. It's not a fun time for my trainees, I think it stresses them out when I'm not there is help them through the new stuff they learned.
Last night I saw Paul Gross as King Lear and it was absolutely amazing. Such a good time, such great acting. Hubby enjoyed too - I told him the plot before we went in case he didn't know what was going on.
Getting stuff done around the house this weekend, though I would like to go to some gardens before all the tulips are gone.

Dad is home! Mom had accessible items installed so he now rides a chair lift and has bars in the shower to help.

I'm headed there tomorrow and Sunday my hope is that I do...nothing. I mean, I'll get the normal stuff done. But I do not want to cook anything.

It’s beautiful here today! So happy it finally feels like spring. M and I planted outside before school this morning.

We’re doing Mother’s Day breakfast at the playground tomorrow then dinner and relaxing. I’m still exhausted from my day trip to the city so I’m hoping to nap and relax this weekend!

(((Hugs))) @VarunaTT, both holidays will be hard. And what is it about Italian restaurants? Because most, if not all have horrible acoustics. One time exH and I went to one and we ended up just texting each other the convo because we couldn’t hear each other. Great ravioli though.

is that really a thing, @MissKittyDanger? Pinky star? It’s super cute but if that’s not a thing made up by them and all the cool kids are calling each other pinky stars, I’d like to know so I can address my BFF like that

yay to your dad @banana468! Your dad (and mom) must be relieved. Nothing like being home after awhile.

Speaking of that, SIL came home yesterday and was swept away with emotion. She was away from the boys since Sunday. My brother drove her to the hospital for emergency surgery because the cancer is growing and she was in extreme pain. My mom, dad and her mom have been taking care of the kids since then. It’s so overwhelming for all. I’m glad she’s back and can get to her routine but most importantly be home with her kids, especially with mother’s day coming up.
Today and tomorrow low key. I have a ghost hunt tomorrow but it’s only from 7-11 pm, which makes this old lady happy because I hate the investigations that go through 3 am!

Sounds like a fun weekend!! Happy Mother's Day to all who celebrate and ((hugs)) to the ones for which it's a hard day for any and all the reasons.

I think we're going to chill out tonight. DH is still not feeling well. I did him a solid and massaged his neck and sinuses last night to give him some relief.

Tomorrow, we need to go to Costco at some point. Sleeping in means it will be a zoo, but getting up early means no sleeping in. Tomorrow night we're watching our friend's kiddo. Sunday, my sisters and families are coming to my house and we're smoking a pork shoulder. I'm sure mimosas are also on the menu. LOL

@VarunaTT I know you know the first year just sucks {first everything} but just be gentle on yourself.
I truly made awful jokes because it was easier than just dealing with grief.
Ex: first fathers day we were with friends day before, and everyone was saying their plans with their dads and it went silent {realizing me ...}
I had already made plans to see my mum - so I basically said "Yeh I'll see my dad. I mean his urn is at my mum's where I'll be, so it's inevitable."

I can tell you, even 9yrs later - some days just suck and some holidays hurt different years.

M was right there and ready to rescue him - he took off the lid at the top in case - but Jellybeans wiggled backwards and out lmao
