Wedding Woes

Wednesday

Lake Tahoe was awesome!  But it's also nice to be back home.

We didn't do much while we were there.  Walked around the town a few times.  Went down to the beach.  Gambled a bit.  It was more relaxing and recharging.  Had some good meals.  Our hotel room was really nice!  It had a seating area with a large window.  It had a side view of both the lake and the mountains.  But a good-sized side view.

The only planned activity we did was a boat tour on the south side of the lake.

And now it is back to work, but at least it will be a short week because I was off Mon-Tues.

@CharmedPam healing vibes!  Thumbs down to dental work
@missJeanLouise that's awesome, when your kid can swim independently the second part of your life begins.
@short+sassy how was the breakfast/brunch place?

Healing vibes to everyone who was struggling yesterday, just caught up on the posts from mon and tues.  Work and the second shift have been so darn busy lately.  Everyone is fine, just busy.
  • @missJeanLouise that sounds like an awesome day!
@short+sassy i'm glad your vacation was nice and relaxing!

It was incredible!  Their kahlua pig was flavorful and smoky.  Their Portuguese sausage was some of the best I had.  I'm not sure when our next trip will be, but we are definitely going back to this place (Kalani's).

The last time we were in Tahoe was before the pandemic.  Our other favorite food place was a super casual walk-up place with tables outside.  Despite it's generic name (Super Taco), their Mexican food is low cost, delicious, and authentic.  We were worried they had not survived the pandemic.

Good and bad news.  Their location was still there, but there was a sign on the window that they were closed until May 23rd.

We went to two more sit-down Mexican restaurant while we were there.  We got the tableside guacamole at each one and I feel like I ate my weight in it, lol.

  • Sounds like a great trip S&S!

We booked an Airbnb for Ocean City this August. So far away, but I already can't wait.

Mostly just SSDD, except for the VPR finale is on tonight and I will be watching with a glass or two of wine.
  • @CharmedPam That's me after having gastro, strep then some viral thing. I went down a bra size! Lmao

@short+sassy sounds like a good trip :) I love coming home to my bed/stuff after lol

@Casadena doesn't matter what reno, final prep stuff is always annoying. I was prepping our bathroom to paint soon and just covering some nicks. I looked closer ... I have to scrub the damn walls! Idk wtf is on our walls but it's awful.
  • My gyno finally put in the referral for my tubal! I may not hear but for a year but still.

M is also looking into being snipped. That way we're cleared for a lot of potential risk.

    Not much else.
Tomorrow I have to go to Party City for last min stuff for BK's party. 4/5 kids said yes. I'm prepping stuff in case the one kid shows up. Most things are in sets of 6 so it's fine :)
Between allergies and one kid is diabetic, I opted out of doing candy in the loot bags.

    Water bottle
    Stickers
    Glow stick necklace
    Bubbles
    Chalk
    Maybe something else?
  • I'm organizing 13 boxes of paperwork right now and I seem to have forgotten to put on deodorant this morning, so I'm trying to stay away from people until lunch time when I can go home.  Also, how did I do that?!  I usually WFH today, but I wanted to get this project hammered out, b/c the boss isn't in the office and that means I can do this grunt work w/out getting interrupted.  So I think my brain was not in "get ready for work" mode.

I was all pumped to get my hair all cut off, but I went back through my older pictures when I had the long hair and reminded myself what I wanting to do.  Growing out this undercut has been a job and I've been neglecting just taking care of my hair, so was all MAKE IT GO AWAY.  But if I'm not taking care of it, it's not going to look good short either.  So, I have an appointment on Saturday to start getting the layers back in and bangs again.

Otherwise, SSDD.  Not too much going on really.  I'm meeting some friends tomorrow night, at a lovely little place that has a wonderful atmosphere, yummy tapas, and a great mocktail menu, so that i can have something nice to drink that isn't just soda/water.

  • Bracing myself for the next 2.5 days. We have a meeting outside of clinic on Friday so it feels like a short(ish) week. I am feeling tired but overall okay. We caught up on Ted Lasso last night and then went to bed later than anticipated, but oh well. Overall not too much happening here. My mom sprinkled on some guilt tripping yesterday about driving her but I’m just choosing to try and rise above that.

    Here’s to a quick recovery! @CharmedPam

I’m glad you had a good trip! @short+sassy

Yay for a great day! @missJeanLouise

  • I don't think I slept great and just feel jittery.  I am LOVING that with aging comes a sensitivity to sleeping.  It's not my favorite.

My fingers are crossed that DH and Chiquito's camping trip goes off well.  The weather is iffy and camping in rain is less than fun.
  • Now I suspect DH had a cold last week and he shared it with me and DefConn. I took a sick day and let him stay home from school.  Of course, it's perfectly gorgeous out today. I'll probably go outside later and sit in the sun.

At least there's a new Queer Eye season to binge.  :)

    Samesies. *sigh*
In winter I realized my body temp was not okay and had to layer in order to sleep - then wake up to remove layers *eye roll*

  • Update; I’m not as super duper refreshed as I once thought I was.

  • lol @CharmedPam - hope you can power through the day and nothing is too painful from yesterday!
