Wedding Woes

Classic: Dump him.

My boyfriend babysat my 3-year-old son for a few hours while I attended a seminar upstairs.
I really appreciated it, and it seems like they had fun going out to the park. This was the first time they’d spent together without me. However, my son is now calling him “Daddy.” He’d never really called him anything before. I told my son that he should call him “Chris.” Chris waved me off and said that he actually told my son to call him that. I am furious…

I am furious. My son was conceived via a donor, and now I feel like I have to have the conversation I was planning on having when he was 5 or 6 a few years early. My boyfriend thinks I’m overreacting, as he was “doing me a favor.” I’m so disappointed. Other than this, he’s an awesome guy, and he’s been in my son’s life since he was 18 months old. I know my poor boy will be devastated if Chris stops coming around. What should I do?
  • Ok well as someone using a donor, literally all the research says tell him now. Tell him from say one. Tell him before he speaks English. So I would do that!

for the boyfriend not respecting your wishes though that’s a serious violation and if he’s not willing to take it seriously that’s a hard relationship to continue.
  • How long has LW been dating boyfriend? It seems like not even long enough to have the conversation of what she wants her son to know or not know!

  • Two big issues here:

As @STARMOON44 said the LW missed the guidance that the kid should be aware.

But the BF seriously over-stepped and you don't do anyone any favors when you take major liberties.  If the BF does not get this then he needs to become the ex BF fast.   And the fact that he used the phrase, "did you a favor" makes me lean towards a quicker exit.

It says son is 3 and Chris has been around since son was 18m

A long time but still not dad.
