Father/Daughter Dance

Hi Ladies!

So I have an amazing father. He came into my life when I was three, and he and my mom divorced when I was 12. I am now 21 and he is still my father, and he definitely didn't have to be. I want to find a song that shows how much I appreciate him. I know brad paisleys "man he didn't have to be" is an amazing song, but it's from a boys point of view.

Anyone know of any good songs other than that one I can use? I would appreciate the help :)

Thanks!

Re: Father/Daughter Dance

  • "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts
"Thank you for loving me" by Bon Jovi
"Because you loved me" by Celine Dion (kinda cheesy... but alright)

I'm either doing "Daughter" by Loudon Wainwright or "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns n' Roses.

  • Why not ask him what he would like to dance with you to? That is what I did with my Dad.

Here are some of my suggestions (yes, I love country):

I Loved Her First by Heartland
Daddy's Little Girl by Tim McGraw
  • Thanks guys! I was also thinking about that song if you wanted the sky... i know its about a teacher but i think it fits?
  • It's tough to find a song that will fit your exact life story :) Any of the ones suggested would be lovely and it's not like people are going to sit there and watch you dance and think "isn't this song written from a boy's point of view?" or "teacher?  what?"

One of my girlfriends got married a couple years ago and for her first dance with her new husband, they danced to "With arms wide open" by Creed.  That song is obviously about having a kid and has nothing to do with romantic love but the couple was high school sweethearts and apparently, that was the song they'd first danced to many years ago.

As long as a song is special to you then it's fine :) And definitely get input from your dad!

  • My father and I are going to dance to "Unforgettable" however now I'm thinking finding a song that's a little shorter. Both of us are really shy so to have people watching us might be little too much. (I'm blushing already. Lol!) A friend of mine's sister danced to "I hope you dance" by Lee Ann Womack.
