Distance between wedding hotel and wedding venue if transportation is provided

Would 65 minutes be too far to have guests travel from the wedding hotel to the wedding venue? The wedding would be 15 minute drive up a mountain by shuttle, which we would arrange.  The wedding hotel is 50 minutes away from the mountain. We plan to arrange for a bus or shuttle from the wedding to the mountain. Guests who choose to stay somewhere else could drive to the mountain themselves to the mountain and take the shuttle up the mountain.

  • Yes, that is way too far.

Way too far.  That needs to be cut at least in half and ideally down to no more than 20 min.

Is the wedding ceremony at the venue?  The goal is to keep the hotel, ceremony venue and reception venue all close together.
  • That's way too far, and I wouldn't consider anything even over 20 minutes.

Eeesh. Imagine someone gets a migraine. Or too drunk. And they have to rely on a shuttle (running only at certain times) to get back to their hotel room. And it's a 65 minute drive (at best).

This is not a guest-friendly plan. Nope.

Is there a third drive to/from the wedding ceremony?  Is the wedding “venue” the ceremony AND reception?

Regardless, a 50 minute and potentially unfamiliar drive is pushing the envelope, IMO.  Add to that the need for ALL guests to stand in line and wait for a shuttle to take them TO AND FROM the actual reception??  Older or mobility challenged guests have to climb up onto a bus?  No thank you.
