Wedding Woes

Tuesday

I don't hate Tuesdays as much as I used to, b/c it's a lead-in to my WFH day!!  I hadn't been taking those days for the last month.  I can tell when I don't.  I really enjoy the time out of the office.  It's just more peaceful AND I finally get a break from "why do they expect me to wear clothes every.day" moments.

I made myself get up and work out.  I hated it, but it's accomplished.  I also enjoyed another mocktail last night.  I subscribed to a mocktail box called "We Are Raising the Bar".  They send enough stuff to make 3 different (and so far tasty) mocktails, at least 4 of each.  It's not cheap, but it's a very nice treat.  Especially when it's so hot, having something refreshing and tasty is really nice.  I got a fancy ginger syrup, a fancy chili-infused honey, a fancy syrup that is basically a high end apple cider vinegar for that alcohol flavor kick/burn, fancy lime juice, 2 NA beers, and 2 club sodas.  The main mocktail is a shandy that used the beer, but the other 2 mocktails have been really good as well.

I am seeing a late movie tonight, it's a 9pm showing.  I really don't want to, but it's a movie made by and starring transgender folx as part of the Pride month series at the Alamo.  There were supposed to be 4 different movies specifically regarding transgender folx.  I had written an email of complaint, because at first it looked like our local theatre wasn't getting any of the movies.  They did respond back, quickly, and explained the situation.  They also asked me to join their committee choosing LGBTQ+ movies throughout the year.  I quickly noped out of that one...I've done my service in this city and I'm still not ready to serve again.  We got one of the 4 movies (By Hook or By Crook), so I feel like I HAVE to go, because I complained.  But also b/c I support art made by marginalized folx in general, and especially from my community, so I would've gone no matter what. I just really wish it was at 7 or earlier instead.

Finally, I think I told y'all I had started Athletic Greens. I really liked it, but couldn't justify $100/month.  So, I've been using ensogreens, which is $40/month.  It has the same effects as AG (I feel like I have more energy and it's more steady through the day, my skin is glowing, my digestive system is way more regular), but AG tastes a lot better.  AG has more of a light pineapple flavor, enso is very, Very, VERY minty.  It took me some time to get used to it.  I've tried it with milk instead of water and that helps balance the flavor a bit, but I didn't really like it with the milk.  But $60 difference isn't worth flavor.

Update more later but we're getting this little boy on Saturday!

Open to names because he's got nothing lol

So cute!  I needed a kitten pic this morning.  I like his little stripes of white fur above his eyes.  It's like extra long eyelashes, lol.

I'm no help with names, though.  I don't have that kind of creativity.

  • OMG he’s cute.  You’re the third person who’s given me kitten fever this week.  But I cannot! I love traveling too much, lol!
@VarunaTT I hate working out too.  Even simple ones.  Have you tried bloom? I’ve seen it in a few tik toks and always wanted to try it.  It’s $40/month on amazon too.  I may get it once my gummies are out.

it’s a wfh day today and tomorrow and I’m thankful.  We’re now getting the Canadian wildfire haze, and our air quality is at an unhealthy level and climbing.  I want to stay in.  It’s a great excuse, right?

  • I have Covid again. Which is particularly sad because I have a no refund dance comp Saturday and I wanted to do IUI this month but the clinic won’t do it until the cycle after Covid. And of course next month doesn’t work for my schedule so pushing it out again and I’m sad.

@VarunaTT I picked up a NA IPA for the pride party on Friday and it was delicious. I really wouldn't have even noticed the NA part had i not picked it out specifically. Brewery was Athletic Brewing and they only do NA - the employee at Binny's said that brewery has a great stout as well!
YES!  I was so happy to find their stout, it's a Mocha Nitro Stout  That was one of the flavors I really though I was going to have to give up, because most of the NA beers I've been seeing were pilsners (which I love) and IPAs (which I do NOT love).  I did get Athletic Brewing sampler pack.  Shockingly, I seem to like the hoppy beers in there.  Maybe it's been the alcohol heat with the heavy hops all along?  IDK, but I was very surprised.  They also have a sour, which I have in my list to try.  But I want to try Gruvi's rose first (that brand also has good beers), which gets great recommendations.  It's been nice to find things that still have the flavors I love.  It's definitely making my options easier.  For me, the last step/ struggle is that alcohol has always been about the social aspect (I never kept or drank at home alone for years) and having something "special" at home to treat myself makes it a lot easier.

@CharmedPam I haven't heard of that.  I've got my rower and my boxing machine, and I've added yoga (the company that provides my rowing machine classes has all sort of different stuffs, IFit), so I'm definitely equipped.  I also bought all new workout clothes, shoes, and socks to help.  Netflix has some yoga on it that I've been meaning to try as well.  I'm just not an exercise person.  I am a "I want to be a healthy older person" though and this is just going to have to be part of it.  I'm trying to approach it like eating, doing laundry, etc.  It doesn't matter if I "like" it, I have to do this to live and do stuff I like in civilized society.

ETA:  Sorry, Gruvi has the Mocha Nitro Stout.  I did try Athletic's stout in the sampler and it was very good as well.
  • @CharmedPam I misunderstood your post!  No, I hadn't heard of that one.  Interesting.  I will say, I do like drinking the greens though, because it gets me that first drink in the morning and I take my other meds/supplements with it, so I'm finished all at once.

Lol, no worries @VarunaTT , I know I jumped from the workout to your greens! The bloom is a powder to add to the drink. Right now I have “alive!” Gummies which have the greens in them, but my auto delivery was canceled.  I was going to wait, but I got the Bloom greens on my current subscribe and save.  They have flavors but I got the original flavor which is supposedly unflavored. I want to add them to my morning loaded teas. I’ll let you know how I like them!

edit; Happy number 2!! Your long weekend sounds devine @Casadena
boooo to covid and the setbacks @STARMOON44

    Zorro.
  • Everyone I'm loving the names!! I've written them down :)

    @CharmedPam doooo it
  • I have Covid again. Which is particularly sad because I have a no refund dance comp Saturday and I wanted to do IUI this month but the clinic won’t do it until the cycle after Covid. And of course next month doesn’t work for my schedule so pushing it out again and I’m sad.
    NOOOO :(
  • I had a cat named "Dog" while I was growing up, so I may be no help.  I do love the name "Felix" for a cat though.  Zorro is amazing.
Busy at work today, but I am and am not feeling it.  I'm being productive but I don't really want to be here.  I may just leave early today - I accidentally worked overtime yesterday because I forgot I had a late meeting but I came in early.  Oh well.

  • @STARMOON44 that totally sucks! I'm sorry! My co-worker's husband just tested positive yesterday.

I have a freaking UTI, which I have not had since I was in the hospital with a kidney infection 3 years ago. No idea how I got it - maybe from the pool? I don't even know. My doctor thankfully called in a prescription but I'm freaked out. I do have a fever and low back pain which my doctor said I need to go to the hospital if it doesn't go away. UGH.

It's another grey and gloomy day here. Blah.
  • @VarunaTT, I am so with you on exercise.  I don't necessarily hate it, but there are always 1,000 things I'd rather be doing.  But I agree I need to give it "must do" chore status because it has so many health benefits and I'm not getting any younger.  The more mobility and more physically fit I am going into my elderly years, the better I can hang on to that for as long as possible.

I read a fun Q and A with a woman who had turned 100.  They asked her something like what age she felt like.  She said she still feels and thinks of herself like she did when she was 25...until she wakes up in the morning and stands up, lol.

@MissKittyDanger, I am seconding the name Zorro.

@STARMOON44, I'm so sorry to hear you have COVID!  Especially with what extra bad timing it is.  I hope you at least start feeling better.

  • @climbingsingle good news is UTI at least easy fix but boo! I got one like 11 years ago? Funnily enough, my mum got one at the same time {not from same place we're aware of} but we both whined to each other

@ei34 we have Penny and Jellybeans - Oreo could work. He looks a little more brown than black in photos, so I may have to see in person.

@VarunaTT M likes Zorro so far
  • @ei34, Our Maple Bar cat is a Cajun girl that we got at a shelter out in the country, about two hours away.

We really wanted to give her a Cajun food name, but just didn't hit on anything we liked.  Beignet was the "best" choice we came up with in that category, but we still didn't care for it.

The shelter had a tree theme for naming her and her siblings.  She was Maple.  Maple bars are my H's and I favorite doughnut and one of her major colors is a similar shade for that light brown frosting those doughnuts have.

So, in our usual uncreative pet-name way, we just added a "Bar" to the end for her official name.  But usually shorten it to "Maples".  I don't know why we add an "s" at the end.  That just happened naturally.

Congrats to your parents on their 40th!  That sounds like a fun weekend, despite the rain.

  • Ugh so sorry @STARMOON44. Happy 2nd to your little guy @Casadena. Hope you feel better soon @climbingsingle. I'm not good with cat names but he is a cutie @MissKittyDanger.

I got back from my girls' trip on Monday. We had a blast. Yesterday I just laid around the house because I was up super early to see one of my friends off at 4:30. The other two left around 9:00. We did a lot of shopping, eating and drinking on the trip. The weather was pretty good - a little rain but it didn't bother our plans. I'm glad we aren't there now - the air quality here and the upper midwest is terrible. I've never seen it like this.
