Happy Friday ya’ll and I’m off all of next week.  Yay. So my company gave me 5 bereavement days but I told my boss I’d work the last 2 if nothing was going on.  I called my brother yesterday, and he told me his company only alotted 2.  His boss was being very generous to him, under these circumstances, but he’s dumbfounded on how I was given more than him. ‘murica (he works for the state whilst mine is a private company).
Check your credit card charges.  I was paying bills and casually going through mine and saw that home chef charged me for a large delivery I cancelled way in advance (knowing I would be gone for 2 weeks).  They couldnt see that order on my account so they’re looking into it. I only have a cc screenshot for proof of being charged.  I first go through the company on any faulty charges before a dispute with the cc because that usually means shutting down my card and HC was the only one not made by me. Home Chef typically has good customer service. I hope they resolve it because I actually like Home Chef and this picky person LOVES their chicken and I usually order extra for non HC meals.

Re: Friyay!

  • That’s awful for your brother @charmedpam. I’m angry for you all!
  • That's so crazy your brother only got 2 days.

I also love Home Chef and agree that typically their customer service is great. I've never been charged by accident like that though.

So ready for the weekend. Going to see the Barbie movie tomorrow with my friend. And it looks like it's actually going to be nice this weekend!
  • Finally a bit cooler here! We had big storms last night and we’re back to the low 70s. I’m waiting to get blood work done and have a meeting at 1 so really hoping they move things along here.

We’re heading to H’s camp tomorrow. I’m not super happy about going but his siblings, their family’s and his cousins and all their families will all be there. We’re driving down and back the same day so tomorrow is just going to be long. Hopefully fun. M is excited for the river and we’ll take him out in a “canoe like Moana has”.
  • @CharmedPam, almost every place I've worked it's been 3 bereavement days.  I feel like 5 is more fair, because that is at least a full week for people who work the typical 5 days/week.  It's still certainly not enough time, especially for someone who lost their spouse or child, but I also understand from a business perspective that it can't be unlimited.

Everywhere I work has also always been understanding when people took more time off, but they do have to use AWOP or vacation time for anything more than 3 days.

I hope your brother, you, and your family are doing okay.  At least as much as possible.

I know I've mentioned before that I don't have much appetite suppression with Mounjaro, even though most people do.  But every once in awhile, bam!  It is really hitting me this morning.  I only had about 4 oz. of lox (no bagel or cream cheese)...and I love lox...but I had to force myself to eat it.  But that's still not enough calories so I had a spoonful of PB also.  Still only about 220 calories total for the entire morning, which I know is terrible but the best I could do, and now it's almost lunch time.  And I'll probably be absolutely starving a few hours from now when the appetite suppression wears off, lol.

I am going to do major uncluttering this weekend.  I have been too lazy, for too long with it.

  • Yeah when I aksed about what mine would be, I only wanted three because I thought I was going to drive home on Wednesday.
i’ve been off mounjaro for a week and half now.  My appetite really hasn’t changed much.  MAYBE I eat a tad bit more? My glucose is soaring though. I could have gotten 12.5 last week but the pharmacies said 15 would be in on the 20th so I chances it.  Guess what? It wasn’t.  I shot myself in the foot though, by waiting, because now 12.5 and 15 are out of stock.  It’s 10 or nothing.  I have to wait till 12:00 to see if, by chance, an order came in… otherwise I need a call into my doc to OK the 10.  Grrrrrr

  • I just checked my company policy and it's 3 days.   What I will say is that some of the stuff I see in writing vs. the practice is different.

Such as: I told them when stuff was hitting the fan with Chiquita and my boss wasn't going to make me work.  Eventually I'd need to have taken that time as PTO/FMLA so I didn't - and years ago when DH's cousin's lost their child in childbirth they didn't force that as a PTO day when the child didn't count for bereavement leave.

The weather looks rough tonight so I think we're going to take a look at watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II since Chiquito and I finished the book.

Tomorrow we hope to get the boat in the river and Sunday I'm subbing for our cantor who is on vacation so I need to practice.

Every month we go through our credit cards item by item.  This past month, we found an Apple.com charge for “merchandise”.  It was posted on July 4 at 7 AM.  The phone number attached to it came up on a google search as a frequent fraudulent number.  Our CC company was familiar with this particular scam as it has become so frequent.

They start with small charges (this was a flat $89) assuming it won’t stand out on statements.  If it goes unnoticed/unreported, they eventually go bigger on your card.  With the amount of fraud/identity theft/hacking, I can’t believe anyone would pay any bill without checking the items first.
  • I just checked our leave policy- ours is 5 days and covers the death of family member a family member of spouse/ partner, or miscarriage/ stillbirth (which it also notes you can receive other state leave.
  • That’s infuriating @CharmedPam. I was shocked when SIL A got 2 weeks of bereavement per instance for her job. I’ve never seen such bereavement. I think I get 3 days.

I feel like I’m in hell. I spent all day yesterday at my parents house cleaning out my brother’s old room. Just an absolute shit show of drugs, alcohol, clothing and trash. Then he came home when I was bringing his things outside and we got into an argument and I almost had to call the police. My dad was in a piss poor mood because my mom wasn’t home and spent the day pouting and being an ass. I drove home crying which is very out of character for me. Then this morning my aunt called saying my grandma fell and hit her head and was on the way to the hospital. So now I’m at the hospital with her. I’m just feeling so overstretched and I’m angry at life right now. Sorry to be a Debbie downer.

  • Oh no @levioosa, you’re going through A LOT.  You don’t need your brothers tactics to add to it.

  • @levioosa, I read your post a few days late, but I hope your weekend was better and that your grandma is doing well.

@CharmedPam, Try calling around to other pharmacies.  Back a few months ago it was the lower dose that were hard to come by.  Now it's the higher doses.  Ugh!  I know they are also expecting Mounjaro to be approved by the FDA for weight loss later this year.  Supposedly Eli Lilly has been taking pains to ramp up production.  After all, they're making $1,000+ profit on each box sold at full retail, so they are certainly incentivized.  But it still takes time to do that.

Huh.  I should get over my loathing of them and buy Eli Lilly stock before that happens, lol.  Their stock price is up 40% from last year around this time.  They're up around 350% from 5 years ago.  Those are just my musings.  I don't know much about analyzing stocks, so don't listen to me like that is sage advice, lol.
