Wedding Woes

Monday

I didn't do much this weekend. I didn't have a great day on Saturday and had to deal with all of that "not great day" leftover stuff on Sunday.  It's okay and I'll be okay, but ugh.

My new office:

I'd share a picture of the view, but I remain suspicious of Knut trolls.  Suffice to say, it's awesome AND I can see my apartment from my window.  It's pretty much the same size I have now, so that's not a huge change.  I face east, so nice morning sun, without too much heat.  The window there has the shades down at that point.  The office spaces itself is beautiful and I think will be really wonderful for us.  We're nearly doubling our space. One of the two people I find difficult to interact with will be on our 2nd floor.  Though my work bestie will also be on the 2nd floor now, which is sad.

Bossman is out of town for a week, so I forsee being busy and alone, which will be nice.  How was everyone else's weekend?  I fear the heat is starting to take us down, the board has been quite slow.

Re: Monday

  • I'm incredibly jealous of your view Varuna! I'm in cubicle land and hate it very much.

I was out for most of the last couple weeks, G ended up getting admitted to the hospital last Saturday after an ER visit and followup in the few days before that. We definitely saw it coming and i'm a little annoyed at his medical team that we didn't get the inpatient stuff started earlier in that week. We came home Thursday and are holding his chemo meds until another followup this Wednesday. He has great energy and seems to be feeling great with no chemo and antibiotics kicking in but he's still immune compromised enough that we're not sending him to school this week. My mom is staying with us and babysitting. N is old enough now to feel jealous of G's attention from Gma but still too little to understand WHY he's home. It's super hard and i hate that N seems to get the shaft all the time in terms of attention. Hospital visits are terrible and he felt absolutely awful for most of his stay.

I'm back at work today and just very not feeling it. Trying to be realistic with my boss about what i can feasibly get done in the few days i'm here this week.

About a month ago i had scheduled a hair appointment (first since October!) for this Friday. I took a vacation day and now feel super guilty keeping it since I was out of work so much recently on FMLA. I'm really torn.
  • That’s quite the setup! Spacious @VarunaTT!
Back to work for me.  I came home to an overgrown lawn so yippee for me. I mean, tomorrow at 10:00 I’ll be a billionaire.  Should I just wait till then to hire someone? Yes? Yes.  You guys make good decisions for me.

  • Big hugs to you and G, and even poor N, @casadena.  This can’t be easy.  I think you should keep that appt, because self care is just as important and nothing feels as good as fresh hairs.
Our company worked with a charity last year for sick kids - as well as the siblings of the sick kids. Every November the entire family, all kids in it will get these craft boxes.  Most people don’t consider that if little “so and so” is so sick and can’t leave the house, often times familes don’t leave, including their siblings. So they include the entire family :)

  • That’s so much @Casadena. I’m glad you’re all home and things are looking better but that’s a lot. I’d keep the hair appointment you need a break.
  • Weekend was good! M had swim on Saturday and my mom met us there and took him back to her house for the night. H and I had a date night and I still got to go to bed early and sleep in. Yesterday I did brunch with my closest friends before H picked up M. A nice relaxing weekend all around!

Ugh that's so much @Casadena, I'm glad G is home and totally get N feeling the way he does...keep that hair appt you deserve it!
@CharmedPam trying to remember I think you're the one who likes mowing the lawn? I mean I know you'll be a billlionaire soon but I vote to keep doing some of the things you enjoy  ;)
Yay for the new office @VarunaTT

Our heat finally broke over the weekend, thankfully.  The kids all have coxsackie which is a big thumbs down.  Would love to avoid getting it so fingers crossed.
  • I've been catching up on posts, and just want to throw out that mowing the lawn is my absolute favorite house chore.
  • Oh @Casadena I am sorry it's so hard for you guys.

@ei34 we were hearing that a few family members didn't make it to the recent wedding due to HFM.

Saturday was SO HOT and the wedding went well.  Chiquito got better and we left both kids with a sitter.  Sunday we had BIL and SIL over for dinner and it was SO GOOD.  DH is with them today and I'm hoping for a nice night at the pool/marina.
  • Thanks for the kind words and support everyone, i am going to keep my hair appointment. I'm going to try and stack an eye appointment and have a list of house chores to complete as well so i don't feel so guilty.

@ei34 I hope your kiddos feel better soon and @banana468 i'm glad Chiquito recovered quickly!

@CharmedPam okay I definitely knew it was one of the C's (climbing, casadena...lol).  In your case definitely hire someone when you can :)

Oh yeah HFM is spreading like wild fire right now, half the kids I know have it, so I wasn't surprised.  Just annoying!
  • @MNNEBride, I'm so sorry to hear the news about your H!  I remember that was one of the suspected medical conditions, but it doesn't make the news any easier.  I'd been hoping for you all it turned out to be something less serious ((hugs)).

I don't know much about treatment.  Now that it has been confirmed, is there anything that can be done to help slow progression?

  • @MNNEBride so sorry you got that diagnosis :( I too, have never heard of it, so did a quick search.  So sad for you all

  • @MNNEBride I’m so sorry. That is devastating news. All of the hugs.

@casadena hugs to you too. I agree with everyone else. Self care is important and is most definitely not a “waste” of a day in any way. And you don’t need to “be productive” on those days either. It’s okay to take a day here and there to just be a person and recover. If you could maybe meet a friend for lunch. Or go get coffee and just zone out for an hour or two. You don’t have to feel guilty about that.

Ugh @ei34 HFM is the worstttt.

We had a busy weekend. My parents came over on Saturday and my dad watched and coached H on a repair. Then we went to dinner for my dads bday. Sunday we met up with the grandparents and aunts and uncles for another bday dinner for my dad. It went pretty well and my aunt was even tolerable. Grandma seems okay too.

Otherwise I’m just trying to recoup and get some home things finished. It’s been over 100 here for the last week and it’s finally dipped to the mid 90s, thank goodness. It is pretty humid today. I know it’s not a thing, but it feels like “earthquake weather” today.

  • @MNNEBride I'm so sorry about the diagnosis. Prayers for you and your H.

@Casadena definitely do the hair appointment. Glad things are looking a little better. Hope they continue to improve.

@ei34 HFM is awful. GS3 had it in March and it was the worse case we had ever seen. Hope you can avoid it.

H is in VA again. His dad's condo is closing mid-August so they are getting rid of the stuff no one wants. That means I'm here all week alone. That is ok I just worry about him driving so far by himself - he isn't getting any younger. This has been a heavy driving summer.
