Wedding Woes

Thursday

I can post Prudie today if no one else is planning to?

Re: Thursday

  • G had a good follow up yesterday! Blood counts good enough to come off the antibiotic and start his home chemo again (at much lower doses). We do have to come back next week for another followup just to make sure everything is staying at sustainable levels and probably up his dosage to prior levels.

I'm alone in my section at work today and I love it.
  • Yes please post Prudie! I've been missing it.

SSDD. So ready for the weekend.
  • That’s great news @Casadena!
I went to get my annual eyebrow microblade last night.
When the lady ran my card, I noticed $70 more than I was told.  Apparently the last customer’s charges were inadvertently tacked on my card.  She even showed me the line items.  $60 and then a separate $10 for the tip.  I heard everything in the room next to me with that customer and she was getting a brazillian wax.  Do people not know simple math, or are some so cheap and undercut these employees? Or maybe she’s part owner, I really don’t know….But I’d always throw in a bit more above 20% when I got brazillian’s done.  If you have the misfortune to work on my cooter, you get some bonus money. Shame on some people! Also, $60 for a brazillian is a darn good price to begin with! I was there just under 1 hr and she came in 10 minutes after me and left 5 before.

  • @CharmedPam, I can do you one better on cheap people.  I was at the Harrahs casino in Biloxi, waiting for my car in the valet area.  A FINE looking Mercedes Benz came rolling up and a valet driver popped out to return it to its owner.  Brand new car, still had the dealer tags.  And not even one of their lower priced models, probably an $80K+ car.  The driver tipped the guy NOTHING.  Not even one dollar.  Maybe she tipped when she arrived.  But I doubt it.  Most people tip when they receive their car back or tip both attendants.

@Casadena, that looks like EXTRA Prudie!  Thanks for posting.  My day just got more interesting, lol.

I had a good day for a couple reasons yesterday.  I was super tired in the morning but for reasons I can't explain, I felt extra energetic in the afternoon.  I even got up a few times to take a couple laps around the hall.  I almost never feel energetic and wish I knew what that magic was, lol.

When I got off work, I hadn't been to the local Harrahs in a few months, but had $35 in slot play to burn up.  Plus an offer to get $40 in rewards, which translates to $20 in free food that I can use whenever.  I had some nice turns on video poker and turned my slot play into $200 real cash!

  • But did that valet person work on her hoo-ha? Lol @short+sassy.  That and pedicures get extra from me. That sounds like a great day! I never have any luck at casino’s.  Just once 2 years ago, but it’s not consistent.

Lots of Prudie today.  Maybe it’s last weeks and this? Did we skip last week?

  • i'm about 10 seconds from screaming and smashing shit.

Our freezer died. So we're kind of racing against time to not lose everything and also order a new fridge/freezer.

    Earliest is the 8th *sigh*

I'm just ... we're just recouping and now this
  • I'm doing okay today.  A bit mopey, but trying to stay focused at work.  I'm going to lunch with work bestie and trying to decide what I want to eat.

Going over to Mom's tonight to get her new cell phone set up.  We've had a lot of rough storms here and she suffered some tree and fence damage.  She has friends coming in to help fix the fence.  I had to laugh because she called and wanted to buy the friends some beer for when it was hot.  She has no idea how/where to buy beer.  I just laughed and told her I'd grab it for her on my way over to set up her cell phone.

Otherwise, SSDD.  We have an Alamo Drafthouse where I live adn they are knocking it out of the park this month with indie, anime, and older movies.  I've bought 9 tickets for the month and that doesn't include the mass releases I still want to see like Barbie, Oppenheimer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and a handful more.  It's nice to see the movie theatres busy again, even with the strike.

If your freezer is full, it will keep everything frozen for at least 1 day, usually 2.  You can tell by the ice.  Once the ice melts, the food is no longer safe.

There are also large coolers that exist, that will keep food frozen for up to 7 days.  And, of course, it can also last that long indefinitely if you keep adding ice every few days.

You also might be able to find a used refrigerator immediately on FB Marketplace or something like that.  You're a little bit taking your chances because there won't be a warranty but, as long as it is working fine when you see it, it will likely last a good while.  There are also used appliance stores that will also have appliances available right away.  They usually have limited warranties.

Sorry to hear that happened!  It totally sucks!

My broken fridge story.  This was a few years ago, thankfully before the pandemic.  We get a call around 2PM from one of our tenants that their fridge is no longer cooling.  Y'all, this was the DAY BEFORE Thanksgiving and they had relatives in town they were going to be hosting the meal for.  Aaaahhh!

We told them to leave the doors closed, as that would keep things cold for about a day.  My H immediately went over there to see if it was something he could fix.  Nope.  It was a goner.  Lowes and Home Depot had fridges in, but they couldn't deliver the same day (not surprising).  My H calls up his buddy with a truck.  They go to Lowes.  Get a fridge and deliver it to our tenants.  Less than 3 hours had transpired.  Phew!  Crisis averted!

  • To piggyback off of @short+sassy, if you have one of the Habitat for Humanity stores, they'll usualy have some solid used refrigerators for sale.

    True!  I forgot about them.

Some thrift stores also carry large appliances, though not most of them.  If you go that route, I'd suggest calling ahead.

Yay for the double good news @Casadena
@MissKittyDanger ughh a broken freezer or fridge stinks...hope you can find a plan B before food is lost!

Seeing Pink and Brandi Carlile tonight.  Trying to rally myself bc I've come to dislike anything that has me out of the house past 8pm. I am excited though, especially for Pink who I haven't seen in concert since before the pandemic.

ETA - and thank you for the Prudie party @casadena!  I've missed it lately and this is fun...might take my time and just open a few a day lol
jealous!!  Have an amazing time, P!nk is someone I super want to see in concert.  But I also suffer from the post 8 pm is my bedtime curse.  :D

  • OMG so jealous you're seeing Pink and Brandi Carlisle (I absolutely love her!). I saw Pink a few years ago and her concert was amazing.
  • Hi all - checking in after a million years because, well, life.

    I hope everyone is well!
    Hiya pretty lady!  How're things?

Glad you stopped by!  What's going on with you all?  Weren't you all getting ready to go back to Cleveland because your H got a new job?

And how is your all's adorable baby?  Who I am assuming is a toddler by now!

  • Thanks for the Prudie! I've missed them the last couple of weeks.

H is coming home tomorrow. They got the condo all finished and now the buyer wants to close a week earlier. yay!

I've realized this week I need to make some new friends. I've been without human contact most of the week. People I know are still working or retired and traveling! It has been just me and the dog. He doesn't talk much and is very needy LOL!
  • Wow! @NBSquared2017 three already! That’s wild! Glad to hear you are doing well!

We've had issues with closing. We checked that portion and cleared it.

All popsicles were liquid. Nothing was freezing :(

I can’t complain! Life is flying by. Our daughter just turned 3 and thriving. We’re back in Ohio and excited to be close to both families!! I’m going to be cognizant about coming here often because life hours so fast. This year will be done before you know it!
