I forgot to give notice of WFH today, so I'm in the office.  Which was probably good, b/c my boss wanted a meeting of all our case load, so I was here for that.

@STARMOON44 I ended up canceling the movie.  I didn't have the bandwidth to deal with anything, I just went home and went to bed.

I'm slowing starting to lift my spirits up.  I haven't cried today and I've smiled.  IDK why this new diagnosis has hit into me so hard, but it has.  Then, I got notice that my new David Bowie 50th Anniversary edition of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars LP set is on it's way to me!!!

I've also applied for a cat.  I really want a dog, but I just can't justify a dog with my lifestyle.  I really want a pet, so a cat it is.  We'll see if I get her; I'm using a local adoption agency and they do a meet and greet.  I was clear that I wanted a cat that would cuddle, so if that's not her (Matilda is her name now) personality, it won't work.

Re: Wiley Wednesday

  • That’s awesome @VarunaTT, cats (and dogs) really can lift those spirits.  @short+sassy everytime I see Patrick and Thais’ dog (really John gets the screentime) I always say “I WANT THAT ONE!” (is it a pomeranian?)… but I can’t.  I just can’t.

I went to an ortho specialist about my shoulder yesterday.  I have bicep tendinitis.  So physical therapy and an anti-flamatory for starters, and in 6 weeks if nothing comes out of that, maybe a cortisone injection.  And then minor surgery as a last resort.  I can’t even get a PT evaluation until Tuesday though, and sessions would start next Friday.
This wasn’t even caused by an injury.  Just the aging process.  Yay aging.

  • @VarunaTT knowing and being told are different. When I was officially diagnosed with anxiety, depression and CPTSD - I cried. Then I cried on my way to pick up meds.
    It's a lot.

@VarunaTT, good luck with the cat!  Hopefully she is a good snuggler.  I'm a firm believer that pets can help with relaxation and add happiness to the day.

@CharmedPam, yes, Patrick and Thais's dog is a Pomeranian.  They're cute, extra floofy little guys.  Their baby was recently on Pillow Talk.  She made a quick appearance on one of their recent Pillow Talk episodes.  I don't think Patrick would have gotten that sweet PT gig, if it wasn't for his brother.  John was such a fan favorite for that season.

Sorry to hear about your bicep tendinitis.  I hope the physical therapy helps and you don't have to resort to surgery.

It is SO HOT here.  We don't even have cold water coming out our faucets anymore.  I need to change the names on my faucet handles from cold/hot to hot/hotter, lol.

Phew!  I found some better prices for property insurance on two of my rentals.  I'm in the process of putting those in place and canceling the previous policies.  It's still much higher than last year, but about $2K cheaper (total) than what the renewals would be.

It's interesting how my new agent did it.  He separated out the typical fire/liability and got a policy for just that with an independent company.  And then my wind/named storm coverage (only) is still through Louisiana Citizen's quasi-government policy.

Edited to add:  @levioosa, good luck to your H!  I hope he finds a better job that eases his stress levels.

Enjoy your time a bit further south!  It should at least be cooler next to the ocean.

If you're in my southern OC neck of the woods, Dana Point Harbor has a lot of nice restaurants/stores.  It's also a great place to walk around.  The San Clemente pier is beautiful and has a restaurant at the foot of it called The Fisherman's Restaurant.  Indoor or outdoor dining with a view of the ocean.  It's been there since I was a kid.  So many memories!

If you're more in the SD area, true, so many choices there also!  I've always loved the drive across the bridge to Coronado Island.  Balboa Park has tons of small museums and beautiful grounds.  Also a good place for a picnic.

  • ((hugs @varunatt)) Good luck with the cat adoption.

Not much going on here.  Just mid-year review/check-in week.  SSDD otherwise.
  • Weekend was good.
Our fridge ended up dying too - so luckily the new one was already coming.
The guys who took it away said likely dust build up caused over heating of fan clog.
So I'm adding that to my 2x year full fridge clean.

We got the side by side fridge with water thing but we likely won't use. At least yet.
I'm not paying a plumber to come set it up yet lol

    Anyways weekend was good.
Saturday I did breakfast with friends. It was good.
We're hoping to do once a month kinda thing - maybe once every 2 months because life is busy.
I had plans after so I wasn't able to go see Barbie afterwards - but M said he'll take me :)

Sunday M, BK, my mum and I went to the water park.

May not have been a core memory for her, but I definitely think it was for us 🥹 | Instagram

I scratched my elbow in the pool area with BK, so that's been rough.

Monday was a whole lotta nothing and it was glorious. I did get some cleaning done at least.
  • @MissKittyDanger, I think it's fairly easy to hook up water lines to the fridge.  You all can probably DIY it with a You Tube video, instead of hiring a plumber.

Fingers crossed on the cat adoption @VarunaTT
Ughh that weather sounds miserable @short+sassy I'm sorry
Glad you'll at least get out a bit earlier @levioosa and all the choices for Friday sound great
@CharmedPam I hope the PT helps somewhat!

Had a fun girls' night last night with some local mom friends...spent more than I meant to but it was fun.  Finishing up packing and cleaning for our New Hampshire trip, very much looking forward to being in the mountains away from everything, it's a needed change of pace.

Is it? Honestly i've never done it and our house is older so we're nervous about fucking it up :\

My house is 100+ years old, lol!  Seriously though, I don't know how old the plumbing is.  At least 20 years old, though I assume it is substantially older than that.  Some of our exterior plumbing was galvanized pipes, which hasn't really been used in 60 years.

My H hooked our fridge water line up years ago and that was before we owned rentals.  His handyman skills were much more basic back then.  He's has since done it a few times for our rentals.  I think it takes less than 20 minutes, so it's not onerous.

I'd suggest at least watching some videos/reading instructions.  No harm in doing that and, if you all still feel unsure about it, have a plumber do it at a later time.

  • Sweet!  I just placed my first Amazon pharmacy order.

Huge savings.  It's a new prescription to supplement the thyroid medication I already take.  At Walmart, it is $39/month.  At Amazon, it is $23 for 90 days!  Over 5x less.

I also have an Amazon store card that gives me 5% back on purchases.  The discount works at the pharmacy also.  Cha-ching!
