Monday

How was everyone's weekend? The weather was gorgeous so we were out and about a lot of the weekend, also the kids were fighting non-stop so we separated them and took them on individual "dates" for a lot of Saturday as well. I have a call with a recruiter today about a possible new job - interested to hear what it's all about!

Re: Monday

  • Had an amazing weekend! I was at running camp from Thursday through yesterday and it was amazing!! A very clear reminder that I need to take time and space for myself more than I do!
  • Good vibes for the recruiter meeting! @Casadena

I’m glad you had a great weekend! @charlotte989875

Our weekend was okay. I was definitely drained. Last week at work was just horrible. My schedule was a mess and people were just on a good one. Friday I was so busy I didn’t get to eat or drink for the whole 13 hours I was at work. Which did not set me up well for my hike Saturday morning. I punked out 3 miles up the mountain which is very unusual for me and we had to turn back. I was beyond depleted. My parents came over which was not optimal timing, but at least now we have a new working bathroom sink and the visit wasn’t terrible, just long. Saturday night and yesterday H and I hung out together and tried to relax. There’s a lot of us to do as we approach our trip and as we figure out H’s work situation. I’m just trying to get to our trip. Four more shifts and then I’m free for 12 days.

  • GL on that job call @Casadena.  I hope it’s what you’re looking for!
fx for a good day for Chicquita @banana468.  booo to all that cost though!

It was a really nice day on Saturday. The meetup organizer wanted us at a park for a pow wow event at 11.  First pow wow was at 1 (going all the way through 9 pm).
The group breezed through the craft fair and at 11:40 (which was mostly standing around talking) there was about 7 people that wanted to get a bite to eat.  I wasn’t hungry AND they had an authentic food stand there!  3 of us were like.. um… aren’t we here to experience new culture?
So 7 of them went to a nearby restaurant.  At 12:45 we lined up for some authentic fry bread and at 1:00 we saw that the 7 people had come back.  They found us, but we were eating.  I saw them leave at 1:20 right after opening ceremonies.
Like… huh? There were more pow wows after that and it was so nice to see the dancers invite EVERYONE to dance in the circle.  A lot of peope joined in and it was heartwarming to see everyone just dancing and getting along.  I loved it.
So 7 of them drove over 1 hour to go eat at a restaurant and watch 15 minutes of a pow wow?  I stayed with the other 2 people until 2:30. It would have been later, but the chairs were so uncomfortable and hurting my back. I have a lawn chair I keep in my car I should have just brought out.  But I was kinda done anyway.

Vibes @banana468 and your way too @levioosa
I've been having some trouble sleeping lately, just a lot of tossing and turning so I'm dragging a bit during the day as a result.
  • OMG, y'all I am living with Crash Bandicoot.  DefConn cannot catch a break this month.

Last night after dinner, DH, BIL, FIL, the kiddo, kiddo's GF, and I were all sitting on the deck watching DefConn jump the dirt ramp he made in our backyard.  He jumps several times and then DH gets all weirdly nervous and tells him to go put on a helmet.  DH's uncle calls to talk about Labor Day stuff.  DefConn comes back out with a helmet on, jumps the ramp, rides up to the deck to talk to us, goes to turn his wheel to ride again and the wheel gets stuck on the grass.  He crashes down on his bike and in a freak accident, the handlebar goes up his left arm and causes a huge gash in his upper left arm, narrowly missing his armpit.

I could tell as soon as he rolled over on the ground that something was wrong and then he ran up on the deck to go in the house.  I stopped him and pulled up his shirt.  There was blood all over his armpit and then I saw the gash.  I was like, "We gotta go!" and everyone jumped into action. BIL grabbed a towel for DefConn to shove under his arm. FIL hopped into the car and drove us to the ER.

He got 7 stitches and is pretty sore. We're going to be helping him with showers and getting dressed the next few days.  But he's friggin' champ.  He was cracking jokes in the ER and then thanked everyone (ER staff, FIL, BIL, etc.). Geeze louise, where is the bubble wrap?

We slept in a little this morning, but he went to school.  The rest of the weekend was good.  Got a lot done and had some decent downtime as well.

Of course, I slept like absolute garbage last night.  DefConn was up one time because the bandage on his arm was slipping, but he said he slept alright otherwise.  I'm probably leaving early today to get a nap and try and get shit I didn't get done last night since we were cooling our heels in the ER for a few hours.
  • OMG @mrsconn23 how awful no wonder you didn't sleep!

I have a follow up mammogram/US today.  For the tiniest boobs they're certainly requiring lots of scanning.  Vibes that there are no issues are appreciated!
I have a follow-up mammo tomorrow.  ((hugs)) and vibes. It's not a fun call to get at all.  Ugh.
  • Oh wow @mrsconn23, where is your bubble wrap is right!!! Hope he’s doing better
@levioosa, hopefully you can get some much needed R&R on vacation.  Count down is on!

  • Ugh @mrsconn23. Poor defconn. I hope recovery is quick.

@banana468 good vibes for the mammo and for Chiquita.

  • FX @banana468 that things go well with Chiquita and your mammogram. Geez @mrsconn23! Hope DefConn is feeling better soon. @levioosa yay trip!

I went to a new nail place today to get a pedicure. It is probably the best I've ever had. I'm going to a sorority reunion next week so needed pretty toes for the beach. Just normal stuff around here today.
  • Whew, I think we all need to be bubble wrapped!

Nothing much to report.  I have named the kitty Harley, after Harley Quinn b/c she's got the 2 colors, she's pretty, smart, and a little chaotic.  She was killing me last night.  I just kept thinking, I played with you for 3 hours all day, didn't let you nap, and you're STILL up and bothering me while I'm trying to sleep.  Then I told her she was making me regret getting a cat and she came over, laid down next to me and slept.  So, I felt guilty and petted her a lot, thus keeping myself awake.

Had to go into the doctor today because I was afraid I was getting another ear infection.  I'm not, but my gums on that side of my face are inflamed.  Which is a normal part of my period cycle.  She said it was probably all of the allergy things plus the period making me uncomfortable, but to go see the dentist and let her know.  Yet another exhausting thing to do.
