Wedding Woes

Tuesday

Re: Tuesday

  • Hey! Welcome back @short+sassy

Pretty good here so far. M kept asking to go to swim lessons instead of school this morning and only got over it when we saw a cement truck.

Fingers crossed our contractor is finishing tomorrow. I’m trying not to get too excited but really really hoping it’s for real. M is going to my mom’s Sunday to Monday so we can go furniture shopping!
  • Hi all! Back from vacation sadly. We had such a great time in Ocean City. Did all the typical stuff - beach days, water park, mini golf, go-carts. Went out to some really great dinners. My legs and feet are actually sore from all the walking we did.

When I left the boards were still broken, so happy to see them working again!
  • @charlotte989875, good luck with the contractor finishing!  I'm sure it will be such a relief to finally have all the work done.  Especially after everything you all went through with the first one.

@Casadena, congrats on the new nephew!  Such exciting news.

  • @short+sassy she did really well!

Before her diagnosis I picked a resort at Universal that came with the Unlimited Express Pass.   It was an extra cost but came with peace of mind after the kids just elbowed each other through the long waits at Disney in 2021.    Then, once she was diagnosed I applied and received the disability pass for both locations.
At Universal, we basically skipped all outdoor lines and got to the front.  We had no wait more than 15 minutes and moved.   The DAS (Disney) is virtual so any queue over 25 min I could tap into and we could wait in air conditioning somewhere else.    At Universal we only had 1 ride that affected us which was for Hagrid's motor bike.  We got to the line and they gave us a return time 2 hours later.

Also, Diagon Alley and Knockturn Alley especially are cooler areas in the parks.  It made for her not over-heating.

She did learn that she has to be careful with meal choices, had some times that she was uncomfortable and had to make a quick trip to a bathroom but she was not knocked down for a long time.  She was up and powered through the entire day!

Welcome back @short+sassy and so exited for your Alaskan cruise. That’s a trip I’d love to take someday and fingers crossed for the balcony upgrade.
    @CharmedPam happy belated bday!
@Casadena hope you have some success with the recruiter down the line

Yay for all the good mammos!

I’m officially back at work, and it feels good. Ask me again in a week how I’m feeling lol.

That's great to hear!  I'm glad it didn't have too much negative effect for her and you all on the vacation.

Hopefully that also gives her some confidence and reassurance that she can do anything she wants and this disease won't keep her down.

  • The new co-worker is going to be interesting.  I work in a woman-dominated field and fully admit to being suspicious of men in my field.  It is always they're either excellent to work with or an absolute sh!t show.  This one is already leaning to sh!tshow.  He brought in his own special name plate and seems to have world series rings displayed on his desk?!?! as well as some other observations. I'm trying not to pre-judge and struggling.

Harley slept through the night!! Or at least she let me sleep through the night, IDK which one it was.

Otherwise, SSDD.  I've got to figure out a hobby or something.  Turning into a crazy cat lady is an option, but it's not one I really want to exercise.  Also, I bought more toys so there we go.

  • @VarunaTT, I hope the first impression of your coworker is wrong and turns out to be pleasant to work with.

Cats don't usually sleep through the night, like people and dogs do.  I think Harley is learning that's when YOU sleep.  So that is quiet time and when she needs to let you rest.

For both the cats I've had, their favorite toys have been laser pointers and the sticks with a string that have a mouse or feathers at the end.  They also like tiny stuffed animals they can bat around and things that roll.  Though with laser pointers, it's important they get a treat or toy during or at the end of play so they feel like they "caught" something.

  • That's great news about the vacation @banana. Hope your first week (and the whole year) goes well @ei34. Welcome back @short+sassy

I have book club this afternoon. The hostess has a pool so it is a daytime event. It is a little cool but very sunny so I think it will be a lovely afternoon. I made a roasted caprese salad. For those interested the book was Remarkably Bright Creatures. Highly recommend!

  • @VarunaTT I hope first impressions are incorrect here.

I think you’ve had cats before? But absolutely do not bend to their will and get up and feed them in the middle of the night. Do it once and you’ll never sleep through a whole night again. I trained Aurora that when I sleep I’m not getting up for her. H did the opposite with Jack and guess who wakes H (not me, lol) up every morning at 3-4 am wanting food and an audience while he eats?

    Welcome back @climbingsingle and @short+sassy.
Glad the meds are working out for you @short+sassy, 21 lbs in 10 weeks is amazing. I need to up my workouts but right now I like using my arm as an excuse that I can’t be walking right now. LOL. No, seriously I’m using that as an excuse. September for that trip is around the corner! Eeek. I need all your recommendations at your stops including Seattle since we haven’t booked our excursions again.
@charlotte989875 I giggled at how easily M could change his attention.  Kids! Gotta love them.
congrats on the new family member @Casadena

As far as mammograms go, last year they told me I had some flecks in the screening but about 40% of women had it show up.  There’s a scientific name for it. It’s not just flecks, lol. They just have to keep an eye on it and didn’t seem worried. I’m glad they do “re-do’s” when they see anything out of the ordinary though. Better safe than sorry.

Did anyone have anything lifted from their porch from amazon before? It said my stuff was delivered yesterday at 4:40.  I got home at 5;15.  I can’t imagine porch pirates working that fast…plus I never had a problem with that before.  It was delivered by amazon and wouldn’t you know it? No picture of the delivery this time. I put a claim in but they don’t do anything before 24 hours. Ugh!
