WFH. I’m in bed, look at my work phone, and see an email that requires me to get up and do some actual work. I’m annoyed. It’s a Friday before a long weekend. Why are we working?!?
One of my friends is finally going to divorce her narcissistic cheating husband and today is her move out day. Yay! So happy for her. Change is difficult for anyone. I see why people stay in lousy marriages. It’s just “eaiser” to stay. But she’s getting out and I’m so proud of her!
I had an early morning PT session and was out with all the school kids waiting on their buses. Who is this person? Lol
It was 50 degrees when we woke up this morning and I couldn’t be happier! I’m so ready for fall.
I agree Pam- why are we working and who are the people who scheduled meetings for today?! I’m trying to sneak a run in at lunch. At least we have early dismissal!
I'm kind of excited that a heat wave hits next week. It felt like we were robbed of some summer so if we can score some nights out that would be great. That said I'm camping at the end of the week with Chiquita and would like to sleep well.
@CharmedPam, thanks for the reminder! I pay my bills at work, but I wasn't even thinking about that. A couple of them would have been late if I'd waited until Tuesday.
I'm always so happy when it is a 3-day weekend! My H and I aren't doing much. But I am going to use the extra time for more de-clutttering. But mainly relaxing and sleeping in, lol.
As we continue our endeavor to get our house in as sellable a condition as we can, my H put up a ladder because he is cleaning the "portrait rail" that is 18" down from our ceiling. In the olden days, people hung portraits/art from it. But, in modern times, it is only a hateful dust collector. And that stupid rail runs through over half our house.
Our wild cat is fascinated with the ladder. One of her favorite places to hang out is on the seat of my exercise bike. Which, right now, is a couple feet away from the ladder. She keeps reaching her paw out to it. And positioning herself like she is about to jump. But hasn't been brave enough yet.
Now that I'm using that bike again, she stares at me for the first few minutes I'm on it like, "What are you doing? That's mine."
I'm so excited for cooler weather! Of course that means something different here, but it was only 70 this morning and it shouldn't get over 90 this weekend.
I'm just trying to hang on until 5:00 today. My work project is still a shit show and I'm so excited to have 3 days away from it. It should be a pretty low key weekend, though. Going to H's work friend's cookout tomorrow afternoon, then a game tomorrow night. Cooking out at my friend's pool on Sunday and then maybe a lake day with my family on Monday. Hopefully a lot of sleeping in and some laying around mixed in.
@short+sassy I meant to ask you the other day, are you reconsidering your move destination away from Florida? If you're seriously looking at Cincinnati, take a look at some of the townships (suburbs) north of there. My BIL lives in one that's less than an hour from Cincy proper and loves it. The townships kind of function like small towns but have the convenience of being near a real city, and property is reasonable. But some of them are really red, so there's that.
I'm in the office today and they're letting us "leave early". Is 3pm really early? Everyone is mad. I also have a meeting at 11:30am.
Not much planned for this weekend. Still have to unpack and do laundry. Mow the lawn. I think my friend is coming over one day to swim. That's about it. It's going to be perfect weather though!
It’s officially H’s birthday month. I have no idea what is happening with his job. I am a little frustrated because I gave some options and recommendations to move things along but he wants to wait and see what the healthcare system he’s part of days. Like…that’s not a good option and they might say no and it will have taken four weeks plus for that answer. I told him yesterday that he’s playing with fire. He doesn’t have FMLA yet so his work isn’t obligated to keep him right now. I spent time looking at my finances yesterday and I’d have to downsize some stuff and I wouldn’t be able to save, but it would be really tight for me to be the sole income and we would not be having a good time. I’m trying to be sensitive but also realistic. And I feel bad because the anxiety is so bad it’s also causing depression now so obviously it’s a problem. Just ugh.
Otherwise I have two more shifts until vacation. I made today a short day and leave at 5, and then Wednesday is my last full 13 hour day and then I’m off, baby! I’ve been moving offices the last few days and I am a little sad to lose my solitude and office/hallway. But at least soon hopefully work life balance improves with the new schedule.
Otherwise just prepping for our trip. There’s almost a 70 point temperature swing overall from what we’ve been having so we’re going to freeze (objectively it will be beautiful. Mid 70s during the day and 40s at night). But I feel like I’ve forgotten what cold is like and now I don’t know how to pack. lol.

No, unfortunately we have totally abandoned the idea of moving to FL. It was disappointing because we had put a lot of dreams, time and effort into that plan. But even though the area we were looking at was inland and had much cheaper insurance rates than NOLA, that's always a concern when talking about FL. As we watched more and more companies pulling out of FL entirely, we just didn't want to take that gamble anymore.
Thanks for the advice! Almost everything I've read about Cincinnati sounds great. Even statistics, like the average salary vs. the average house value is impressive. We'll definitely be looking at some of the townships around it because those are better values.
I've seen some great houses in the Historic District of Middletown, OH. Which is about 30-45 minutes away from Cincy. Fixer uppers, but crazy cheap for the square footage and stunning architecture. One of them was on the market for 254 days when I looked at it about a week ago. And now it's pending. Probably because I looked at it and really liked it. The sellers should pay me a fee, lol.
But that's the kind of thing I'm excited about when looking at Cincy and the surrounding area. The houses are SO cheap compared to what you are getting.
Some of the northern KY cities on the other side of the river are super close to the downtown and also more affordably priced than the Cincy side that is near the downtown.
From what I've learned, Cincy and Dayton are less than 90 minutes away from each other (55 miles). But as each city is growing, they are growing closer to each other. There's even talk of putting in a light rail between the two cities because there is so much shared business and a shared work force. Expectations, though very speculative at this point in time, are that the area between them (north of Cincy/south of Dayton) is going to have an extra increase in value over the coming years.
Thanks for the political warning. But it's probably better than Ocala, FL! Or on par with the suburbs of NOLA. Sometimes it seems like the only strong blue cities and states are primarily in HCOL areas, lol. So unfortunately politics just isn't something I can consider on where I'm moving.
It was in the 50s here this morning too @charlotte989875 and it felt amazing...going to be in the 80s next week which is a bummer, I love crisp weather. The students are off the walls since it's a 3-day weekend as if they didn't just get back lol. Have a bbq on Sunday but otherwise hoping for some downtime.

@STARMOON44, I assume so. There's also a Middleton, OH that I think is east and closer to the Pennsylvania border. Without the "w". But I did a quick Google search and it had Middletown, OH, with the "w", for him.
@levioosa, you have to be realistic in this case! Nothing wrong with that.
@climbingsingle we get out at 3 too. Our old boss would always be like “just leave now” at 1:30 or 2. He would take the slack if anyone needed anything.
The labor day deals!!! Ahhhhh! I can’t take these make-up ads! Look what I preordered: https://www.vampyrecosmetics.com/collections/silent-hill-coming-soon Where’s @MissKittyDanger? She’d get the make-up dilemma i’m faced with lol. The colors look stunning and I don’t even have a glimpse of the lipsticks in the set. I’ve used this company before and the make up is pretty good. eta words
I doubt we leave early at all; if we do it'll be like 4.
I've had my meeting with my new co-worker and I think he'll do well. He asks a lot of questions, they're good questions, and he's very motivated to get in and do the work. He has a few quirks that are annoying, but I hope with time he'll stop those.
Nothing planned for the weekend and I'm really glad. I have tickets to see a showing to a Studio Ghibli movie and I'm going to visit mom, but that's about it.
@VarunaTT, we are never, ever allowed to go home early at my work either.
The first year I was here, I had been hired in November. So I only had a few hours of vacation time for Christmas. Christmas Eve was a normal work day.
A coworker said one of the owners will come by in the afternoon to wish everyone who was still here Merry Christmas. And then he would tell you to go home.
He did make his rounds. Didn't say a word about going home early. When I left at my normal 5 o'clock, everyone was gone and all the lights were off. Including in the hallways, lol.
But all my Fridays are half-days because I work 9's M-TH, so it's not too bad.

I'm here!
I bought even more make-up yesterday from vampyre. I’m horrible at this non spending thing! Especially with cosmetics and especially with this pay in 4 option they’re all giving me! where have you been? Hope all is well!

2 week vaca and solidly busy beforehand lol
But as a former big makeup spender, I get it.
In future might I suggest NYX or ColourPop - both excellent quality without breaking bank

LOL I’m tossing my colorpop once my new stuff comes in. The fallout on the shadows annoy me to no end! I think I bought some other stuff from colorpop and they were good. I was soooo tempted to get some lipliners on a sale they had going on, but got a better deal at ulta. Nyx gets good reviews from the beauty bloggers. I also LOVE Catrice’s becca undereye brightner dupe so have some Catrice loot arriving soon.
