Happy November!

I love this month. Should be nice and cool, in the 40s all day, and I’m not a huge Halloween person so I like returning to all things autumn without the halloween piece.

Work should be an ordinary day and have mass this evening since it’s a Holy Day of Obligation in my faith, but otherwise pretty ssdd.

Re: Happy November!

  • @banana468, if we lived closer I'd loan you my cat, lol.  She's cute as can be, but don't let her innocent looks fool you.  She is a vicious killer.  Good luck making it through the hectic day.

@mrsconn23, I never got a full-size candy bar when ToTing (pouty face).  Congrats to your H.  I know there are aspects of his promotion he has not been thrilled with.  Sounds like this will be a better situation and more pleasant working environment.

The tv I was trying to use as my monitor would not work with my computer. It kept immediately going to sleep.  So I finally broke down and ordered a monitor from Amazon for $70.  Meh!  But at least it will be here by tomorrow.

It should be a fairly mellow work day.  I have some work that has been hanging over my head and I'll be able to finish knocking it out today.  I took on a new task...prepare a statement of work and send it out for steel detailing (SD)...a few weeks ago.  There was a misunderstanding with the Project Controls person on how this is going to work now.

She thought I would just "know" when packages needed to be sent out for SD.  No, no.  She or the engineer is supposed to tell me.  She sent me all these e-mails on Thurs. afternoon looking for a status on the SD for all of these packages that I'd never been told to prepare.  And here I'd thought I was caught up on everything, lol.  But I think she understands now, so hopefully things will go more smoothly in the future.

Other than that, not much going on.  No kids came to the house last night, so that was good since we didn't have candy.  Our "exciting" Halloween was hours of Halloween Simpsons cartoons playing in the background.

  • I miss October already.  I didn’t get to do half of what I wanted to last month and now that I know the free haunted houses are just as good as the paying ones I need a do over! I’m very glad I took the three days off work to be with my family.  I saw them every day, and I’m not sure when I’ll see them next.  We went trick or treating for a whole 35 minutes lol. The younger 2 couldn’t handle the cold and the 3 year old was done after a few houses.  I still love taking the kids out, but by golly let us have warmer weather next year.  I’m happy to say I only had one reese PB pumpkin during the 3 days, and my cute little nephew gave me a fun size twix “for a snack for tomorrow”. I had to accept it.  Lol.  It’s really great when kids don’t really care for chocolate or candy, because they gladly give it away.  As my bro calls it, Dad tax. And he collects on it.
@banana468 that sounds like a busy day.  Also - kill the effer.  They can ruin so much in the house, and chew up wires and stuff.
@mrsconn23, so happy for your H! Hope it works out!
@Casadena, hopefully steroid woes are almost over?

  • @CharmedPam the mofos built a nest in DH's old Subaru years ago which was parked for no more than 48 hours at a time.  It was horrendous and he regrets not going through insurance for the damage.

I'm hopeful it's on its way out and DH will take the AC out of the downstairs window which is where we think it got in but...we live in the woods in CT.  They've been here before and they'll be here again but the brazenness of it to run across the kitchen floor sends chills down my spine.

Yeah it’s a bold move.  But maybe the. Mouse was thinking “the nerve of them to drop the sugar bowl!” 😆

  • We live in the woods too and always combat mice in our basement this time of year. They can be so destructive!

Today was a body and fender day as DH likes to call it. I had a massage this morning (I treated myself to a 90 min one). She really worked on my hip and hamstring. Next was haircut and color followed by eyebrow wax and tint. I'm good now for a month or so. I also just bought tickets for our family to do a Christmas Train at a local hardware and garden store. We will be doing it the Friday after Thanksgiving. Santa is there so hopefully the grandsons will be more relaxed around him this year. Tickets went on sale at 4:00 this afternoon. By 4:02 I had them. Popular days/times sell out quickly.
  • I am very tired of moving and the attitudes around it.  Just chill TF out, you won't die without office supplies and if it's that big of a deal, go buy some.  I had my own little meltdown today, but it was over my office furniture and what is/isn't going to fit and how to make it all work.  I have a smaller space and I'm gaining some parts and losing others.

Otherwise, I'm going through a super mean streak.  I did a bit of googling and well...seems I'm having a form of alcohol withdrawal.  Which is a bit shocking to me.  However, I always knew I mostly drank to numb emotions out, so I guess this is the result of feeling everything.  I have stayed mostly to myself lately because I can't trust my mouth/self-control right now.  Thank goodness Harley likes me as long as I keep feeding her.

We had a CAT get into our house through AC window slot.  Our own cat at the time was Nip.  She would use that same slot to come in and out of the house.  She never left our yard, but loved it outside.  We didn't have any way to put in a pet door, so that was perfect!

Until the interloper.  My H and I had gone on a walk with Izzy and stopped for awhile at a coffee shop.

We come home.  Izzy and I are still in the living room and I hear my H yelling loudly to "hold onto Izzy, do not let her loose".  I yell back, "Okay, what's going on?"  He doesn't answer, but less than a minute later a cat...who is not Nip...goes running through the living room and leaves through the same slot.  My H yells back that it's okay.

I go into our bedroom and see my poor sweet kitty, backed up in a corner and shaking.  Fortunately she wasn't hurt.  My H said he had come in and that other cat had cornered Nip and was hissing at her.

We felt SO terrible!  Nip must have been terrified and could have been killed.  It took her hours to calm down.  We fixed the slot to something sturdy that couldn't be moved.

  • Checking in! Work has been crazy busy this week. The head of my old division (who I worked with a lot, helped me get my new role, has been a big supporter) was removed from his role and is “retiring” effective January. But all his directs report to someone else immediately. It’s been really tough for my old coworkers.

And then I flew to Baltimore yesterday and I’m in an all day event tonight before flying back home tonight. Whirlwind trip but at least my hotel is spacious and right across the street from my building.
