This is so bizarre, but feels like she's just not that into you?

A friend of mine now only shares good news with me through her shiny, polished, hyper-curated professional newsletter. I am sick of being treated like a fan, not a friend, but I don’t know how to say anything without torpedoing the friendship… if there even is one to save.

I’ve now filtered the newsletter in my email (I’m too chicken to unsubscribe!) so that she’ll be forced to tell me things like an actual friend like she used to. Should I say anything? Just suck it up and accept she prefers it this way?

  • A personal newsletter?  I'm lmao over here.  When social media goes too far.

But what is the LW's normal conversations with this friend like?  Do they ever see each other in person?  Because if it's evolved down to their only communication being a newsletter, I think the LW can safely assume this friendship has already turned into an acquaintanceship.

  • "did you not get that update in my newsletter"

"Oh sweetie I have that in my spam.  Tell me about what's new!"
  • This is so weird.  If the only contact you have with this person is through a newsletter, and nothing else (not even texts, chatting on instagram msg, etc), then this is not a friend.
  • I have a professional acquaintance who does this, and I think it's weird AF. (She's someone well known in the industry so I see why she does it, but it still feels ick.) I would certainly not be entertaining this from someone I call a friend.
  • This isn’t a friend.
