Wedding Woes

Monday

How was everyone’s weekend? The outdoor cooking with scouts on Saturday was fun, even if it took two hair washes to finally rid myself of the smoke smell.  Yesterday was our usual Sunday morning routine (pancakes, mass, walk through the local botanic garden, some prep cooking) with *nothing* in the afternoon/evening. It was really nice.

Wishing everyone a good week!

Re: Monday

  • Oh @charlotte989875 pregnancy colds and the end of daylight savings time stink so bad when you have a little one.  My kids were up early Sunday but Chiquito embraced an extra hour of Roblox.

Friday night Chiquita stayed up and watched Ghostbusters.  We try to expose her to the classics from our youth.  We're thinking either Gremlins or Goonies next.

Saturday was busy.  Chiquita got a MUCH needed haircut, Chiquito had a playdate at a friend's and I ran a few errands plus took Chiquita to church while DH "cleaned up after nature" and blew the leaves he could to the backyard.  I cannot see grass in the yard now.  It's just layers of oak leaves which he'll undoubtedly need to do on Friday when he's off for Veterans' Day.

Sunday I got Chiquita out the door for a Girl Scout event, cantored the 11 AM mass and spent the afternoon tidying.  It doesn't look like much but I feel better that we have cleaner toilets and floors.    Back to the grind this week with Covid shots Thursday.
  • Weekend was fun! The boys had an awesome day with gma and gpa while we were in the city all day. The game was predictably dull, but we won and the atmosphere was super fun. Met up with friends before and after, and then had dinner just the 2 of us and were still home in time for our normal ~10:30ish bedtime. Kids were up about 5:15 yesterday and NOT in the mood for cartoons and snuggles in our bed, sadly. I got everyone breakfast and then went back to bed for a couple hours. Took the boys out mid-morning so H could have a few quiet hours to study. We went to Target, Costco, a sit-down lunch at a family restaurant, a driving nap, and then the library and park. It was an awesome day and they were incredibly well-behaved!

H has his final exam tonight so i'm on my own for bedtime...fingers crossed it goes well.
  • How adorable @charlotte989875, that outfit matches so well!
    @short+sassy wtg! That’s awesome news
@banana468, how old is Chiquita? My 2 older nephews are 6 and 5, almost 7 and 6, and they act all tough about loving Halloween and all things scary, but in reality, they can’t handle it! My bro and SIL last year thought they could handle Ghostbusters, but they weren’t ready yet lol.

weekend was soooooo slow. Only thing that happened was my bank locking me out of my account after I tried to add my gutter guy and pay him via zelle.  I called them ans they said there was a 48 hour hold to online banking. It was SO embarrassing to not be able to pay him the small amount I had to. That was my last straw with this bank.  They effed up 3 times already and are OUT.  I opened a new account Saturday with another one, and I’m just waiting to verify that my direct deposit was moved correctly before reaming them out. New bank has zelle and I had no problem paying the guy with my new zelle account.  So it was the bank, not zelle.  As a matter of fact, I’m STILL locked out and it’s nearing 72 hours. I just haven’t had time to call them.

  • @CharmedPam Chiquita is 12 and nearly 13.  She definitely can't do real scary but neither can I. It's little bits here and there that she can tolerate and the kind that's "scary" but clearly not going to happen vs. scary that gets under your skin like Silence of the Lambs or Seven.

While we watched the movie Chiquito (9) was playing Roblox.  I think it may have been too much for him especially the language.
  • @VarunaTT, I had a friend who had a similar attitude on relationships.  She told me something like, "I am really happy in my life. I travel and have an active social life.  I have a great job and great friends.  I wouldn't mind someone else in it, but am not looking for that either.  He would need to be a 'whole' person on his own and we mesh well into each other's lives.  Because I'm not changing mine."

I'm glad you had such a fun weekend and caught up with your friend.

We haven't put up a Christmas tree since we adopted Maple Bar. Our previous cat Nip didn't really climb the tree.  But she LOVED to bat around the ornaments on the lower branches.

@Casadena, good luck to your H!

Tomorrow is 3 years since I threw K out of my home/life.  It has been a helluva journey since then, but I think I'm doing really well and I'm happy.  I'm not sure I'll have another relationship; I'm not opposed to it, but whoever it is will need to be better company than just myself and Harley and better than my inner peace.  Pretty hard bar to clear and I'm totally okay with it.
Happy Single-versary.  Ironically enough I was talking to a friend about my status and dating and what’s out there, etc (she’s been married 35 years). I said I was Ok being single. “I like the temperature in my house the way *I* like it, I eat when I’m hungry and not because it’s just 6:00 and someone else is.  Or I like eating WHAT I want, nevermind when I want”.  She’s going through menopause and was like “fair enough.  I get that!”
on the other hand, I do hate being lonely the times I am.  If I’m entertained all the time, I’m good.

Let’s stay single until the right person comes along.  We’re worth it!
