Tuesday!

Students are off today for Election Day so I'm in for a superintendant's conference day.  Teachers are the worst students my coworkers and I are sitting here bored as heck.  Admin had promised last year that we could pick our own workshops this year but once again, we are having random content shoved down our throats.  Oh well.

Wishing everyone a good day!

Re: Tuesday!

  • Good luck @ei34 that’s a long day!

I need to go vote; I usually do it first thing with M but I had an 8:30 so I wasn’t rushing there before. Still trying to fight this cold and WFH until I do. I’m planning a nap and hopefully a walk, but definitely a nap.
  • I"m waiting impatiently for my Amazon order to get here so that I can keep working on my Christmas ornaments.

    Otherwise, nothing much happening.

Ugh! Did she forget to make good on her promise?

I’m very happy to be WFH today.  On Saturday I got the hyaluronic pen lip enhancer.  I heard it was pain free, needle free, and safer for you than traditional fillers with no downtime.  I call BS on that, because my lips have been badly bruised since I got it on Saturday. And it hurt like a Mofo.  It doesn’t hurt now (it did at the time) but I say bruised lips days after it IS considered “downtime”. I’m taking all the arnica I can.  Yesterday I had lipstick over it, and usually I walk in the office with lipstick on to start the day, but then throughout it, the lipstick wears off and I never re-apply.  Well, yesterday I made sure it was always on. They must have noticed I wore it all day! Lol

  • That’s annoying @ei34

@CharmedPam I find if i do lip liner on my entire lip (yes I know that’s technically not how you’re supposed to use it) and then apply my lipstick over it, it lasts almost all day.

My parents have COVID and I’m sure I will too soon. I knew they were sick so I went over with an N-95 to look at them and help with some stuff and while I was swabbing my dad he coughed right in my face like a friggen five year old. And I had the mask and my glasses on but I didn’t have a face shield to wear so I’m nervous. So I’m taking all of the zinc and vitamin C and trying to sleep as much as possible to prevent it. Ugh. And I’m hoping that dad feels better today. He’s really weak and then yesterday we found out he lost his health insurance and isn’t eligible until the new year because of the way his employer discontinued it. It’s all just terrible timing.

Otherwise SSDD. More work changes. I came in to work last week and my office had been moved. No one told me. I asked before my PTO. “oh we don’t have any plans right now to move.” Well clearly that was not true. Also was told that I (well, NPs in general) “don’t work as hard as the doctors” so we didn’t deserve extra “perks” like adequate staff. That was a fun conversation with admin. Never mind that I see just as many or more patients in the same time frame as the PCPs. Just so insulting.

The hell?!?!  My primary is an NP and I adore her.  She's given me better care and listened to me better than any MD I've ever had.  I'm mad for you, @levioosa, I hope they listened to you.
  • Hello!! We had a great weekend and hauled home so.much.bourbon (like...6? bottles??  LOL).  We were able to get Weller at Buffalo Trace, but we found out the day before was Blanton's...womp, womp.  We stopped at Four Roses, Wild Turkey, Bulliet, and the outfit that bottles Jefferson's (it's an independent bottling place).  We also stopped at a place called Whiskey Thief, which is clearly a small startup that's just getting off the ground.  They have an amazing setup and their plans for expansion look really neat.  They had a food truck, so we were able to grab lunch and have a nice view.  Bulliet does a self-guided tasting, which was perfect for DH and me since we didn't really plan to do any tours on this trip.

The hotel and restaurant I picked in Lexington were perfect.  Plus, we had a drink at the most perfect dive bar before we went to dinner.

I've been battling some annoying health issues.  I'm on the mend now, but it did put a damper on the weekend.  Plus, I got bloodwork done for insurance on Friday and now I'm bruised halfway down my arm.

The most annoying person on my team who cc's me on every random-ass thing was cc'd by someone on another team and she's all, "IDK why she even cc'd me?!"  It's taking everything in my power not to be like, "Oh YOU find it annoying?! Really??"

Anyway, SSDD otherwise.  DH and BIL have work trips next week, so it's going to be weird with just DefConn and me here.

Yup! I usually line and fill the whole lip too! @levioosa.  And then use a stain.  But still - once I eat or drink, that color is gone.  grrrr to your work.  I went to a NP after my GP and dermatologist couldn’t figure out what was wrong with my eye - and she saw me immediately and figured it out! I’d go back to her in a heartbeat (but, my general plan of action is to not have to seek any medical attention lol).  How’s the competition in your field? Could you easily move offices? I know it was difficult a few years ago for you, didn’t know if that has changed at all?

love the name Whiskey Theif.” @mrsconn23. I found out I wouldn’t do well on that tour when our brews crews stopped at a distillery, and I couldn’t even muster up a tiny tiny sip.  That stuff burns!

  • My mom also has Covid @levioosa. Hope it’s mild for them.

My mom is.. a lot sometimes. She texts sister and I to tell us and she’s all pikachu face about “I have no idea how I got it?!???” Umm ma’am you go to church in an area with low vaccination rates where people believe all the conspiracy theories trump spouted about vaccines being bad. That’s how.
  • Yeah - it's frustrating to see how many people are still not vaccinated.

Speaking of that, the kids and I get vaccinated Thurs.  I think DH will follow but I also think it makes sense to spread them out in case one parent needs a Friday recovery day.

For those that were vaccinated with the newest vaccine just released by Pfizer, how did you do?  I had no reaction to the one last year but have for prior vaccines.
  • ugh I’m sorry @charlotte989875. My mom thought hers was because of a vaccine reaction (she did a trial for a vaccine for UTIs). I was like mom, a vaccine does not give you severe URI symptoms like this and why didn’t you check for COVID?

I don’t think I should get any more COVID vaccines and I’m sad about it. Every time I’ve gotten one has been progressively worse. Last time my whole arm developed a raised hot itchy rash and my heart rate was in the 110s for three days straight even at rest (walking made it 130s-140s—my norm resting is 50s) and I had constant chest pain. So I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the impending myocarditis that awaits me if I get another dose means I should skip it.

I have not gotten mine yet, but my mother has and she did fine.  Said she was a little sick the next day, but take that with a grain of salt.  She is terrified of medications and always has some sort of reaction, just b/c of her nerves.  (I'm not mocking her, these are just facts.  I always have to find out if she can have a benadryl with whatever she just had a shot of, b/c she almost always breaks out into hives from nerves from shots).
