Wedding Woes

Monday

Dragging today, it was definitely one of those weekends where I could've used an extra day.  Got a lot of grading done, ran the errands I needed to, didn't have much time for house work, just my usual kitchen and bathroom cleaning.  Yesterday was really fun though, the tree and Radio City spectacular were fun and my parents bailed before lunch so my sister and I decided on Serendipity which was also a ball.  Sister has a job that permits WFH which she decided to do today and I'm jealous.  But really had fun.
How's everyone else?

Re: Monday

  • @banana468, Happy late birthday to Chiquita!  Yay, milestone birthday.

@ei34, your Sunday sounds so magical and awesome!  I'm living vicariously through your pics.  I've heard of the Serendipity frozen hot chocolates, but didn't realize there was a boozy version.  It was already on my food bucket list, but it just inched up a few notches, lol.

I was pretty sick this weekend.  I have a cold.  But the worst was I started getting a headache Fri. night and it was really bad all day Saturday.  Still had it most of Sunday, but it was better.  I had all this stuff I was going to get done and almost none of it did.  Including finishing unpacking!  I am such a slacker, lol.

Still have a cold and sore throat, but at least the headache is gone.  Thankfully it is a WFH day.  I'm going to try and work through my cold tonight when I'm off the clock and make a dent on my house tasks.

  • The weekend was too short, but I've just discovered I'm probably taking the last week of the year off, so that's awesome.  Basically, we're only allowed to roll over the same amount we earn.  Fine, that's normal.  But, our PTO bucket fills up on our year aniversary.  Since I was hired at the end of October, I have days I have to use or cash out.  I'd rather use them.

    I think otherwise, SSDD.
  • @VarunaTT, my company is similar.  They will roll over up to 160 hours, but will pay you out for any more than that.  Louisiana doesn't allow "use it or lose it" for vacation time, but employers can pay it out.

In that first 2020 Covid year, I couldn't go anywhere and was filled to the brim with vacation time.  I took every Monday in September off to burn it off.  It was SO nice!

Unfortunately, those days are long gone and now my vacation bucket is looking pretty scant!

  • That frozen hot chocolate looks amazing.  Jimmy Falon brought one on set for Cher I think it was, because she loooooves them too.
happy belated to your new teen @banana468
my 2020 bank looked pretty good too @short+sassy, but now it’s like yours and I’m pretty good at depleting it.  Hopefully you’re better tomorrow!

I didn’t end up going to my brothers this weekend. He said he had a cold coming on, and I didn’t want to chance it before a big vacation.  Instead my friends and I drove to WI for a diamond painting depot store (apparently I’ll “get into it” lol), a Christmas market and then the illumination lights at Six Flags.  It was a fun filled day.  Sunday was a wash.  Speaking of, I used an aha/bha exfoliater in my shower yesterday, and the chemicals were so harsh it burnt my face.  I hope the skin can heal by Sunday because I plan to burn it again with sun rays (really I don’t, I slather the SPF on like I should).
We had talk this morning about our holiday party on Thursday.  Apparently my salespeople said i was fun and funny and talkative after a few drinks.  I’m not.  I’m like that normally but the salespeople don’t work in the office and typically see me as shy and quiet and the work horse. Ha!

  • Also, this is beyond brilliant lol

  • Weekend was fun! Friday we had H's holiday party - bowling, out to a nice tapas place for dinner, and a few drinks after with a smaller group of 10. Saturday we ran a few errands and played and then took the boys on the Christmas train ride things and they had SO MUCH FUN. I was a little worried about G bc he doesn't always do well with loud and crowds, but he was just enamored the whole time. Santa was on the train too and the whole way home G was asking questions "that's not the real Santa though, jsut someone with a beard who dressed like him? Bc it's not even Christmas and Santa lives really far away-why is he here now? How does have time to be here and visit all the other kids" "Why would someone pretend to be Santa? Why did he have someone dressed like an elf?" etc; etc. So I don't know how long the Santa fantasy will last in our house, lol.

Costco, Panera for lunch, and the library to play bc the day was too gloomy and wet to go to the park then H and I ordered food after they went to bed. all in all a great weekend!

@ei34 your day in the city sounds and looks fabulous!

  • Good morning!  The weekend was all right.

Friday, we went out to dinner with an old friend of DH's.  It was nice to catch up.  We went to Costco and Trader Joe's and then came back to the house to just hang out the rest of the night.

Saturday, I went grocery shopping.  My friend L came over and we baked cinnamon rolls.  DH picked up firewood and then some wood that hasn't been split yet at FIL's.  We have access to a free splitter, woohoo.  BIL came back from GA.  He did have a very rough drive home as his car was damaged in a larger accident that involved a fatality.  He was very shaken up by it all.  FIL and the kiddo were here for a bit too.

Sunday, I made a huge batch of spaghetti.  We watched football and had a pretty relaxed day.

We started Severance and I'm loving it.  Is anyone watching the Squid Game Challenge show?  We didn't watch Squid Game, but we are LOVING the reality competition.
  • Weekend was good. Still fighting the remnants of cough/Covid so we laid pretty low. Friday we did Christmas in The Village where we live- M met Santa, he asked if M liked trucks and M told him a garbage truck drove by our house. He liked meeting Frosty the Snowman more than Santa and riding the trolley.

Saturday we did thanksgiving at my parents with sis and her family. But we did prime rib i stead of Turkey which was clearly a much better choice.

It’s pretty dreary here today and I’m ready for a nap!
  • Happy Birthday to Chiquita! That hot chocolate looks AMAZING @ei34! We went to a Yuletide Village with DS2 Saturday evening. It was fun but I didn't know what to expect. I guess I was expecting more Christmas but it was more fantasy themed. It was held at a Ren Fest park. I have never been to one before so it was fun. The artisans were amazing. I bought a straw goat and a viking gnomish thing made of wood and rabbit fur. We also ate a lot. Overall it was a fun weekend. DS2 kept the dog at his apartment because the hotel wasn't pet the friendly. The pup wasn't happy with apartment living. This could be problematic because he is suppose to stay there when we go to Portugal in the spring -whomp whomp.

Today I had PT and started organizing for wrapping presents. I have way too many wine bags - given with wine I've never bought any. Ii hate to throw any away but seriously. I hope to get most of the wrapping done Wednesday. Tomorrow I'm having lunch with a friend and H and I have dance lessons.

  • @ILoveBeachMusic, I'd think your dog will be fine enough for your all's Portugal trip.  I know my animals are nervous staying in new places even when we are with them.  But they start getting used to it after a few days.

Portugal sounds exciting! I have always wanted to go.  I have Portuguese ancestry on my mom's side.  My family immigrated from the Azores to Hawaii in the late 1800s.
