Wedding Woes

Thursday

Prudie Day.  Finally back at work and glad we are back in the normal routine.

How's everyone?

Re: Thursday

  • I'm pissing people off left and right this week and it feels so good.  Don't make my or my people's job harder and I won't yell at you.  I'm just glad I have my management's backing and they think I'm standing up for the right things.

Anyway, looking over Prudie.  SSDD for the most part otherwise.  So ready for the weekend.
  • @charlotte989875, glad to hear the baby is doing well!

My local real estate investing group is having their Christmas party tonight.  I'm looking forward to that.  Last year, both my H and I won a door prize.  Nothing major, but it was still neat to win something.  He got a book about managing rentals...

But my gift was way cooler!  I got the New Orleans themed version of Monopoly.

Not an open bar, but they usually have decent food.

  • Bossman leaves today and isn't really back in the office until Thursday next week.  Granted, it'll be hell that Thursday and Friday, b/c I'm gone the next week.  I'm 100% positive he'll think, Oh shit, and have a list of stuff to be finished before I go, but it'll be okay.

Has anyone had pet insurance before?  I know it used to be considered a gimmick, but it seems somwhat worthwhile now.  I found one that also covers dental care and it's $20/month.  I've lived through heartworm treatments, cancer treatments, and "the cats ate the lilies and we have to save them from liver failure" treatments, so $20/month compared for accidents and new sickness to the literal thousands out of pockets at a moments notice to save my pet, seems like a good deal.  Most of them seem to have a $250 deductable and cover 80-90% of the bill, depending.

Otherwise, not to much here.  Just waiting for vacation really.
  • @VarunaTT, I've never gotten pet insurance, but have thought about it.  I think it's a good idea, but you have to be careful with the policies because I remember some of them had a lot of exclusions.

Izzy is too old to be covered anymore for a new policy.  But I should revisit it for Maple Bar.

I've always been jealous of how cheap their medical procedures and insurance are compared to mine.  I also wish I could get "spayed" and only have a couple days of recovery time, lmao.

  • DH's cousin has pet insurance and says it's saved her ass more than once.  It seems worth it. My job actually offers it as a benefit.

Like anything else with insurance, it depends.

I thought about doing it years ago and was glad I never did.  I would have paid thousands of dollars over 10+ years and never used it.

But 1-2 major incidents and I would have been sorry.

So, Harley is VERY INTERESTED in the exposed duct work in my ceiling.  VERY INTERESTED, as in the desperate "I want up there" meows.  She absolutely cannot reach it, but I'm terrified of her launching herself at some point.  That's why the cat tree is in the living room where I can watch it and she's still locked in my bedroom when I'm at work.  I feel like it's a countdown to coming home to a broken kitty.

As I was posting about looking into pet insurance for Maple Bar, I was totally having this thought!

My previous cat Nip would sometimes climb up to great heights.  But that was about it for her "adventures".  Plus she was an indoor cat.

Maple Bar is an indoor cat also.  But she has no fear.  She also likes to chew on boxes and all forms of plastic.  She doesn't purposely eat them, but I'm sure she sometimes ingests small pieces because she keeps chewing on them.

Do you have a possible visitor in the duct work?

I ask because I am fairly certain that there are more than just 4 living breathing creatures that live here.

Sometimes I wonder and I have found a bat in the hallway before.  But I've had the cat tree in a few places and she's always looking up at the ductwork no matter where it is.  I also think that's why she loves to get on top of my cabinets in the kitchen, b/c they're tantalizingly close to one of the ducts, but still just a bit too far for her to jump.  If she were any bigger, she could probably make it.
  • Pet insurance saves me thousands a year. My baby is high maintenance!

had just an amazing day at work finished a major project and honestly crushed it. Everyone is thrilled and I’m sipping champagne

Way to go!!! Enjoy the 🍾!
  • I’m not sure if it was just MY petsmart, or all - but the reviews seem bad across the board.  I believe in pet insurance but not through petsmart.  That one is a scam! I’ll have to read my yelp review again for details on why I think that because it’s been years but I had people respond and agree with me.

  • Re. the Pet Insurance talk .... my dog has a death wish, and pet insurance would have probably paid off.  My rabbits, not so much.  So it is hit and miss, but Murphy's Law is that the pet you get it for will have no issues.
