Wedding Woes

Monday

Man, I'm in the countdown to being off next week and I definitely have vacation-itis!

I bought all of the concert tickets my little heart wanted: Beth Hart, Sarah McLachlan, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, with a hold for P!nk.  One of my friends really wants to go to P!nk, but isn't looking at tickets until after the 1st of the year.  We're debating where to sit; I don't mind spending some $ to see P!nk, but I'm more concerned with being in a stadium show.  Blech.  So many people.

Weekend was decent.  I ended up not doing anything; reindeer event was canceled for myriad of reasons.  I downloaded Final Fantasy Online and started playing.  It's another MMORPG really, but it's a new story and hopefully will keep me entertained.  I did get up at 6 am this morning.  For right now, I'm just coming into work early.  The goals is to get comfortable with getting up at 5 am and then starting to work out in the mornings.

How was everyone else's weekend?

Re: Monday

  • @VarunaTT, so many things to look forward to!  Vacation next week and future concerts.

    I had my work Christmas party on Saturday at the race track.  We were in one of the big clubhouses that overlooked the track.  When you checked in, they gave each employee and their guest a $10 voucher for betting!  That was a nice surprise.  Though unfortunately none of our bets won.

    The food was good, but light on options.  It was just a salad, one side, one veggie and one entree (pork).  With cookies for dessert.  I guess it was tough luck for any vegetarians in the crowd.  They're an old fogey kind of company and I wouldn't be surprised if it never occurred to them.  Or think vegetarians are only in CA, lol.

    I like most of my coworkers and it's always nice to hang out with them in a more social setting.  I totally hit it off with a coworker's date and we had a lot of fun conversations.  He's involved in the wardrobe department for tv/movies.  But when COVID first started and none of that work was going on, he picked up an online job being a stylist for StitchFix!

    I got some tea.  He said it was a great job for awhile, but then a new CEO took over who came from the IT industry.  And that person did not jive with the creatives, who were a lot of the employees.  They started not treating their employees very well, though he didn't give me examples.  And turns out, they were using the stylists anyway to gather data and create a good AI program to replace a lot of those folks.  But take all that with a grain of salt because he does have some hard feelings about the company.

  • Those shows sound fun @VarunaTT

    Weekend was a mixed bag. Friday I got home and cleaned the house after work. Saturday we did a hike and then SIL and I went shopping. The mall was not really busy surprisingly. I’m almost done with my shopping. I might buy a few more things but otherwise I am pretty much set. Now I just have to wrap everything.

  • I’m off until January! I had a few things to wrap up this morning after having to take the afternoon off on Friday but now I’m done. I definitely didn’t get as much done as I wanted but it’s fine. I’m not worrying about it now!

    I’m going to work out. Eat. Nap. I have 4 more gifts to get plus wrapping paper and finishing up cards. But I have all week to do it!
  • I'm back!

    Surgery was Dec 6th - all went well.
    We got lucky with timing. IL's could pick up BK on Wednesday after school {i didn't get out of hospital i think until maybe 6?}
    M got me home, settled, toast and juice {in hospital i was so nauseous from anxiety}

    Side story - anxiety is b.s lol I was dry heaving before, my heart rate went up in OR .... my dr and nurses and staff were SO nice.

    I was so half dead. M kept getting mad I did stairs half asleep and half out of it, but I needed to get up a couple times.
    I slept super late next day, and BK was so sweet. She brought a stuffy to me before she left.

    Thursday night was the wake for SFIL's dad - Luckily BK is old enough to follow directions easier with low help. She knew I couldn't do much, so I was in our bed with a pillow propped up while waiting for BK to get ready. She ended up adjusting the pillows on her bed so I could sit easier and read a story and do song.

    Friday was the funeral.
    M dropped off BK then headed out because it was 10am and east end - so traffic.

    BK ended up having a double sleepover at my mum's because M was exhausted and I was sore.
    It was good.

    Working from home wasn't easy - my chair sucks.

    Found out last night M's friend's dad passed. Knew it was coming, but figured not this soon.
    He was much older {like late 80s} and not really in great health.
    Likely funeral in January because he's Russian and they're gonna wait for the orthodox holiday.
    Downside - likely we'll see people we haven't seen/spoken to since I was pregnant.
    BK definitely won't be there.
  • @MissKittyDanger, I'm glad your surgery went well!  BK is such a sweetie.  Good to hear from you.
