I put more money for my engagement ring behind my fiances back

We bought the ring together, while it is being made, I added more money from my pocket to get a bigger stone. It’s the same ring just with a bigger stone ( my hands are huge) the jewelers won’t say anything and give him an invoice for what he paid. I feel guilty but I’m only changing the size because the previous stone is really small and will look weird on my big hands. 
Am I doing the wrong thing ?

    I think doing this behind his back is not right. You need to have an open and honest conversation about this.

    Starting a marriage (engagement) off with deceit is not a great plan. Marriage is about so much more than one day. You need to be in a relationship with someone you can talk to about anything.

    Don’t get me wrong, getting a bigger stone from your pocket is fine, it’s similar to getting a ring upgrade years later. But I think she should have been honest with her fiance.
