Wedding Woes

Early Tuesday

Okay, Levioosa got me started here with the silent yellow wedding so I may as well start a Tuesday chat 😝
umm…what’s happening at 5:30am? My workout went well. The kids will be asleep for about half hour or so. Lol. Wishing everyone a good day!

Re: Early Tuesday

  • I just got up and took care of the pup. He is almost over being mad at us for leaving  him at the kennel this weekend. Actually he has been sleeping most of the time he has been home - guessing he didn't sleep much this weekend. I'll workout in about an hour. I've always wanted to be  super early workout person but just can't do it. Very impressive @ei34! I have a meeting this morning with someone from our Y association then more putting away the tree. It seems like this year it has taken forever!
  • I'm having a frustrating day at work.  It's never good when mechanically things aren't going well and you don't know why.

Family wise Chiquita had her first dress rehearsal yesterday for our busy week.  I'm pushing her to get home, eat, get homework done and go to bed.  Tech week takes such a toll on the body emotionally and physically that rest is so important.  I'm really looking forward to seeing the shows.

  • I am completely exhausted this morning.  We had major storms most of the night and they were LOUD.  One of my neighbors has a piece of metal that kept banging around.  Plus my dog was terrified and stayed velcroed to me or slept on top of my head.  It was probably around 2:30ish by the time I finally fell asleep.

Last night, my H and I made a list of all the repairs/upgrades we want to finish for our house.  Not as bad as I thought it would be, though some of them are doozies.

The two duplexes we have left (not including ours) both need new roofs.  Our own house does also, but there aren't any leaks anywhere.  I'm hoping to be able to sell it without having to replace the roof.  BUT we do need to replace the soffits and fascia for our house anyway, so it would kind of make sense to just do it all at the same time.  If it wasn't for the soffits/fascia, I'd definitely be taking my chances that someone would just buy it anyway.  It's demoralizing to be facing such huge repair bills.

I wonder if roofers will give a "bulk" discount like Costco, lol.

  • @MyNameIsNot, I'm glad you had so much fun on your trip!  If you were going to get sick, at least it was on the last day.  Good luck with your interviews!

  • So productive! @ei34

Fingers crossed! @MyNameIsNot and I hope you feel better soon!

Hopefully the quotes are cheaper than expected @short+sassy

Not too much happening over here. I’m trying to incorporate more fiber into my diet so I’ve been adding chia seeds to my oatmeal and while I’m handling the texture change okay, it’s just a lot of extra bulk (the whole point) to get down. I feel like I’ve been eating this oatmeal for thirty minutes and it’s only half finished lol.

Otherwise it’s California cold outside (37) and I left my puffy in the car so I’m going to be extra cold for a few minutes before the car warms up. Thank goodness for heated seats.

  • OMG this week is already long and it's only Tuesday.  Tech issues abound, trying to get reviews done, meeting with HR today about my open position.  It's been ridiculous.

DH was supposed to go to Chicago today, but he pushed the trip to tomorrow because they are getting snow all day today.  I was up at 3am listening to the freezing rain beating against our window and stressing a little about his drive up there since the I-65 corridor can be so sketchy when there's bad weather.   I'm relieved he decided to delay.

DH had his big interview yesterday.  He felt it went OK, but it could go either way.   It will be disappointing if he doesn't get it because the two people who held the position previously talked him into going for it (when we were both quite hesitant about him doing so) and were in the interview, but the ultimate decision is up to the VP.  And also DH is nervous about the money piece of it because he's been burned before.  He's afraid his current salary and the few experience gaps (for which is has a plan and supports in place to help him navigate) he has will lead them to low-ball him.  We are on the same page and will pass if they won't pay him.  We're in a good position because we'll be fine no matter the outcome.  It will just be annoying to be emotionally stirred up by this and also, it's pulling his focus from his current job.

Anyway, at least I can't say I'm bored at the moment.  LMAO

Oh, ask for a buy 2 get 1 free roof deal, @short+sassy? Lol
sounds amazing @MyNameIsNot! I’d love to go.  I was in Utah as a kid but don’t remember much.  You remind me, I have a “places I’ve been” and I don’t know if I should do places I remember being… or places I’ve really actual been to.  Lol.
@mrsconn23, I hppe your H gets the outcome he wants.  Wise to postpone the trip.  I doubt any planes are landing or going anyway?

I think I’ll do my workout at noon and do round 1 of the snow plow after that.  I have a bar bingo event tonight but I’m keeping an eye on this weather. I typically don’t go out, especially for stuff like that if it’s still snowing. I like that it’s a WFH day too.
edit; yesterday my boss comes up to me and suggested we do a show again.  We did six 2 years ago and had a blast. We’re doing Beetlejuice the musical!

  • My sister flew home yesterday through Chicago so i'm glad she missed all the weather and didn't get delayed. Although by us it's more slush and and not a lot of actual snow. The office is totally dead bc people hate driving in it, or driving when there's a possibility of it.

H flipped out on me this morning via text about the state of the house. I'm super over that happening. I agree with him, but it's not all my responsibility. We didn't give ourselves enough time after break to get everything cleaned up and put away. I had taken a day off but ended up with a sick kid at home and it's pretty tough to get anything done with a sick snuggly 2 year old. Trouble focusing after that fun text exchange and i'm super busy at work the next 2 days.
  • @Casadena grrr why would he assume it’s your responsibility?  Hopefully tonight you can come to a compromise and tidy up TOGETHER since you both live there together!

  • He was going to drive to Chicago @charmedpam, but still...I didn't want him on the roads since the farther north, the more sketchy it was going to get.  :)

  • ((hugs)) @charlotte989875, that's a lot at any time, but postpartum makes it extra hard.  Vibes for you and baby Jack.  I know we're internet friends, but please let us know if you need anything at all.
  • oh @charlotte989875 that's so hard. Sending lots of healthy vibes/etc for you all.
  • That’s a lot @charlotte989875 sending all the hugs and healthy vibes your way. The beginning is so hard, for so many reasons.
  • I'm sorry @charlotte989875.  Gallbladder issues are no joke and I've seen a few instances with postpartum moms including a friend on FB who needed her GB removed just before Christmas after giving birth in early Dec.  I hope you are OK!

It's never great when you feel alone but it sounds like you're surrounded by great medical professionals so please don't forget to take the time for you and eat the diet you need.
  • @Casadena - I'm sorry about the flip out via text.  It's not helpful and so disruptive when you're trying to work.  There are times I'd love to go back to no text capabilities.

  • I appreciate you all so much! Got a little more sleep last night so feeling a bit better this morning. I’m thankful we have a great medical team looking out for us.
I'm no doctor but my guess is also that if your system is off then that can tank your supply and consequently it makes the weight gain an issue.   It's such a vicious cycle.  I'm not sure if you ever used formula but I'm a firm believer in a rested mom who shouldn't feel like she needs to beat herself up in guilt!
