Wedding Woes

Monday

How was everyone's weekend?

Re: Monday

  • Weekend was busy but not in an overwhelming way, just lots of good times.  I like Mondays enough bc there's not much after work.  Dealing with a headache today but I did a ton of cooking yesterday to give myself an easier time a few nights this week and thankful for that.
  • Not too much is happening over here. It’s raining all day. Yesterday we had MIL’s bday brunch which was good. It was nice to catch up with everyone. I think MIL had a good time too. At some point today I need to meal prep for the week.

  • Party friday was so good!
I got sick middle of the night, so I wasn't hung over in the morning lol (follow me for more advise - jk)

Weekend otherwise was lowkey. It took 2 days to recoup from party. This is why I don't go out or drink lol

So I got the job, but there's some flags - so I'm unsure.
My boss is on vacation, but because of situation she's messaging higher ups. I have until Wednesday to respond.
  • @MissKittyDanger congrats on getting the job! Is this with a new company? How long do you have to decide?
  • Weekend was good.  I had my hair cut and colored on Saturday.  I had to buy some product too, so the bill was a bit **gulp** inducting, but the product will last me for a few years with this short cut.  I'm going to have to decide what I want to do about my color...eventually.  For now, the black/blue phase continues on.  I felt like I should've won an adulting reward: my bed was made, all of my clothes were clean and put away, and I did all of my prep cooking, not just the next four days.  I'm hoping that keeps me from binging on the weekend.

The entire city has shut down.  There's an inch or more of solid ice on the ground and it's not above freezing yet.  All of the parking lots are in terrible shape.  I've never seen it just look like an ice skating rink before, even in the middle of ice storms.  My movie is cancelled for tonight.  I threatened my mother into agreeing not to go outside her house for anything, that she's to call me.

I've signed up for a coaching service.  James Fell recommends them and he's one of my favorite writers, and this service is the only one he'll recommend, so I'm trying it.  I've got to lose weight.
  • @STARMOON44 it's a new company, but there's flags that make me question.
I have until wednesday to respond. Since I'm going from one insolvency firm to another, I used that as reasoning why I need to hold off.
  • Weekend was great. DS1 and DIL ended up coming because the storm wasn't as bad as predicted. We had a nice visit, just the 4 of us and the dogs! Their dog is a 9 month old mini-aussie. He wants to play all the time which is great for our dog. The size difference was a bit worrisome. However, their dog seemed to realize he is so much bigger than ours. They were together at Christmas but there were so many people around that they did play together much. This weekend they were hilarious. They of course wanted each others toys but were very gentle about it. It was adorable when they left. They put their dog in the car and our dog started crying!

Saturday we took our dog to agility classes while DIL visited a local friend. DS1 loved it and wants to find a similar situation near them. We also went out to our favorite restaurant that is in a small town east of us. We never go on a Saturday night and boy was it noisy! They were packed (you have to have a reservation on Friday or Saturday nights). Now I know why we don't go out on the weekends - the perks of being retired! Sunday we all went to church and then they left after a quick lunch.

Today I had a derm appointment (still trying to get rid of some warts on my leg) and a pedicure. This afternoon I'm meeting some of my book club friends to see Boys in the Boat. We read it years ago and just loved the book.
  • Weekend was nice. We had a leisurely Saturday morning then each took a kid for some errands and a car nap then went to a fundraiser dinner thing (very casual, church hall type vibe) that SIL/BIL invited us to.  The boys were wild and we didn't stay a long time. Sunday IL's came over for breakfast and then H and went to an appliance store to pick out a new oven/microwave bc both of ours are on their last legs. Then a flooring store to look at tile for the primary bathroom that we're finally fixing this spring. We need to rip it down to studs so have to pick out every single detail. Then we had a beer and watched football for an hour at a bar before we went home, it was a lovely little sunday :)

Congrats nonetheless @MissKittyDanger.  If this isn't the right job for you, maybe it’ll boost your confidence to apply for one that is!
yes @ILoveBeachMusic, weeknights are the worst, population wise. I think it’s why places do bar bingo, slingo, trivia etc Monday - Thursday’s
@VarunaTT  glad you like the cut. We’re getting what you got yesterday tonight.  Thankfully a wfh day, so I’m not leaving.  Road’s aren’t so great now.

i cannot keep my skin moisturized.  And I use good stuff! Oils, creams, lotions - you name it.  Foundation over my skin cracks.  I’ll switch to a powder. Winnipeg has this product people love, tallow cream, (eternal tallow) but it was all sold out when I went to buy it, so I bought some from an etsy supplier in MO.  The stuff smells SO BAD.  I have some extra essential oil to add into it but I don’t even know if it’s giving my face the extra moisture.  Has anyone used eternal tallow? Does it smell bad? To clarify, my face is fine.  It’s when I use foundation it separates and cracks and looks dry.  And I have so many imperfections I kinda need to wear foundation.  It’s lose-lose in the winter.

  • @CharmedPam I wouldn’t add essential oils to your face. They can be really drying and irritating. If you haven’t tried slugging you could give that a try and use either Cerave Healing Ointment or Aquaphor or Vaseline at night over your lotion. I do a moisturizing toner—> snail mucin mixed with a peptide serum—>lotion—> jojoba oil—>Aquaphor at night on my non active days. Is your makeup going on dry and cakey or is it separating throughout the day?

  • @levioosa even oils made for the face? I made sure to get one for skin and it made the tallow balm bearable.  Liquid foundation (and now cream) actually separates AS It goes on.  It gets so bad throughout the day as my face gets dryer.  Maybe I’ll try aquaphor but will that clog pores?
laura geller is actually a good powder for me.  My esthetician actually told me about it.  But even the “fair” and lightest color is orangey on me :(

  • @CharmedPam anything that’s heavily fragranced can be irritating so try avoiding the essential oils for now and see if it makes a difference. It does sound like you have a product issue with the skin prep not meshing well with the makeup products. Are you using a primer? I also found letting products absorb for a few minutes before moving onto makeup helped too. And I have also heard (I usually have the opposite problem lol) that if you’re dry and your makeup separates during the day that using a facial mist a couple times throughout can help with that. Aquaphor can clog pores so be careful especially around the eyes. I personally don’t struggle with breakouts with it but I know other people do. I honestly haven’t been using powder foundation for awhile so I can’t comment too much on those. I’ve found as I age that powder has not been as kind to me.

Which restaurant? Just curious, and also, we're always looking for new places to try.  :)

Oh just about every primer known to man, I’ve purchased. I have all the beauty bloggers filling my fb feed.  The newest one I do want to try is the il mikiage plumping serum/primer.
it’s really weird this skin thing started when I started the laser I think.  I don’t remember having much problems before. AND also, complete opposite as I age - powder sets on my skin nicely (but sucky coverage) whereas no liquid or cream can.

That’s so odd. How long ago did you do the laser treatment and which one was it?

  • Started in October.  It’s the viva venus. I have one more this Friday and then I’m done. I like the results minus the foundation thing

Cortona's in Fortville - it would be a haul for y'all. It is a locally run Italian restaurant. Simone, the chef and owner, was a chef at Mateo's in Noblesville at one point. Yummy food and he's great!

We loved Mateo's when we lived on the north side.  We actually need to make a trek out to Moondrops Distillery, which is in Fortville.   We met their rep at Total Wine a couple months ago.

You could make a day of it - distillery then dinner.
