Hump Day

I actually woke up thinking it was Tuesday, which rarely happens to me, it’s usually the reverse, so I’ll take it.

Ssdd at work and Wednesday is a lighter day after work as far as schlepping the kids around…remembered to pull a dough out of the freezer on my way out the door so we’ll make our own pizzas for dinner.

@climbingsingle how have you been?

Re: Hump Day

  • It’s sunny in Buffalo. I don’t think I realized how long it’s been since the sun is out until M yelled “mama, the sun!!” On the way to school this morning.

It’s warm enough to take J out for a walk this morning so we’re going to try and get some natural vitamin D and endorphins!
  • Kid activity signup is so intense. The boys are both starting to get interested in doing stuff outside of school and home and juggling scheduling for different park districts vs private and sign up times.....yikes. Trying to get them both into a Kindermusik type class that they both seemed excited about, N wanted gymnastics and G wanted golf - and we want them both to take swim lessons again at some point. Hopefully I can find all the right things at the right time!

We also need to really get moving on some house projects. We haven't used the shower in the primary bath in like 3 years because it leaks. We need to gut the whole bathroom (it's a tile and laminate nightmare from the 70s that was partially and poorly updated probably just to sell). We also need a new oven and microwave because both are broken. So i'm really glad that H stayed at his frustrating but better-paying job because we've got a lot of expenses coming this spring.

Tired today but work is slow at least.
  • We’ve decided one activity per season for now @Casadena in part because signups are too confusing. M has been doing swim lessons since June mainly bc two of our siblings gave in ground pools and we need him to know what to do around water. We’ll probably add another thing in the summer, hopefully track because he loves to just run around!
  • Work has been super intense and now my boss has taken a temporary promotion so I’m only to be even busier. It’s nice in a way, recognition that I’m very good at my job and can also step into his shoes a bit. But I didn’t actually want to be busier right now! One of the vitamins I’m taking a megadose of in hopes of getting an embryo next IVF round gives me insomnia and really vivid dreams and I am just tired. I feel like I spent the night fending off and invader with a knife even though that was just a dream. So I’m taking a day off to reset my energy. January sucked and today it is ending and there is not reason not to expect February will be better. Doing an hour in one of those flotation pods where you just zone out and relax, and then drinks with a friend who will be mad I’m not drinking alcohol because she’s got a problem, but oh well I will be enjoying my mocktail!

That's what we try to do too but our signups often span multiple "seasons". We live right on the border of 2 towns. One had signups in December for anything January through June, with most activities running ~4 weeks. The other has signups next week for mid-Feb through May, with 2 sessions of things. So trying to have them in something starting in Feb, through June, but making sure all the sessions line up and we're not doing more than one thing at a time. Woof, it's a lot.

Subtracting a work week day is even better @ei34!
enjoy that mocktail, worry free @STARMOON44 .  There could be many reasons not to drink. Health and cost come to mind.

My nail lady is leaving colorstreet. She wants to put her hand into other companies. So she held a “live” event to sell off her stock.  I claimed 19 strips I think! I don’t know if I was the first person to claim them all and win, but I hope so.  I’ll be set for a year. I was introduced to the new lady but unless the Halloween or fall collection is superb, She won’t be hearing from me for awhile (I also give some
away to friends and family of they want to try it out).

SSDD.  I actually woke up and worked out today.  Not a whole lot by my standards.  But I did some yoga stretches and TRX.  I’m not going to dive into a good workout on January 31st.  That’s what February 1st is for.

  • Going out to dinner with a friend tonight.  I've been craving tacos, so we're going to a delicious local restaurant.

I'm feeling really restless and out of sorts.  I think it's just b/c I've been stuck inside with such cold weather.  My birthday is coming up and I have no idea what I want to do.  I kind of want to host a mocktail party at my place, but that will require effort on my part and I'm kinda meh about that right now. I could have it hosted at the place I took my mocktail class, but it's very small.  There were less than 10 of us at the class and we were crowded.

Otherwise, SSDD.  Still trying to find the balance between resting and pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
  • Managing kid activities is rough!

We have them in GS and CS.  For Chiquita, GS activities can span the entire year but are far more intense Oct - early June.  For Chiquito, the CS activities are pretty much done in June with some isolated events that you can attend (like a minor league ball game) in the summer.

But this year Chiquita has played fall soccer and been in the school play and is now in winter soccer.  Chiquito did fall soccer and winter basketball and both kids have religious class  (1x/week for Chiquito and 2x/mo for Chiquita).   They WANT to do these but it's a lot to manage with driving and I had a not so kind discussion where I pushed back on the guilt Chiquita was trying to lay on me that she 'never gets to have a play date and friends over'.  Kid, if you're never home sometimes I need one free day to make sure we all keep wearing clean underwear.

DD is thinking through all this now with the twins. The youngest will probably go to one "camp" but the twins will have multiple along with coming to our house for Nana and Papa camp. One of the twins is having thoughts about being too busy now. They do have 2 things going on - swim and karate. Karate is more of a therapy thing for other twin but what one does the other wants to do. They are in a town where the park district is awesome and has a large offering of things.
  • I did almost an entire spin class this morning. I've been trying to work back up to the whole hour class but my hamstring got mad at me last week. I think I probably need to go back to the orthopedist because I don't think PT is really doing anything. I took a yoga class yesterday that I really like at the Y. Unfortunately it only offered twice a week live and the other time doesn't work for my schedule. I'll try the virtual class but I'm not really a virtual person - other than Peloton. H signed up for Personal Training with my trainer. I'm so glad he did. He doesn't do much physically and he really needs to do something. He has been going to the Y with me twice a week this month. Baby steps!

How old were the twins when they started karate? I think G would really like it and just turned 4, wondering if it might be too much for him at this age?

You need a spreadsheet just to keep with up signups let alone actual activities!
  • Glad you can take some time to rest @STARMOON44. Hormones and vitamins for fertility are no joke! Hope you get some relaxation and sleep soon!

Hahaha exactly! I'm actually in the process of creating one now just to keep track *eye roll*.
  • Work is crazy this week, and silly me decided to start applying for jobs and has had two interviews scheduled.  I don't think anyone will notice that I'm taking hour lunches, but I do really hope that it works out.  The new company I am interviewing with has great perks and higher pay.  Plus it is in the insurance industry but doing what I do now which I love, so might be a good change with some of the same.
I'll be happy for the weekend.  I know it is only Wednesday but .... could really use a day or two of peace.

I think they started last summer so they were 5 but there were younger kids in their class. It was run through their park district. The doctor and the nanny thought it would be good for the twin who was having aggression issues. He has gotten better but maturity helps too.

@MNNEBride, I have a personal trainer at our Y the cost is $56/hour. I don't know how many times your H needs a trainer, but if there is a Y nearby you might want to check that out. Of course, I realize he might need a trainer with special training but thought I'd put that out there.

This week has been so long. I keep thinking it is Thursday but then realize it is only Wednesday. I think the gray dreary weather is really affecting me. I don't seem to have much energy at all and just want to sleep in the afternoon. At least I have been getting my morning workouts in before I crash. I really need to mop my kitchen floor but keep thinking why bother with all the rain it will just get messed up in 5 minutes! This weekend is looking better though!
