Wedding Woes

Wednesday

I hate insurance companies. So much. Also hospital billing departments.

We still haven’t been billed for J’s birth or first hospital admission- because my company never added him to that policy; our insurance carrier changed January 1 and because people were out of the office at my company from the 25- the 1st he only was added to the new policy. So the hospital couldn’t bill the first insurance. They keep calling me I keep telling them my company corrected it (not until last week) but I can’t see my old insurance because they closed the account when my company dropped the carrier. It’s absurd!

Re: Wednesday

  • That's so incredibly frustrating @charlotte989875. This whole system is such a mess.
  • I'm about ready to throw my work computer out the F-ing window. Updating a presentation and no links are working and my colleague who "fixed" the spreadsheets a couple months ago didn't do it in a way that makes sense for what we actually use the spreadsheet for. I'm livid and my job (that shouldn't be mine to do this quarter) is 4 times longer because of it.

We took the boys to a therapy dog event at the counseling/wellness center i mentioned a couple weeks ago - G was all about it, loved everything. N claims he loves the dogs (now) but in the moment would not get near or touch them because "mommy, they're so scared of me". It was so cute.

    Awww sounds so cute @Casadena

i’ve been up since 3:30. I think.  I didnt look at my phone till 4 and had been up a bit before that.  At my door I have a bunch of black running shoes.  Big advocate of pure black runners. I guess some mixed with each other and when I put my shoes on this morning I grabbed one of my kiziks and one of my sketchers which are both black but very different.  When I walked into my building I was like “why is one tighter than the other?”
    looks down.
oh.  That’s why. Guess what? i’m not going home to fix it. Lol.

ugh on billing! Even dental is bad. I can’t wait for mine to come up.  I had a cleaning yesterday and they found four cavities on 3 different teeth.  Honestly, I’ve had no cavities for YEARS.  Probably 10 plus and then BAM.  4. They gave me the billing report but I’m like, whatevs.  I pay at the time of the service.  Then insurance is run.  I get a bill for an amount that was missed like 6 months later. I pay that.  And then a year later I’ll get a third bill for more stuff that was missed.  I don’t believe what they tell me as a preliminary run.  It is what it is, and I gotta get them filled before they worsen anyway.  I just wish their quotes were accurate!

  • @Casadena, good luck with the computer/work problem.  That is so cute!  If there is another event like that, I bet N will be right there with G in meeting the dogs and petting them.  But you know the next request is going to be "can we get a dog?"

I previously had tenants with a few kids.  They were moving in, so both my H and I were there to give them the key and go over a few things about the house.  We supply a 6-pack of air filters and ask our tenants to change them out every couple months.  My H was showing them where the air vent was located (near the floor) and how to do it.  Their 4-year-old little boy got really excited and asked if that was a secret passage for a dog to come in the house.  They did not have a dog, lol.  I didn't want that sweet, little guy to think I was laughing at him so I was biting my lip to hold it in.  But it was just so funny and I can only guess he must have regularly asked for a dog.

@charlotte989875, It's always hard for me to decide who is more evil.  Medical insurance companies or pharmaceutical companies.  It's like they constantly try to one up each other for that title.

There are some client folks I'm potentially going to start doing more work for.  One of them is in town this week and next week.  The other one is in town next week.  I met with the first guy (procurement) yesterday and we spoke more about the help he needs.  Unexpected compliment time!  Once he described it, I said, "It sounds like it's fairly easy, but very detail oriented."  He smiled and said, "Yes! It's very detail oriented.  But I understand that is something you excel at.  Your name has been brought up a few times for this and you come highly recommended."

In the meantime, the second guy...who straddles procurement and steel a bit...has scheduled a meeting with the steel team on Monday.  Doh!  My WFH day.  Oh well!  It's an important meeting and this is the first time I've had to go into the office on one of my WFH days, since my work started the hybrid schedules 6 months ago.  So I'll suck it up.  I'm always happy to have some facetime with people I work with or might be working with.  Especially if it can make my role more valuable.  My job is fairly independent and I feel like people sometimes forget about me.

@CharmedPam If you do have healh insurance, and the provider filed out of time of their contract, I'd argue with them, tell them it was their fault and you're not paying anymore funds to them for their mistake.  It might/might not work, but it's BS that health providers can try to come back to you for their own screwup.
That’s true because I do sign something at the time of the quote! Never thought of that.  They never give me a copy either.  I have to ask for one.
last year I had a root canal (actually just a redo) set but once he got in there, he couldn’t finish and switched the billing to something less costly.  Just an “examination”.  And that’s what I was billed for three different times.  But I never signed or saw the price for examination.
